### 4/5 — Won’t let me log in

*2026-06-26, version 487.24.1*

When I go to sign into app, when I click continue after filling in my log in and password, nothing happens. Logged in through the website and it’s ok there.

### 5/5 — Worth every penny

*2026-06-15, version 487.12.0*

Like it said in the title worthevery penny.

### 2/5 — Disappointing shift to subscription

*2026-06-15*

Really disappointed to see this app move behind a paywall. It was a great, useful tool when it was free, but now it’s just another app demanding a monthly/yearly subscription. It’s a shame to see yet another utility follow this trend. Won't be subscribing.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for your feedback. We're sorry for any confusion around the subscription model. The app offers many benefits including exclusive recipes and handy tools to make cooking with the app as enjoyable as possible. If you do not want to subscribe, you can still find great recipes on our website. Best regards, The Good Food Team

### 2/5 — Might need to unsubscribe

*2026-06-11, version 487.12.0*

I have a digital subscription, but for it to be worth it to me, I need to be able to use it with my Paprika app. So far it isn’t going well. Any suggestions?

### 1/5 — Is this a scam?

*2026-06-10, version 487.12.0*

I love the app and the recipes but on the app pop-up screen, it states I pay $7.99 for a year and then $39.99/year thereafter. When I proceed to pay, the checkout screen tries to charge me the full $39.99 right now! Not to be rude, but this looks like a scam hoping to catch people who aren't paying attention. Can you manually honor the advertised $7.99 price, or do I need to report this billing discrepancy?

### 5/5 — PB

*2026-06-06, version 487.3.0*

Amazing value for money. Easy to follow recipes. Got into baking when recovering from surgery - no more packet mixes!!

### 1/5 — Absolutely terrible

*2026-06-05, version 487.3.0*

Pretty terrible you have to subscribe to use anything on the app and when you try to use Google instead it takes you to the app and then you can’t use the recipe because to use the app you have to subscribe. Also the app doesn’t tell you that you can’t use the recipes without subscribing so you get lured into a false sense of security. Anybody know how to delete an app because that wold be really useful

### 4/5 — Very good

*2026-05-30, version 479.4.0*

Lots of recipes bun not all of them
Very easy to navigate and allowed to like and save good recipes onto the coulmn “my good food”

### 5/5 — Love the app

*2026-05-30, version 479.4.0*

I love the Good Food app! Always find a recipe to suit the occasion. I do a lot of cooking for my elderly parents and the app has been so helpful

### 1/5 — No ability to change portions

*2026-05-28, version 479.4.0*

There’s no ability to alter portion size of recipe and adjust shopping list accordingly. For a paid app, I’d expect this .

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Recipes are nothing special no worth the cost

*2026-08-05*

I am disappointed by this app. I had a subscription. To try out. Would be better if you could add what you have in your fridge pantry & the either suggest recipes based on that . Or give you a more dynamic way to substitute based on what food you have . Or allow to add update the recipe. Based on your preference , your own twist and allow you to save and update the recipe. Love to say the Recipes are special & worth the extra cost . 3 months they are Very hit and miss . Can be quite bland . No point saving recipes in this app as when you stop the subscription your loose access to recipes . Even though you paid to see them. They are not new recipes. So if you do want to use them again write it down 😉.. this could be developed to be an amazing app. Not there yet

### 1/5 — Unable to log in on app

*2026-07-09, version 490.1.1*

I’ve paid for this app for a few months and still unable to login after I changed phones.

### 1/5 — Search function is very poor.

*2026-07-09, version 490.1.1*

I was looking for recipes based around quinoa in the app. Nothing came up, but when I used Google search it brought up a quinoa salad recipe from Good Food. Very frustrating!

### 1/5 — Paid Rubbish

*2026-07-08, version 490.1.1*

Downloaded with the assumption that accessing recipes I can view for free on the Good Food website would also be free. I was wrong.

Making people fund an app that has no additional content to the site you already run funded by the British people’s money is ridiculous. Do better.

### 1/5 — Pointless app

*2026-07-04, version 490.1.1*

This is a very pointless app, you have to pay for a subscription rather than get it all for free on the website, don’t waste your time downloading it as you can’t view the recipes unless you pay

### 1/5 — Unusable & hidden fees!

*2026-07-02, version 490.1.1*

You can download the app and search for recipes but you can’t actually look at the recipe without paying for a subscription!!! For a recipe that you can view in the browser without having to pay!!! What is the point in offering an app that paywalls something that’s free online? Makes absolutely no sense! I understand having the subscription for extra features and even having some premium recipes locked but not being able to see basic information for recipes that are free online and suggest you use the app is a capitalist con. If you are looking for a handy app to find and read recipes this is not it!!! Just use the website on your phone or tablet browser. Absolute waste of storage!

### 1/5 — Unbelievable

*2026-06-20, version 487.19.0*

All I wanted was a quick pizza recipe, so I go to google, as one would, and click on the first link. There it is. Good food. They tell me to download the app, normally I wouldn’t bother. But I thought meh let’s give it a go. I download the app, create an account it tells me I have to subscribe. I say no thank you. I search for the recipe where lo and behold I have to subscribe to actually read it. When I can get it on google for free.
The audacity is actually astounding.
Don’t bother with the app. Just google it. For free.

### 1/5 — Hidden behind a paywall- Don’t bother trying it

*2026-06-14, version 487.12.0*

Downloaded the app as I use the website a lot for meal ideas. It’s incredibly frustrating that you think it’s ok to charge people for an app when the information is already available for free on your website. I wouldn’t have minded if you had actually stated somewhere on the website links that a subscription was required to do more than search for recipes. If you had made it clear about the subscription, I wouldn’t have wasted my time downloading it and getting frustrated while making dinner.

### 1/5 — Subscription required!

*2026-06-14, version 487.12.0*

It’s a shame the the BBC sold good food off now you have to pay £4.99 a month for the recipes. Just visit bbc.co.uk/food for FREE

### 1/5 — Not free at all

*2026-06-13, version 487.12.0*

It’s a shame that none of the recipes can be viewed unless you have paid for the subscription, this should be stated in the app description. Only download if you’re willing to pay for recipes that you can find for free online elsewhere

### 5/5 — Great for quick meal ideas

*2026-07-10, version 490.1.1*

I have found this app so useful when I’m meal planning for the week or just after some new ideas. The only way it could be improved is if you could add 3 key ingredients and then recipes pop up with those in them, the search only really works with one ingredient

### 5/5 — Good Food

*2026-07-08, version 490.1.1*

Fantastic recipes. Whatever good you decide to cook. You can find a tasty recipe to help. Whatever level you’re at . 5 star Good Food

The best app ever

### 5/5 — Inspired a farmer type with about 3 minutes to spare to cook

*2026-07-05, version 490.1.1*

It's great! Really easy, simple and motivated me to cook something different other than the same three meals I normally have! Non of the ads or stupid promoting that other sites have

### 5/5 — Fudge for Wedding

*2026-07-03, version 490.1.1*

I was about to give up after 2 failed attempts, decided to try a different recipe success, haven’t burnt it, looks like it’s going to set.
I times the recipe by 4 hoping that will be enough. I don’t won’t to made anymore for awhile, I know where to come if I do. Thanks
