## What is Good Voice Meter?

Good Voice Meter is a real-time vocal tension analyzer and practice monitor. Sing or speak into your iPhone to see where your voice may be pushing too hard—and hear your voice as you practice.

WHAT IT DOES

Good Voice Meter listens to your microphone and gives you immediate visual and audible feedback:

A Pressure Score (0–100) showing how much tension your voice carries
Up to three Hotspot Frequencies showing where your voice is pushing hardest
A color-coded spectrum highlighting tension zones in orange, and red
An optional Voice Monitor that lets you hear your voice in real time while practicing

Think of it as a thermal camera for your voice. Instead of displaying raw audio data, Good Voice Meter interprets the spectrum and shows you what matters: where your voice sounds stuck, concentrated, or strained.

The Voice Monitor adds an important layer of feedback. Hearing your voice clearly while watching the meter can help you practice more efficiently—without pushing too hard or holding back unnecessarily. Headphones or earphones are required when using the monitor.

WHO IT’S FOR

Singers who want to observe tension patterns during practice and warmups
Vocal coaches who need a visual and audible practice aid for students
Voice therapists looking for a simple, approachable feedback tool
Anyone curious about how their voice behaves under pressure

HOW IT WORKS

Good Voice Meter performs FFT-based spectral analysis focused on the vocal pressure region from 800 Hz to 5 kHz. It tracks which frequencies persist over time, separating brief peaks from sustained tension. A frequency that spikes only once is ignored, while a resonance that remains prominent is flagged.

The Pressure Score combines prominence—how much a frequency stands out—persistence—how long it remains—and spectral tilt—whether upper-mid energy dominates unnaturally. A relaxed voice generally scores lower, while a pressed or strained voice generally scores higher.

The optional Voice Monitor passes your microphone signal through to your headphones in real time, allowing you to hear and adjust your voice as you practice.

No pitch detection. No recording. No audio leaves your device.

KEY FEATURES

Real-time Pressure Score with smooth attack and release
Persistent hotspot detection that ignores brief transients
Live spectrum display with heat-map highlighting
Optional real-time Voice Monitor for practice feedback
Helps you find a balanced vocal effort without excessive pushing
Works in portrait and landscape
Zero configuration—just open and sing
No account required and no data collected

WHAT IT IS NOT

Good Voice Meter is not a tuner, recorder, or conventional spectrum analyzer for engineers. It does not judge your singing, detect pitch, or tell you whether you are sharp or flat.

It gives you visual and audible feedback to help you explore how your voice is working. What you do with that information is up to you.

PRIVACY

Good Voice Meter uses your microphone only for real-time analysis and optional live monitoring. No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted. All processing happens entirely on your device.
