### 2/5 — Updating notes on iPhone not possible

*2026-05-09, version 3.5.6*

Trap is good!
App is difficult on iPhone -
Eg go
To edit a note,
Keyboard cannot be hidden and therefore can’t save edit to the Note. Disappointing.

### 2/5 — Money trap

*2026-04-02, version 3.5.4*

Many false strikes (I know - I’ve been standing there at the time of strikes) and few rodents caught. That matters because there are limited strikes per cylinder and then you have to buy new ones.

### 2/5 — Mouse trap test fire bug

*2026-03-16, version 3.5.2*

Test fire on mouse traps now causes the traps to continuously fire and recharge, rather than a single fire, have to open the trap to stop it - please fix! Firmware ver 0.2.570

### 2/5 — Funktioniert nicht zuverlässig

*2025-12-23, version 3.5.1*

Falle gut, App schlecht.

### 1/5 — App Redesign

*2024-09-05, version 3.0.0*

Horrible redesign of app. Offers less direct oversight and control. Visually sterile UI. Downgrade from previous app is a demonstration of poor product management and executive team understanding or downplaying of importance of app aesthetics, usability and visual brand identity. Moral of the story change is fine if it leads to better user experience and feel but team’s decisions echo shades of eliminating Happy Mac.

### 1/5 — CHIRPless

*2022-08-30, version 1.514*

Great concept but fails to deliver. It simply refuses to notify me of a kill unless I physically wake it up. This defeats the purpose really. A replacement Chirp made no difference. It won't sync readily and if it does, I could probably light a fire and cook the dead rat in the time it takes. Sorry but I wish I'd purchased the original counter instead.

### 1/5 — Trap good. Chirp bad.

*2022-06-20, version 1.513*

Trap is great. Chirp and app are useless. Changing location settings to “always on” drains your phone battery significantly throughout the day. Chirps don’t sync, keep having to wake them up. Which means physically going to the traps each time so no real point in having them.

### 1/5 — No good

*2022-05-25, version 1.512*

The app is frustratingly useless. It won’t sync. I get notifications but they don’t appear on the kill list - presumably because it won’t sync. I just want to know if it gets something or not. The only up side is the tracking/ordering of consumables. C’mon guys, the chirp function is why we purchased it. Make it work as advertised.

### 1/5 — Privacy

*2022-04-16, version 1.511*

Fix the location services. You only need peoples location when they are using the app, not constantly.

### 1/5 — Excessive data collection?

*2022-04-14, version 1.511*

Just wondering; why does this app require so much personal information?
The trap is connected via Bluetooth, so you don’t actually need share precise location data to pull details such as kills, bait and battery level.
The privacy policy references the privacy act of 1993, but this was amended in December 2020.

You don’t need all this data to make my app work with the trap. Please stop requiring it to “make the application work” or for certain features “to work”.

Just no. Please. You don’t ALWAYS need my precise location. Stop harvesting data which will inevitably be featured in some future data breach.

I look forward to better privacy practices for this application, especially considering that your traps aren’t exactly considered cheap.

### 1/5 — Chews Battery, Then Spits It Out & Buries It

*2022-03-21, version 1.511*

53% of my day’s power consumption is this app - when I haven’t even opened it. 😳
All I want is to know when to go looking for a dead rat before it starts to stink unbearably.
Traps are fabbo. App isn’t.

### 2/5 — Eats battery

*2022-03-13, version 1.511*

Chews through phone battery doesn’t seem to work on “location services only when using”. Love the trap but app needs more thought put into it.

### 1/5 — Can’t pair a trap

*2026-03-27, version 3.5.3*

When I try to add the trap the window just pops up and goes away again.

### 1/5 — Spare parts

*2025-09-08, version 3.3.0*

I tried to order spare parts for my A24 and told no! I asked if I could send it back for Goodnature to fix, again no! Buy another devices!
No happy and don’t want to throw away but what can you do if supplies don’t offer parts?
I’m very capable of changing parts but still no offer to provide parts!
Very disappointing!

### 1/5 — Expensive snap trap…

*2025-09-08, version 3.3.0*

Ok admittedly it is a cool trap, however I never get any notifications even when synced. App looks like it’s working and has connectivity but never registers an activation to the app.

### 1/5 — Does not work!

*2025-08-25, version 3.2.0*

Since 14 Days the trap is launched. The Technic works, testwise! The Rats are running around and playing with it- no strik …. Perhaps the Rats here are more intelligent, don‘t no know. The Old wooden ones are working

### 1/5 — Does not detect strikes

*2025-08-16, version 3.1.8*

I bought this <$150> mouse trap because of the claimed ability to notify me of when I got a kill. Since I am placing this in attic and crawlspace that’s important so I don’t need to crawl around to check manually and clear the trap… or worse, go a week or so with a dead rat sitting up there.

Since I purchased this back in July, I have been entirely unsuccessful at getting this to detect any strikes at all. Even with phone sitting right next to the trap (equipped with Bluetooth cap). I have manually triggered about 6 strikes. ZERO have been counted on the app. Customer support claims they are releasing a bug fix for this but I’m still waiting. So far, $5 snap traps have been outperforming this thing. Such a bummer since I was really looking forward to this trap just being an all around winner.

### 1/5 — Rat/mousetrap

*2025-07-15, version 3.1.8*

Wow. I’ve literally watched mice and rats walk around the trap. Old school traps with jam killing it. This trap with their baits- nothing. This trap with jam- nothing. Laughable. Could not be more useless.

### 1/5 — Not a good start (to the day or to ownership)

*2025-04-22, version 3.1.7*

This morning woke to find that app had ceased to recognise me. My record of a couple of weeks ago had vanished. Had to sign in again but no the app is saying that the trap is activated but it doesn’t show up on the app. Very, very buggy application.

### 1/5 — Just does not work

*2025-04-21, version 3.1.7*

Attempting to sign up and solidly get ‘internal server error’

### 1/5 — Biggest waste of $200

*2025-03-10, version 3.1.4*

Caught two mice in 6 months. Gave up in the end, despite getting in contact for support. Just gave me the usual advice that you can easily access, and I followed everything to a tee, but the rats remained.

Ended up using poison, which worked a treat.

It was a waste of my money.

### 1/5 — Still bugs trap not functional

*2024-12-31, version 3.1.0*

Very disappointed- customer service not helpful, app not working. Not able to delete my profile, not able to link to my trap since weeks. I wondered why nothings been caught, turns out trap isnt functional eventhough i checked positive before install….

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Peace of mind

*2025-05-24, version 3.1.8*

Set and forget - the app tells you when you have a mouse caught. No more checking traps every day.

### 5/5 — Excellent! 1 warning...

*2024-11-27, version 3.1.0*

Excellent traps, app is much better than the strike counters on the traps. Just one word of caution to others setting up and registering your smart caps to the app - never be tempted to delete a smart cap/connection/device from your app without first talking to customer support (who are excellent & helpful!!); it can cause grief trying to get it reset and re-add-able.. but I wouldn't use anything else for the task of what these goodnature traps do!! Brilliant!! Saved us thousands no doubt from potential rodent damage!!

### 5/5 — Connecting issue

*2024-11-20, version 3.1.0*

How do I connect to the phone? I’ve tired by it says out of sync all the time even if I am standing right near it.

### 5/5 — A24 is king

*2019-01-30, version 1.1*

Hi Goodnature,

I own a small pest Control business to in California. I have used A24s for about 2 years now and I love them. I own approximately 22 traps and have achieved roughly 300+ kills so far.

I am a huge proponent of your product. I don’t know if the chirp is coming to the US but I hope it does.

❗️please allow the app to function as a kill locator/map with out chirp so it can be used in the US.

Keep up the good work!!!

P.S. will the A12 ever be sold on the states?

### 4/5 — Needs a reset button!

*2025-05-11, version 3.1.7*

Great idea. Would be great if you could reset the counter without having to delete the trap. Which in turn means a call or email to Goodnature in NZ to reset your counter. Rendering it useless until it’s done. For us in the uk we are having to move traps around changing locations, and keeping track of kills can be awkward. Maybe I’ll have to stick with the old resettable counter?

### 4/5 — Working :)

*2021-06-07, version 1.507*

After an initial bumpy start with the app it is now working along with the a24 trap which had its first kill within an hour of setting up. From what I can tell most of the negative feedback on the traps is from incorrect set up. Placed correctly I can say from experience these work very well

### 3/5 — Bluetooth connection status doubts

*2026-05-09, version 3.5.6*

Seems ok but it uses Bluetooth to connect via the app, ie not shown on the phones blue tooth apps display. Within the app, I can’t find a way to see if it’s connected. It just says last synched today, but does that mean it’s connected now, it doesn’t change even when within a meter of the device and close and restart the app. It would help to have a check connection option.

### 3/5 — Very easy to setup and use, but forces you to reveal trap location in public heat map …

*2024-05-11, version 2.4.0*

Very smooth and well designed app that is easy to get started and use with the “SmartCap” for rodent traps.

One drawback is regarding privacy and the location of traps registered within the app. The location is used by GoodNature to generate a publicly viewable heat map of where kills have taken place - and the app does not provide any means for users to opt-out of handing over this information….

This might seem harmless in densely populated urban areas, but in rural areas (such as farms), information displayed on this heat map is hardly “anonymous” and can quite clearly be associated with the owner of any large section. If you are concerned about privacy for any reason, I would suggest manually entering 0,0 for the coordinates until the app developers add support for opting out.

### 3/5 — Needs to handle false alarms

*2024-04-15, version 2.4.0*

The one thing that irritates me about this app is that if I bump my trap while moving near it, it will often interpret this as a strike. It then reduces the predicted number of available strikes by 1, which makes the refill warning happen sooner than it should.
The app needs to offer the ability to remove a false strike from its count.

### 3/5 — No auto sign in

*2023-07-04, version 2.2.5*

It would be a big help to have auto sign in enabled when you get out to the bush to check on the traps and one has forgotten to enable mobile data. Having to manually log in when it’s wet cold windy, glasses are in pockets some where and you’ve hiked over a km to get to the trap is the definition of app rage. How hard can it be to have auto log in. It’s not like there’s a security risk at stake🤦‍♂️
