### 3/5 — Room for upgrades

*2020-06-02, version 1.5*

I received this app as a gift. And would never complain about something free. However, there is a lot of room to improve and sometimes my littles needed help.

### 3/5 — Awesome app, doesn’t work with latest iOS anymore

*2019-02-16, version 1.5*

Too bad. Don’t buy until updated. No sound.

### 4/5 — Crashes but works

*2019-01-03, version 1.5*

I would have given this five stars but unfortunately the app closes randomly so I can’t

### 3/5 — Nice rendition, music and reading but unintuitive interface and poor use of screen size

*2017-10-07, version 1.5*

My biggest complaint is why does this waste so much screen space and make the book so small? Please make the book bigger by using more of the available space. I read this to my daughter every night and the book is frustratingly small and hard to see.

### 3/5 — Buggy and uncomfortable

*2016-08-01, version 1.4*

The page turn physics are broken: grab a page, and pull it down toward the bottom, and it starts flapping like an epileptic pigeon. The pages are too small. There are ads for other books and links to Facebook.

### 2/5 — Ruth Luchnick

*2015-01-19, version 1.4*

I was out of town and even though I know the book by heart now I wanted some support. When I start reciting this to my 11 month old baby he immediately calms down no matter his mood.
With the app, he got very wired wanting to touch the phone and at the end he was so upset that it took me a long time to calm him down and put him to sleep.
As with adults, technology doesn’t help to go to sleep

### 5/5 — One of my top ten apps

*2014-05-03, version 1.4*

I love this book for two reasons:
1) My children love it.
2) My children learn from it.

It has just the right mix of simple animations and hidden surprises. The in-app purchases are easy to ignore (they don't appear while reading the book). They also require a simple puzzle to activate, so kids can't accidentally buy something.

I love Goodnight Moon. Always have. This app makes an extraordinary book even better.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2013-12-07, version 1.4*

This is a cherished book in our household. It doesn't require gamification. It's not a game; it's a bedtime book. The last thing I want to do with my sleepy toddler is engage him in a thrilling game of "Find the mouse that is inexplicably missing from the page by tapping every item!" And while I do appreciate the clever obfuscation of the in-app purchases, it is still tacky to have those ads right there when you open the app.

### 5/5 — Wonderful revamp of a classic!

*2013-11-01, version 1.4*

My first child will be born in 3 months..this will be a wonderful, interactive bedtime experience for us to read together. Thank you so much for the obvious care and cleverness you imbued this book with. You added so much, and subtracted nothing!

### 3/5 — Disappointing

*2013-10-13, version 1.4*

The pages are very small and not friendly for the age of child this book is appropriate for. It's difficult to navigate back to the beginning to listen to it over again. It's already a $5 app, it's very annoying to have ads for other books right on the main screen and again at the end. Overall, we love the story and my daughter got frustrated with this and went and got her actual copy of the book. So disappointing

### 5/5 — My kid loves it.

*2013-09-04, version 1.3*

And I do too. It's a classic story with great little animations for the different parts of the book that you can interact with. I cannot get enough of these pop out books.

### 5/5 — Wonderful!

*2013-08-24, version 1.3*

I loved this when my son was a baby (he's 9 now), and wondered if the magic of the mouse hunt and the rising moon would be the same in the book app... And it was even more than I expected!

The mouse is hidden causing the readers to explore the page to find him. The interactivity is charming and magical! The narrator's voice is soothing and melodic.

Read this with my granddaughter and she was enchanted! Me too!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No sound!!!

*2021-01-21, version 1.5*

Have tried all suggested fixes, nothing has worked. Waste of money.

### 1/5 — Sound?

*2020-08-03, version 1.5*

There isn’t any sound. It’s a disappointment.

### 1/5 — What a waste

*2019-04-06, version 1.5*

The app has no sound (even after adjusting the “Music” level). Also, the pages only fill half the screen. The Dr. Seuss book apps are much better for the same price.

### 1/5 — Rrm

*2018-09-29, version 1.5*

As usual, paid for a Loud Crow app and got NO SOUND. I’m going to fight this charge on my credit card. I’m sick of this company.

### 1/5 — This where old tech clearly doesn't grow up

*2013-12-08, version 1.4*

This is only slightly better then the real book
Its clearly a old tech crammed into a new tech world and has the feel of bricks and mortar in a glass polish world, this is truly a disappoint when compared to the Peter Rabbit books, from the same company using the same tech.
There are just too many things wrong, its way too small, your child can get tossed to the apple store for another product, my child likes that i read this book in the binder form. Its that bad, i have since used another $5 book creator app just So my child will read the book, had to do the same for the going to bed book as well.
Not worth buying this version..

### 1/5 — Just bad

*2013-07-27, version 1.3*

We read a lot of kids books on the iPad. While the platforms used by the Dr Seus and Lil Critter books is exceptional, this app falls short in several areas:

 - the book content only fills a fraction of the screen. Around 40% of the screen space is wasted.

- page turning is really finicky. If you don't hit the edge when you swipe they will not turn the page.

- there is no "read it myself option"

- annoying music plays and there is no way to turn it off

- the hidden mouse from Lil critter etc is copied but instead of a hidden picture game you need to poke everything on the screen, watching and hearing the annoying/distracting animations until the mouse pops out.

- the animations detract from the reading experience turning this beloved classic into something akin to whack a mole as the young reader pounds on the screen trying to activate animations

- once the book starts there is no way to return to the title screen without finishing the book.

### 1/5 — Overrated

*2013-01-31, version 1.1*

The book is small. The pictures don't fill the entire screen making it difficult to see any details. Instead you have to click on the microscope which makes it difficult for my son and I to use together while reading. I think too many reviewers have hyped it up because it is a classic book, but the actual app book could be better if it took up the screen.

### 2/5 — No sound on this version!!!

*2019-03-16, version 1.5*

I bought Good Night Moon a few years ago for my older iPad and it worked great. Bought this app for a newer iPad for a different child and was vastly disappointed. No read-along, no sound effects .... TERRIBLE!!!

### 2/5 — Sound?

*2018-04-06, version 1.5*

Is there a reason my app has no sound, but it has a music volume scale? I’ve deleted it and downloaded it again and no success.

I also agree with the comment on the wasted screen real estate, make the book image bigger- that’s the reason we bought the app in the first place.

### 2/5 — Great until the sound died

*2017-08-01, version 1.4*

This app worked well for my one year old for several months. I'm not sure about the other problems negative reviews stated as it seemed no problem for my child. One month ago though the sound mysteriously died. Everything else on my iPad has sound, so I suspected my kid accidentally changed an option. I tried everything I could find. It wasn't the music or reading options. I found no silencing option. I have to conclude after looking through every last thing that the app itself lost the sound and there is no way to turn it back on.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best app ever

*2023-01-09, version 1.5*

I gave this app a five star review. It’s the best.
🙂

### 5/5 — Still a clasic

*2022-05-09, version 1.5*

This is just as charming as the book I purchased so long ago. This is without a doubt my favorite book and the electronic version just adds to the fun. I would recommend for anyone with small children or anyone who wants to look back and reminisce. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Great app and I love it

*2020-06-03, version 1.5*

I am 6 years old and I love this app. I always liked the book.

### 5/5 — Great Book

*2019-03-15, version 1.5*

The app works fine. It’s a great book and my kids love it!

### 5/5 — Excellent App for Littles

*2016-05-25, version 1.4*

I have seen bad reviews but my 2 year old loves this app! She loves listening to the story and then exploring the pages. The cows spins, you go on a mouse hunt, and wave at the gloves. Each page offers something unique. 5 stars from this mama and her little.

### 5/5 — Wonderful!

*2015-07-31, version 1.4*

This book has always been a favorite for my daughters (5 and 2-years-old). We misplaced the book, which we read the girls every night at bedtime. We finally found this app... LIFE SAVER! Love how interactive it is, and the girls thoroughly enjoy it. So worth it! Thank you!

### 5/5 — Love the modern twist on this old standard favorite!

*2015-04-18, version 1.4*

This was a favorite book of mine as a child. Then, it was with my children. Now I can share in a more interactive and playful way that keeps the original beautiful while keeping their attention in this world of technology! Thank you for keeping the classics alive in their original beauty.

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2014-08-08, version 1.4*

I have two kids under age three, and they both love this app. Absolutely the best book app I have found. The music is soothing, and there are hidden treasures to discover on every page. My kids love the interactive animation.

### 5/5 — We love this

*2014-07-14, version 1.4*

as my little Kaylee says, this app is Awesoooome!

This is so cute and has hidden things to find. I really don't understand the bad reviews for this app. Maybe we love this so much because we started with the book.

### 5/5 — It's still worth it!

*2014-07-02, version 1.4*

Of course it's an app,and sometimes there's nothing that can take the place of the old fashioned book, but I suggest getting a magnifying glass and the paper back and having both just for the sake of repeating what our grandmothers did with us.
