### 4/5 — Love it and hate it

*2026-08-23, version 4.26.28*

Many times, it ignores me. Sometimes, I have to read too much to get an answer.
But I love getting answers quickly and love playing music through Google.

### 3/5 — PLEASE READ

*2026-08-23, version 4.26.28*

Ok so you open the app and add the device than when you wanna connect it to the wifi it doesn’t work and after trying everything it still won’t work

### 2/5 — Doorbell and Battery outdoor Cam doesn’t work

*2026-08-23, version 4.26.28*

I’ve had this system for over 6 years. What’s going ON??

### 3/5 — Ehh

*2026-08-23, version 4.26.28*

Google is nice but wish i could get its attention other than “okay google”

### 2/5 — Recent update Broke It

*2026-08-23, version 4.26.28*

I have loved using Google Home. Now it seems it gets worse with each update. It will not even set an alarm to wake me up in the morning. This is one of the basic functions I use it for constantly. The video on my Nest cameras is also much more glitchy. And little Miss Google has forgotten how to answer some very simple questions. I am so tired of hearing, “sorry I don’t understand“. You used to understand, you used to know things, you usedvto be very useful. I don’t understand why they broke something that was working perfectly.

### 3/5 — Assistant can’t answer simple questions or easy math questions

*2026-08-22, version 4.26.28*

Asking it to give annual salary of $21 per hour or when is next federal holiday or hours for local Walmart pharmacy. It says it doesn’t understand. Why?

### 1/5 — so slow

*2026-08-21, version 4.26.28*

after the update to gemini it’s being so slow, doesn’t take any commands like setting up alarms.

### 2/5 — Clunky on iPhone

*2026-08-21, version 4.26.28*

Home sensing is always very delayed. Camera videos take a long time to load, and when trying to rewind a bit, the app totally craps out. The only way to really check your doorbell cam is to download first, then review in the iPhone’s photos app.

### 1/5 — Keeps becoming worse

*2026-08-21, version 4.26.28*

Google Assistant worked, the new AI is terrible. Routines are not recognized no matter how perfect the word match for the command. Good integrations are slower and slower, while the apps integrated have not changed. Google is trying to force paid upgrades to constantly degrading performance.

### 1/5 — Trash

*2026-08-21, version 4.26.28*

Update from Google’s own AI:

Google Home automations have a well-documented, long-running reliability problem that many users hit, especially with anything beyond the simplest routines.

Polls and reporting from 2025–2026 consistently show the same pattern: large shares of users rate the experience as frequent glitches or worse. One survey around mid-2025 had roughly 70% reporting frequent issues; a February 2026 poll had 70% rating it 1 or 2 out of 5. Reddit threads, community forums, and tech coverage are full of the same complaints—routines that fire one day and silently skip the next, delayed or missed triggers, and “it used to work.”

8/19/2026
Latest update deleted all of my automations. While I was away, so no camera on, no notifications, no idea anything was wrong. Just useless as a security tool.

Real bush league stuff, guys.

Cancelled my subscription.

### 2/5 — Decent. Needs better alerts

*2026-08-21, version 4.25.29*

Pros: can view and adjust the thermostat and schedule from anywhere you have an internet connection.

Cons: the alerts do not work. I have had them turned on since the installation, but they don't alert me when there is a problem. For example, if the drain pan stops draining and shuts the AC down, it should detect this and send an alert. Or, if for any reason it can't maintain the temperature, it should send had several instances where the hvac system stopped working but Google didn't alert me. I found it much later only by logging onto the app and checking for myself.

### 1/5 — Not it

*2026-08-21, version 4.26.28*

Taking away stand alone apps for a worse experience. Having everything in one app is great if it's a better experience, this is not.

### 2/5 — Not working

*2026-08-21, version 4.26.28*

Nie działa. Nie łączy i nie obsługuje języka polskiego. Katastrofa

### 1/5 — Passable

*2026-08-21, version 4.26.28*

No. Constant popup reminders repeatedly and constantly pop up, repeatedly over and over again, all the time. If I wanted to link my energy account, I might have done it earlier but after dismissing the notification for the 3,000th time, no thanks.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Don’t recommend

*2026-08-23, version 4.26.28*

I’ve been having problems with my side camera. I have four cameras around my house only that one side camera keeps giving me problems. I believe that Neighbor on my right side has some kind of equipment that stops my camera from recording. This has been happening for a while. Google app just keeps saying the same thing give them 24 to 48 hours but Google app cannot find a reason. Why does the side camera just the side camera stops recording if I knew Google app was so weak. I would’ve never purchased these cameras from Best Buy. you cannot find a solution to the problem. I won’t recommend you to no one for your lack of knowledge.

### 1/5 — Google Home

*2026-08-23, version 4.26.28*

The app itself is not all that easy in to navigate once you get it working though it works very well

### 1/5 — Not as smart as it use to be.

*2026-08-22, version 4.26.28*

Before google had good reasoning and would complete the task given. Now it gets confused easily and does the wrong thing even though it spells out the voice command correctly. The previous version better. This is trash

### 1/5 — Unable to Use BS

*2026-08-22, version 4.26.28*

No one to call for help

### 1/5 — Remote connection is terrible

*2026-08-22, version 4.26.28*

Fix the remote connection it’s been 2 years and I can’t even turn the volume up without closing and opening the app for 5 minutes straight the least trying to get the phone to stay connected

### 1/5 — App closing by it self

*2026-08-22, version 4.26.28*

The app lately closing by it self when i open it and they didn’t do anything to fix this problem

### 1/5 — Lights

*2026-08-22, version 4.26.28*

Just terrible when your lights are set with Google and then they go offline and it is impossible to get them to go online again and you have to live without lights in your room

### 1/5 — Indecipherable tech

*2026-08-22, version 4.26.28*

Google with all its might cannot make applesque gadgets that decrease human suffering

### 1/5 — Ruined my thermostat

*2026-08-22, version 4.26.28*

Ruined thermostat

### 1/5 — Going down hill fast with no brakes

*2026-08-21, version 4.26.28*

Completely useless app. Constantly says devices offline or not found since recent updates. Thank God they include a remote with Google tv or it would be a totally useless brick. Doesn’t help my Nest speakers though because you need the app and Bluetooth to get anything out of them.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Door bell

*2026-08-23, version 4.26.28*

Very nice works great can see more than I thought

### 5/5 — Google - fix your Home and Assistant Failures

*2026-08-23, version 4.26.28*

For months Google has been tearing down their old architecture that supports Google Home and Google Assistant. This is supposedly to make way for a more AI ready system. But what it means for people like me who invested good money in building a home network of Google Nest and Google Hub devices is that these no longer work at all to play SiriusXM, Spotify, and probably other services as well. Even when playing through TuneIn, networked speakers just crackle. Google is not prioritizing this fix and makes me inclined to move on to another ecosystem. Shame on you for knowing about these problems for months and not fixing or being transparent with your customers.

### 5/5 — Where on earth is Gemini intelligence I had a power outage 18 days ago and it had the assistant

*2026-08-23, version 4.26.28*

Update the app: place the Gemini icon inside the home icon, change its colors, and position the Gemini intelligence for home phrasing at the bottom of the app by default please and thank you amen.🙏🌟

### 5/5 — Cameras

*2026-08-19, version 4.26.28*

Love my Nest cameras driven by Google.

### 5/5 — Google voice recognition

*2026-08-19, version 4.26.28*

This works exceptionally well when there is no background noise. As I’m old and hearing is not as good as it used to be, the TV is normally quite loud. I shout over the TV hey Google, turn on living room lamp. Then it’s very hit and miss due to the interference. If it does turn on the lamp, the nest thinks I’m still talking (due to the tv chatter or could be talking to my wife) so enters the conversation or answers the tv
occasionally, which can be quite funny. However, to stop it doing that I ask Google to stop and it turns off the TV. Which is actually what I should do before asking it to action something.
