It provides a heads up checklist that can be adapted for different aircraft, different phases of flight, and operated with voice or taps on the device. It is indispensable! For me, it provided a software alternative to a multi $1000 hardware product that wouldn’t fit in our current turboprop. The app is generally of high quality but the latest release has some critical defects that impair the useability. Attempts to get recognition of the issues from Aerosys have gone unanswered. A marked change is support from when the app was MiraCheck under the prior company. A great disappointment. A little “bulky” at times, but hopefully later updates will fix this. ### 3/5 — Requires $50/yr subscription to be of any use *2019-09-11, version 4.0.7* I wanted to like this app and understood there was a paid upgrade to it to get access to professionally created checklists and other available premium content. I am alright with that, I understand that software development takes time and money. Unfortunately the ability to really do anything much with this app (such as create your own checklist) seems to be locked up in a $50/yr subscription. This is not an in-app-purchase but rather handled with the app company directly through a signup process on their website. I wish there were limited abilities for free (such as keeping 3 checklists with fewer than 3 sections each) and a tier below $50 a year. ### 2/5 — Very slow on iPad Mini 4 with ForeFlight. *2019-07-10, version 3.0.6* Voice recognition: Fairly terrible. I’d have to say check on average 5 times or more. Navigation: Not intuitive lots of miss clicks. In real world testing I had a really difficult time getting the checklist I needed in a timely fashion. Found it confusing trying to go from ground checklists to flying. Performance: Annoyingly slow on the mini 4. Compared to my printed out poh checklist this took me an extra 8 minutes just clicking every item. Overall compared to a nicely formatted knee board that’s printed I wouldn’t use this for any scenario or reason. I feel like the UI needs a total overhaul. I was having to google how to do basic things. ### 3/5 — Great potential but interface is too sensitive *2019-06-10, version 3.0.5* I am a user of the now retired Checkmate app, and I really liked it. I think potential of this application is great, however it is much too sensitive on the interface, while trying to do a pre-flight, the interface kept bumping over to a different category, it was so frustrating that it almost made it unusable. I didn’t have this issue with Checkmate. Also when I would check an item about 20% of the time it would say “Skip” even though it put a check mark there (And I didn’t skip it) so it caused me to alway have to double check on things. ### 2/5 — Very Minimal, but does have Basics *2019-02-12, version 2.5.5* Apps like ForeFlight have all of these checklists and much more of course. Some basic instructions on how to personalize these checklists would make them much more useful. ### 4/5 — Nice interface, bit steep *2019-01-21* Very nice interface. Good to be able to create on the pc as well. I don’t use the sound features. Licensing is a bit awkward though. The subscription model is a bit much for me as I’m only summer. Dysfunctional. *2025-08-08, version 6.3.2* I got this because it was the only app I could find that claimed to run voice checklists with me. That is my primary need. Unfortunately it seems the free version won’t do that. Saying “hey goose” doesn’t work unless the app has focus and is in the foreground. Useless. There is a paid version for $24/yr that fits my needs. But there’s no way I can find to get to it. It forces me to the $36/yr version I do not need. And even if I go “pro” this thing is useless if I have to bring the app to foreground every time I want to talk to it! This is aviation. Precision, reliability, and usability MATTER! You fail. EDIT: it’s also unsupported. I contacted the developer with questions and there was no response. There is no developer support in the app, and no “restore purchase” button. The only “support” this app has is a discussion board that might get checked one of these days. It’s a shame because this app is great otherwise, I went online and built 4 checklists with 60 items each and can only use them on one device. Best way to get in touch with the developer is to give a 1 star review… ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2020-06-14, version 4.4.3* Just not stable enough. Have used it extensively in my flight sim to get used to it before using it in my aircraft on an actual flight. Sadly the program would freeze or close down just enough times in the sim for me to have no confidence in the program to use it on a real flight. Concept is good, a couple of things could have been improved on moving through the program, but just not stable enough to risk my life with it. Back to the old iPad checklist and paper back up. Got to look at some of the checklists to choose from but could not find a tab to get back to select one after finishing the quick start. There appears to be a lot of work to be done before this app is useable. Certainly not user friendly or intuitive. The idea behind it and how it can be applied to any phase of flight for added safety is amazing. The app has a lot of potential and a lot of the functions are very intuitive. -Also a good app to chair fly through different scenarios. ### 5/5 — Brilliant *2021-11-29, version 4.4.7* I’ve owned MiraCheck since the very beginning, and it just keeps getting better and better. The developer clearly cares about the longevity of the application, and is very active (and responsive) to suggestions and feedback, which just gets plowed back into new development. So impressed. I’ve had very few issues; when contacted about an issue, customer support responds quickly. I really like the ability to customize the lists via PC and then sync them to my iPad. The app works best on the iOS environment but I also have it on my Android, where the app works fine, just with less bells and whistles. The biggest downfall when using this in the plane has nothing to do with the app itself but rather with the iPad. There can be a fierce glare that can at times make it almost impossible to see what’s on the screen. I keep printed emergency procedure cards instead. Also, here in south Florida, when the sun beats in through the windscreen, the iPad overheats and shuts down making it a problem to do anything electronically, be it a checklist or shooting an approach. It would be great if Miracheck were integrated with my Garmin GTN 750. ### 5/5 — Great product with continuing innovation *2018-12-10, version 2.5.3* I’ve tried several electronic checklists, none of which compare in terms of usability and breadth of features. Even without using the voice features, I find it to be a compelling product, developed by someone who understands a pilot’s workflow, while allowing each pilot to adapt it to his peculiar preferences. And the developer’s commitment to refining and expanding its capabilities bodes well for the longevity of the product. If you’re serious about checklists and like the advantages of interactivity, this is well worth trying out. ### 5/5 — Great Product *2018-12-07, version 2.5.0* This app works great for FAA Part 107 remote pilots too. I am a slow learner, but had this app figured out in about 30 min. I didn’t think I would need the subscriptions service, but then I saw all the many different ways people were creating and using the this app. I bought the Standard subscription thinking that was all I was going to need. Nope, needed the Pro version and it is worth every dime in my opinion! ### 5/5 — You win I’ll try it. *2018-04-04, version 2.0.2* Let you know what I think in a month. ### 5/5 — This is the checklist app I’ve been waiting for! *2018-01-10, version 1.10.1* I've been using MiraCheck now for the last month or so, and continue to be impressed! This application is so feature packed, that it's difficult to even begin to review it, but wanted to mention a few features that really stand out for me. I love the voice interactive aspect! It's like having a co-pilot along for every flight. I have made full use of the audio fields to alter the way Mira pronounces the various numerical values (such as tail number, Garmin 530, etc.). I have also split out the preflight inspection steps onto their own checklist, as one of their videos recommends, so that I run that one from my iPhone while walking around the airplane, and then the main one is run off of my iPad. This brings up a related benefit. The ability to overlay my checklist on top of Foreflight, so it's always right there where I need it. The ability to just have Mira read a particular checklist section straight through without waiting for responses. This works great, for example, on the Take-off checklist as I am entering the runway, and of course the emergency checklists, allowing to focus on the flying. I can import and export from Excel, therefore allowing the heavy editing on my PC with the Excel application that I am very familiar with. This also serves as a great backup. And finally, and most recently - Linking and branching: I am using this in a number of places. For example, I use it for the Engine Securing Procedure on my multiengine aircraft. There are a number of sections within the emergency procedures checklist that simply say "conduct the engine securing procedure." With traditional paper, as well as with other electronic checklists, this would require you to bounce back and forth between multiple sections of the checklist; which is a recipe for missing steps. With the new Linking functionality, all I have to do is link back to that Engine Securing Procedure. And once its completed, it jumps you right back to where you were in the active checklist.
