The only way it tracks my steps if I have the app open and looking at the screen, if it’s in my pocket, it does not track any of my steps. How am I supposed to pay attention to my surroundings if I’m looking at the app to make sure it’s tracking my step. ### 4/5 — Dog walking app works, mostly *2026-05-08* So the only reason this isn’t five stars yet is for times when I’ve had to walk extra to get credit for our walk that we already did, until the app crashed like others have mentioned. It seems better with the new update this week though, so I’m hopeful to update my review soon to give five stars. I’ve redeemed real money though so it’s definitely legit if you can get it to work properly. I also need to be able to update my goal for the week to receive more points overall. ### 4/5 — Crashes during walks *2026-04-04* I love this app and I hate giving it a low rating. They have responsive customer service, fantastic perks and cool challenges. But I’ve had the app for a good amount of time now and it consistently crashes while recording steps. Once I start a walk I put my phone in my pocket and may not look again for a while. I’ve had many instances of looking at Patter at the end of a walk and finding out it has crashed and half my steps weren’t recorded, and sometimes that means I couldn’t get my gameplay for that week. Also sometimes I do record a full walk, but when I open the app the next day and start a new one, it’s still in the previous day’s walk and I can’t start a new one. ### 5/5 — Easy to use *2026-02-23, version 1.3.5* Fun way to earn gifts while doing things with your dog. ### 2/5 — This week 👎 *2026-02-21, version 1.3.5* This week it’s really not working right. I walked over 2.5 miles yesterday - Nothing. I did 0.6 today in a frequently visited place - Nothing. I tried just walking in my house to test it -Nothing. It has gypped me out of two days. This app is fabulous for getting me out the door with my pup! I walk him so much more and get rewarded for it each time. Tried loading twice. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t accurately track *2026-07-31, version 1.3.16* I used this app for a few days now and I am still at only 10 coins for some reason. Today I did a little over 1 miles and it said I only did 11 steps. ### 1/5 — Broken *2026-04-30, version 1.3.10* Have installed twice and it doesn’t work. Just stays on the start up screen. ### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time *2025-10-23, version 1.2.4* I thought the app was great until my account was randomly disabled and there’s no way to log back in. If you go through the “account disabled” process, there’s no way to get a one time pass code to get back into your account. I sent a message a few days ago through the Contact link. I didn’t get a response or even some sort of auto response to state that my message was received. Can you please fix your app and allow me to get back in? They are a breed even if the AKC doesnt say so 🙄 2nd issue is how many ads there were. Constant. 3rd, I couldnt even finish the quizzes because the app was glitching. I have changed nothing about my day to day except logging our walks, and now I earn money doing it. Achieving goals is super easy; you get a game board once a week and choose a tile to earn your patter-bucks. They add up quickly! There are always other ways to make patter-bucks too, like questionnaires about your dog.
