## What is Gopher+?

Gopher+ is a modern text-based Gopher client for iOS and macOS that makes it easy to explore Gopherspace from your Apple devices.

Gopher is a classic internet protocol that focuses on simple, text-based navigation and community-run servers.

Browse Gopher servers, discover classic Gopherholes, and experience the retro internet through the Gopher protocol. You can even visit my own burrow at gopher://gopherspace.dk along with many other Gopher sites across Gopherspace.

New: Chapter Navigation in the Reader
Jump directly to chapters and sections while reading. Gopher+ automatically detects chapter headings in text documents, making it much easier to navigate long books and documents. You can also jump to a specific percentage or line number.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-06-26

This update brings a built-in reading experience to Gopher+.
When you open a long plain-text file — such as a classic novel from Project Gutenberg — a new Open in Reader button appears. The Reader displays the text in a comfortable, customisable layout with adjustable font size and line spacing. Your reading position is saved automatically and synced across your devices via iCloud, so you can pick up where you left off on any of your Apple devices.
A new Reading tab in the sidebar and bookmarks sheet lists everything you have in progress, complete with a progress bar showing how far through each book you are. Tap any title to resume reading instantly.
EPUB files downloaded through Gopherspace can now be opened directly in Apple Books with a single tap.
