## What is GopherForge?

Write, debug and learn Go on iPhone and iPad. GopherForge combines an on-device Go compiler, source editor, tests, an offline React study workflow and a practical learning library. Build, run, test, vet and format with bundled Go 1.27.1, even offline once compatible project sources are present.

CODE AND DEBUG ON DEVICE
• Edit multi-file Go projects, go.mod and web sources with highlighting and keyboard shortcuts.
• Tap a Go line number to set a breakpoint. Run executes normally without breakpoints and automatically starts source debugging when they exist.
• Continue, Step Into, Step Over, Step Out and Stop. Inspect project call stacks, source locations and bounded current-frame local values.
• Follow diagnostics to source; inspect test results, output, images and concurrency timelines.
• Import GitHub commit snapshots or Files content, export work, and organize projects with favorites, tags, search and a collapsible sidebar.

EXPLORE REACT OFFLINE
• Build browser JS, JSX, TypeScript, TSX, CSS and local JSON with bundled esbuild WASI.
• Build from Output with Build & Preview or the documented offline npm commands and fixed React catalog. Open full screen, reload and share the project archive.
• Trace small deterministic in-memory Go APIs through an explicit Gin-compatible adapter and local request replay. No network listener or cloud runtime is used.
• This educational mode has no full Node.js/npm runtime, Bun, arbitrary scripts, Vite plugins or registry downloads. TypeScript is transpiled without type checking. API state is temporary.

LEARN GO AND PREPARE FOR INTERVIEWS
• Follow 220 teaching lessons and 22 prediction challenges across 28 units, including 173 worked readings with code, diagrams, references and understanding checks.
• Study values, collections, interfaces, errors, generics, modules, concurrency, runtime and the standard library.
• Explore four architecture/clean-code units with 40 lessons, all 23 classic patterns and six Go concurrency/resilience patterns.
• Study production transactions, outbox/inbox, sagas, API evolution, tenant isolation, observability, gRPC, Protobuf and Kafka.
• New Around Go units cover Gin, blockchain infrastructure and service security: SDK roles, exact amounts, nonces, reorg-safe indexing, authorization, TLS and input ownership.
• Work through JSON v2 contracts, SQL service lifetimes, WaitGroup.Go, synctest and errgroup.
• Learn Bash, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, MongoDB, Redis and workflows with Codex, Claude Code and Cursor in your native environment.
• Prepare with 132 interview guides, 15 topics, four levels and twelve interactive algorithm labs with 36 scenarios.
• Return with Continue and restored lesson drafts. Course completion, compiler evidence, interview marks, assistance and study places persist locally. Review matches concepts; Fix mistakes explains three-choice answers.

MADE FOR YOUR DEVICE
Native layouts adapt to iPhone, iPad and supported Duo postures. Use touch or external keyboards, themes, text size, extra scroll room and supported Face ID/passcode locking. One paid download, no subscription, advertising trackers or app account. Projects and progress stay local; a chosen Files/iCloud library follows your provider. App and web progress are separate.

COMPATIBILITY
Go runs in WebAssembly/WASI with bounded memory/output: no guest networking, cgo or general shell. Ordinary Run has no guaranteed CPU Stop. Module ZIP budgets include 4,000 files. Imports and missing Go packages need a connection. Source debugging covers project code, without watches or conditional breakpoints. Stop needs a project checkpoint. Isolated frontend previews block external requests; legacy local HTML previews may load project-linked resources. Database, deployment and agent lessons teach external native workflows.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.1 — 2026-10-28

• Added 34 worked readings and 40 interview guides: 220 teaching lessons, 173 readings and 22 prediction challenges across 28 units; 132 interview guides across 15 topics.
• Added Gin request/middleware ownership, blockchain package roles and reorg-safe indexing, and service-security lessons.
• Expanded architecture and clean code to four units / 40 lessons, including transactions, outbox/inbox, sagas, API evolution, tenant isolation, gRPC, Protobuf and Kafka.
• Added atomic publication, lock ownership, timers, bounded HTTP responses, cancellation barriers, partial writes and further worked algorithm cases.
• Corrected make/new wording for Go 1.26+ and clarified Go 1.27 generic-method restrictions. Existing progress and Continue are preserved.
• Includes offline React/npm builds, automatic source debugging when breakpoints exist, direct Build & Preview, restored editable lesson drafts and safer Files library switching.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-10-27

• Added 15 readings: JSON v2, modern concurrency tests, SQL service lifetimes and Go coding-agent workflows.
• Added topological sorting, union-find, LRU and interval merging: 92 interview guides and 12 interactive labs with 36 scenarios.
• Corrected Stack.Pop reference retention, numeric Sum constraints and range-over-function signatures.
• Expanded the course to 186 teaching lessons, 139 readings and 22 prediction challenges in 23 units.
• New dark teal gopher icon, refreshed learning screenshots and a complete app guide. Existing local progress and Continue are preserved.

### 1.1.6 — 2026-10-23

• Added two worked lessons about byte ownership: borrowed bytes.Buffer and Scanner views, safe sync.Pool reuse, owned results and oversized buffers.
• Follow ownership diagrams, run complete Go examples and practise with independent matching pairs and three-choice review questions.
• The course now has 171 teaching lessons in 21 units, including 124 readings, plus the existing 22 prediction challenges.
• Existing lesson identifiers, saved completion, bookmarks, Continue and interview self-assessment remain unchanged.

### 1.1.5 — 2026-10-22

• Removed duplicate Projects, Learn and Settings headings to give content more room. Detail screens retain their titles and Back navigation.
• Unified Course and Interview: the same progress card, Continue action, study cards and topic path.
• Added Interview topic routes, searchable guides, and dedicated Revisit and Understood collections.
• Added Continue for Course and Interview. Return to your last opened lesson or preparation guide after reopening the app.
• Remembered the selected Course or Interview area and added a saved-place label and study-mark counts in Interview.
• Kept lesson completion and compiler-verified badges when older attempt history is trimmed.
• Preserved existing progress and personal interview marks. Opening material does not mark it complete.
• Includes eight practical guides on Go work with Claude Code, Codex and Cursor: repository context, API verification, dependency checks, concurrent code and permissions.

### 1.1.4 — 2026-10-20

• Added a separate Interview area: 88 worked guides across 12 topics, from Junior to Staff / expert. Read strong answers, common traps, worked exercises and follow-ups; save local self-assessment.
• Added eight interactive algorithm labs with 24 input scenarios and 111 computed steps, Go implementations and complexity explanations.
• Added twelve MongoDB/Redis and twelve module/tooling readings. The course now includes 169 teaching lessons in 21 units, 122 readings and the existing 22 prediction challenges.
• Reviewed existing material and corrected overly broad nil-value/receiver guidance and a Gin error-classification example.
• Made lower scroll edges transparent and added scrollable end space without changing source text. Preserved embedded/full-screen scrolling and keyboard layout.
• Fixed an initial project-loading race that could undo an early Terminal selection.
