### 4/5 — So far, so good

*2025-04-07*

I like that the workouts are not overwhelming. Especially, in the beginning. This made easier to start and make it part of my morning routine (although it could be done anytime of the day). I don't thnk that I have spent more than 20 min on a workout. In fact, it was probably more like 15. Some take a little less time. The first workout surprisingly made me sore, but my wife reminded me to be sure and stretch before and after the workout. This made a big difference for me the next time that I worked that muscle group. I've enjoyed the workouts so far. Be sure to stretch (this goes for any workout, especially if you are just starting one). Great workout for people that don't have much time to commit to something intensive.

I had actually lost weight with this workout when I was consistent with it. It has been a few years since I have exercised with the app. I started from the beginning and it has been easy to get back into. Still one of my favorite workout regimens.

### 4/5 — Incredibly successful

*2023-11-13*

I used this app to get fit several years ago to great success. I felt great and was able to gain the strength I wanted. Picking this back up after all this time and it’s still a great way to get back into fitness. The app has seen minor improvements throughout the years but overall it’s a very basic and straightforward app. I wish the interface was a little simpler but no major complaints.

### 3/5 — Unbalanced

*2023-03-24, version 6.0.4*

The good:
Clear demos with plenty of variety
Good value. No subscription needed.
Genuinely comprehensive range of exercises requiring no equipment apart from a mat and an optional pull up bar.

The bad:
Crude, ugly interface
Hard to keep track of day to day progress
No scientific or best-practice underpinning or sense of professional expertise

Conclusion:
Useful, but best followed in combination with a notebook and a bit of background research.

### 4/5 — I’m not disciplined enough, BUT...

*2023-02-02*

UPDATE: I’m still not working out regularly, yet I still keep coming back to this app! It’s simple and no-nonsense enough to keep me active whenever I am motivated to get/keep fit!

——
Try as I may, I have *always* found it difficult in devolving a regular discipline cadence for working out. However, with all the apps and programs out there for getting some kind of routine, I always keep coming back to Gorilla Workout... to start all over. :p Getting in some exercise is completely on me. And I appreciate that Gorilla Workout makes it simple (though not always easy) for me to follow a program to burn some calories and get a little more fit every time I use the app!

### 5/5 — Super User Friendly

*2022-07-21, version 6.0.4*

Awesome app. Great for working out when away on holidays or camping or wherever. Solid selection of variety for every level. App runs smoothly. Good value!

### 4/5 — Surprisingly good home workout program

*2022-06-16, version 6.0.4*

I have had this app for years and always come back to it after trying other similar apps. Exercises anyone can do without need for equipment, or weight bearing tables like other apps.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2022-05-25, version 6.0.4*

Love this app!

### 5/5 — Workouts

Killer workouts

### 5/5 — 100Push ups

*2022-05-05, version 6.0.4*

Great workout. Varies a lot and keep you interested. Great gains from this app.

### 5/5 — Simple and Effective

*2022-04-17, version 6.0.4*

I’ve owned this app for several years and have used it off and on to mix things up in my workouts over that period of time. It is fun and effective and I recommend it to everyone.

### 4/5 — Great app!

*2022-04-16, version 6.0.4*

I have had this app for a few years and I love it! My favourite part is that it works with your goals and your level in which you are starting. Great app

### 5/5 — Great app

*2022-04-15, version 6.0.4*

Definitely the best workout app available and well worth the money

### 5/5 — Burpee all day

*2022-04-02, version 6.0.4*

I really like this app. I workout daily and I need structure to keep me on track. This app is perfect for structure and a good challenge. I usually do the 100 Burpees because it really does give a thorough workout. Thank you for such a fantastic app!?

### 5/5 — It’s will kick your butt

*2022-03-08, version 6.0.4*

Granted I’m starting off with very little exercise history but I’m i’m a hardly muscular dude because of my laborest day job. And surprisingly enough level one has given me a heck of a work out and I scarfed at it in the beginning. Seriously do what it tells you to and this ain’t no joke.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Pay for the app… get nothing

*2022-06-29, version 6.0.4*

So I paid for the app, open it up and then realise that I also have to pay for each individual workout?

Why did I pay for the app when there’s no benefit? You could have just had a free app and then asked people to pay for the workouts.

### 1/5 — Imagine paying money to have to pay more money

*2022-06-02, version 6.0.4*

I paid for this app, and upon opening it, all of the content was locked at a price point. Ridiculous scam, and low quality explanations.

### 1/5 — Rlly good

*2020-01-29, version 6.0.4*

It’s always tailored to the workouts I need

### 1/5 — It’s only YouTube videos

*2018-04-25, version 6.0.4*

This is highly highly mediocre. Modestly better than the subscription apps but ultimately it’s just a bunch of you tube videos. I recommend downloading the YouTube app and just use that and a calendar. Really nothing to see here. Don’t waste your money.

### 1/5 — Not much use without In App Purchases

*2018-03-12, version 6.0.3*

I may come back and increase this rating later, but I’m not happy about paying for an app only to find that it’s useless without adding In App Purchases.

The basic app should be free in this case.

OK, it’s not going to break the bank at $1, but it’s devious marketing.

### 1/5 — Ok content, horrible app

*2018-01-02*

I can’t believe that as long as this app has been out (6 years) it still misses basic functionality that exists in every other workout app ever created. I was so excited when this app was boasted to be ‘redesigned with a fine-toothed comb’ that I updated it immediately, only to realize that all they did was changed the screens slightly, and added useless links to supplements so they can make money off you linking to supplements, some from not-good supplement companies.

If you look at the other apps by this developer, they are all the same basic content, just repackaged into separate apps as a cash-grab. Which is fine, but in 2018, the bar for paid workout apps is much higher than what they are delivering.

The fact that the timer doesn’t work when you start it and then go to the workout (so you can actually see what you need to do), and that there is still no form of tracking anything you do in the entire app is why this dumpster-fire of an app gets 1 star.

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing

*2017-12-30, version 6.0.0*

Don’t bother with the update. Keeps crashing on my iPhone. Very frustrating!!

### 1/5 — After purchase still can't access any of the exercises

*2017-06-23, version 5.1.13*

After purchasing this, I still cannot access any of the exercises, they all show up as locked. I haven't been unable to figure out how to contact the vendor. Can't give any other rating, as I haven't seen any of the programs. Very disappointed.

### 2/5 — Needs More to be Competitive

*2021-03-24, version 6.0.4*

Basic functions and use of app is OK. Need to have ability to use timer and see workout at the same time. Also, timer should record your time upon completion and let you know how you rank against all users. Timer history also needs to be available if you want to go back and chart improvement.

### 2/5 — Excellent!

*2020-02-25*

UPDATE: I’d give this app 5* if only the developers took simple fixes into consideration.

What's great about this app is that the workout sessions cater to whatever fitness level you're at. I like that one can start from the absolute minimum and increase the intensity because each workout tones and strengthens. So convenient to do this at home and the sessions are quick but effective! Love the video demonstrations as well. The only issue I find is with the cardio workouts that require so much space. I live in a tiny apartment and have limited workout space which is one of the reasons why I choose this app in first place. Another issue is that, if doing any other workout other than the signature Gorilla Workout, one has to scroll through all workouts to find the one(s) that are being done. I have all of them so it's a pain. I wish they had a dedicated section for workouts currently doing. I combine several different ones sometimes to get an all around but more intense effect and I don't want to spend my time scrolling through workouts to find the ones I'm doing. It really is a pain. Other than that, great workouts that are strengthening, fat burning and quick to do!

### 5/5 — Amazing app, Runs smoothly, lots of variety.

*2024-04-28, version 6.0.4*

I LOVE IT

### 5/5 — Jamie S

*2023-05-16, version 6.0.4*

I have used this app constantly for a number of years, I think it’s amazing and definitely a go too for me when I need to ground myself following a period of inconsistency - increasingly it doesn’t appear to be supported by Apple which is a shame - personally I will continue to use it till it eventually dies out on my phone which sadly could be anytime soon!

### 5/5 — Used it for years

*2023-04-13*

Love this app. Every time I use it consistently I feel better. I haven’t always lost weight but I have gotten stronger and I always feel healthier and better about myself which is the real goal right? I have arthritis in my hands and back and have been pregnant while using it. Some exercises I have to modify or swap out to address my personal needs. Like I have to do wall pushups instead of normal ones because of the pressure on my wrists. Tutorials are clear and straightforward. I would love to see a low impact and/or natal workout added to the list of workouts.

### 5/5 — Nice Body Weight Wokouts

*2023-03-16, version 6.0.4*

You don’t need much equipment to get in shape and this app shows you just how to do it! Great body weight workouts abound!
Love it!

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2023-02-02, version 6.0.4*

Work outs are easy and so quick! Feeling the burn!!!

### 5/5 — Push-ups

*2022-12-29, version 6.0.4*

I bought this when there was one program: push-ups. I did the workouts and lifted lightly in between and got up to 125 consecutive push-ups. The other workouts have also been great.

### 5/5 — Great App & Progression

*2022-12-10, version 6.0.4*

Great easy to use app! Love how you progress from beginner to harder work outs. Very motivating and well thought out exercises.

### 5/5 — Good
