### 2/5 — App crashing

*2025-09-20*

Please could you fix the app. I have the latest version , using on ipad. I have many issues and subscription i had before and i cant access . The app wont even function at all .. just crashes as soon as you open it. I was wanting to renew a subscription. I have latest version. Nothing to update Please could you fix ! :-) Thank you

### 3/5 — App not working!

*2023-10-04*

Been a subscriber through the app for 10+ years. The app refuses to open since the app update three weeks ago. Just a black screen, then after 20-30 seconds it closes. Love the mag, I bought it religious when I lived in Oz and missing my bit of home. Fix the bug guys!

### 3/5 — Standards dropping

*2019-10-30*

This is the comment I made when AGT went digital for the first time.

“This is one of the best applications transferring hard copy content to digital format that I have come across. Your IT and design people should be congratulated for providing an excellent user interface without losing the AGT hard copy feel that I have enjoyed for more than twenty years.”

Since the change of ownership of the magazine and the very obvious cuts in their budget AGT has become a shadow of its former self. Syndicated articles from elsewhere in the Bauer empire with little relevance to the Australian context, political editorials which are better left to our news papers, downgrading and dumbing down of recipe content all have contributed to my new rating. I have noticed with the replacement of the editor that there has been a slight improvement in content, hence my rating of three stars.

From a subscriber of more than 25 years.

### 3/5 — Unfriendly layout

*2019-01-03*

The new layout is terribly bad and small. It’s very hard to read the recipes now. Looks very much like a copy of Saveur magazine. I’ve complained a few times but have had no response.

### 2/5 — Complete disdain for your audience/ customers

*2018-10-13*

A completely unreadable (on the intended device) piece of junk. Bauer and the the editorial team should be embarrassed and ashamed.

### 1/5 — Would give minus stars if I could

*2018-07-28*

Download and keeps asking for ‘secure connection’ and won’t download new or old purchase. Preview has gone. Terrible organisation. “Not happy Jan!”

### 3/5 — And back to being just a PDF reader

*2018-05-15*

Great content, but not at all optimised for tablet.
It’s quite unpleasant zooming in and out of a magazine page.
Was much better when GT made a proper interactive edition.

### 1/5 — You broke it again

*2018-04-15*

After reverting for an all too brief period to the user friendly, interactive version of the app that I loved, the April 18 edition is once again little more than a PDF of the magazine. Disappointing and hugely frustrating.

### 1/5 — Broke it again

*2018-03-27*

Just when I thought it was safe to renew my subscription, you have broken the app again. It is back to being a PDF, not the interactive magazine that I loved.

### 1/5 — New Version of the app is terrible

*2017-12-22*

It now reads like GT have taken the paper version and thrown it up on line. This app used to lead the market. The user experience is terrible. I’m canceling my subscription.

### 1/5 — Terrible App not functioning!

*2017-11-05*

So frustrating.... Love the magazine but this app continuously crashes and shuts down. Can't get past 2 pages and it crashes. I've wasted too much time trying to figure out issue. Will be canceling subscription and need a refund. Terrible app seriously... What a shame.

### 1/5 — would give no stars if I could

*2017-08-28*

The new format in the September edition is awful. Not interactive, diffucult to manouver around, unable to link to articles from contents or index. Seems like some of the articles are greatly reduced.

### 1/5 — Why?

*2017-08-27, version 6.1*

New update is terrible. Can't open the Sept 17 version for more than 30 seconds without it crashing, and in those 30 seconds before the crash, it is almost impossible to change pages. I have been a subscriber to the e version for 4 years and will be discontinuing if this isn't fixed.

### 2/5 — Don't save your favorites

*2017-05-09*

This is a fantastic magazine offline. Online you have to manually type in recipe names before saving/bookmarking. But when they upgraded the app, the hours I spent saving recipes were all wiped. I had to restore all my purchases, without the bookmarks. I contacted the magazine who pretty much said their clients would all have to start over. Not wasting my time again only to have it happen during their next upgrade...

### 1/5 — What's happened?

*2017-01-29, version 6.0*

Can't download the upgrade because it doesn't appear in the Apstore. So paying for nothing

### 1/5 — They broke it

*2016-12-05, version 6.0*

New version doesn't work at all can't download and Gourmet Traveller has deleted my collection over the last 3 years as well as all my favourites. I want to cancel now

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Review

*2025-11-08*

Can not access my new magazines. Even though my subscription is still current

### 1/5 — App keeps crashing on iPad 9

*2025-09-30*

Great magazine but just upgraded the app and it keeps crashing. Aren’t these upgrades tested?!? I’ve just seen similar reviews - please sort out urgently and please make sure no loss of content.

### 1/5 — Why?

*2025-09-02*

New update is terrible. Can't open at all

### 1/5 — Lost access to back issues

*2024-07-12*

Heartbreaking- won’t renew. Not worth it.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2024-04-21*

The newest upgrade is not working for me. I have been subscribing to the digital version since inception. I cannot see any magazine earlier than 2022 and despite many emails to support have had no response. I have lost over 10 years of recipes. I would give 0 stars if it were possible.

### 1/5 — Version 9 is terrible

*2024-03-23*

I can’t access my back issues (which I cook from more frequently than recent ones). I won’t be renewing

### 1/5 — Bug

*2024-02-29*

Constantly trying to get me to subscribe when I have already purchased subscription and logged in.

### 1/5 — 8.0 update prevents access to all content - beware

*2023-10-03*

We updated to 8.0 last week. This version displays a black screen for a few seconds then crashes. No response from the support email address. Avoid.

### 1/5 — Permission to read EXPIRED?!

*2022-05-13, version 7.17*

I won’t be back. Seriously?

### 1/5 — Subscription

*2021-02-25*

Read permission expires after several months and request to renew appear at a cost of $3.99.
This is unreasonable for a product that has been purchased already

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — No customer service

*2023-11-27*

I have had a gourmet traveller subscription but had to reset my iPad and now can’t login. I have email Gourmet Traveller to fix but have had no reply.
Very poor customer service.

### 5/5 — Love this content

*2022-10-28*

Great for restaurant ideas and reviews

### 5/5 — Bring back the dinners

*2019-07-21*

Hello
I’ve been a subscriber for over 30 years and always enjoy my monthly editions.

One of my favourite was the Gourmet Traveller dinners. It was always the best opportunity to experience a new restaurant or experience at its best.

I would love to see them back!

Silvana

### 5/5 — Something is not right

*2017-08-28*

September issue only downladed after I paid for it.. now I still have 4 months until my current subscription exprires.

Terrible update. Not interactive. Feels like a magazine but only on an iPad. If I have next month same issue the subscription will be cancelled.

Before anyone starts my IOS is the latest.. it's not my iPad nor IOS..

### 5/5 — Great magazine, great app

*2016-01-26*

Love this magazine. High quality, beautiful photos & wonderful food. Terrific mixture of the two things I love best - travel & food.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2014-03-03*

Love print but one look at iPad version of this mag really makes me want to subscribe digitally. App maximises interactive features and allows you to see all images (most) large. Incorporation of video is also great. It is the best magazine app I've seen so far.

### 5/5 — Brilliant magazine, Great App

*2014-01-31, version 1.10.0*

My digital monthly highlight is when the new GT is available for download. I have been a GT subscriber for years and have been more than happy to swap the mountains of old magazines piled up in corners (because you never know when you will need THAT recipe) for this wonderful electronic format!

### 5/5 — Love this!

*2014-01-28*

There are some magazines that just don't translate well from the print issue but Gourmet Traveller is not one of them. The pictures are awesome; the articles, brilliant and the recipes, simply divine. As this is one of my favourite mags, to have it on hand wherever I am is a real treat. I used to tuck the print issue away in my bag (it's my staple carry-on reading matter) and curse when I'd forgotten it but now, it's always with me regardless of where I am. The cost of the in-app purchases are negligent and since the e-version is less than the printed version it's an even bigger bonus.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2014-01-23, version 1.10.0*

It's one of life's little thrills each month when I download my new issue of Gourmet Traveller. It's so inspiring on many levels, the amazing recipes, beautiful holiday destinations & fantastic articles and advice on where to eat & drink always have me planning my next trip or dinner party. The photography and styling always makes it look like you could reach out and touch, smell and feel whatever is in the shot. And yes the download may take a few minutes as mentioned in other reviews but its a whole lot better than having to bin mountains of paper in 12 months time when your issues stack up. It really is a first world frustration so just hit the download button, go and make yourself a cup of tea be grateful for the technology and chill out!

### 5/5 — Great magazine

*2014-01-08*

Love the Gourmet Traveler magazine. The apps is very interactive and offers as well a great recipe video. The only negative point I see is that the apps and the issues take lots of storage space which is a bit annoying. Would have preferred it to be a cloud apps with minimal storage on my iPad.
