However it was not quite as straightforward as suggested in as much that I had to create an account, download an app, scan my passport in two places, and take a selfie scan before I could proceed with my application. Many people of my generation are not as IT savvy as I am and therefore are likely to abandon the process and resort to a paper application ### 1/5 — Could be simpler? *2026-08-24, version 1.28.0* Surely this could be simpler? I had to enter approx 3 or 4 verification codes along the way. Doesn’t work at all. Help options have conflicting advice to take photographs with ID in the palm of your hand, then a white background before telling you while taking the photograph that you should avoid a white background. When you somehow get it to work it fails anyway so you just use more traditional means. So glad to delete this rubbish from my devices. This is an app devised by government ministers and politicians who think computers/IT systems are made of magic, rainbows and pixie dust! ### 1/5 — Rubbish setup *2026-08-27, version 1.28.0* Idiotic setup said there shouldn’t be any glare whilst taking the passport picture and the passport has shiny lines all around pictures so it’s impossible to not have glare. Took ages just to scan the passport pic page.
