## What is GPS Range Finder?

GPS Range Finder app that provides insights into your performance on the golf course based on your dispersion range. Understanding your dispersion in yards and feet on each distance you hit will help you understand your current ability and help you play better golf now while you continue to improve with your dispersion practice sessions.

Golf dispersion refers to the spread of golf shots around a target. It measures how consistently a golfer hits their shots relative to a desired point, typically the hole or a designated target area. Dispersion is an important concept in golf because it can indicate a player's accuracy and precision with different clubs, distances and types of shots.

If a golfer hits 10 shots with a 7-iron, and the shots land within a 20-yard radius of the target, this radius represents the dispersion. If the shots are mostly clustered together with a few outliers, the golfer has high consistency but may need to work on accuracy.

Benefits of using Golf Dispersion

Shot Accuracy and Consistency

Understanding Patterns: By analyzing shot dispersion, golfers can identify consistent patterns in their play. For example, if shots tend to miss to the right, the golfer can adjust their stance or swing to correct this.

Improvement Areas: Recognizing areas where dispersion is wider helps in focusing practice sessions on specific aspects of the game that need improvement.

Strategic Course Management

Avoiding Hazards: Knowing the typical dispersion for each club helps in aiming shots to avoid hazards like bunkers or water. Golfers can aim for safer parts of the fairway or green, reducing the likelihood of penalties.

Optimal Targets: Understanding dispersion allows golfers to select optimal targets that increase their chances of landing in favorable positions, even if they don’t hit the perfect shot.

Club Selection

Choosing the Right Club: Dispersion data helps in choosing the right club for each shot. For instance, if a golfer knows that their 8-iron has a smaller dispersion range than their 7-iron, they might opt for the 8-iron in situations requiring precision.

Custom Fitting: Using dispersion data, clubs can be custom fitted to match a golfer’s swing characteristics, reducing dispersion and enhancing performance.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.0 — 2024-12-26

The new version had a Greens In Regulation Tracker section. This allows you to start working on more GIRs. Track if you are hitting approach shots short, in GIR, long or not even giving yourself an approach shot. By tracking your approach shots you will start giving yourself more opportunities and lowering your score.

### 2.9 — 2024-12-03

Added Short Game Practice in the More Section. This will help you practice repeatable shots with your approach shots. Improve your dispersion with practice on the driving range from various distances. Practice to see if you can get five shots in a row with each of your approach shot clubs. You can only advance up your clubs after achieving five shots that are good in a row. Start with your Sand Wedge -> Pitching Wedge -> 9 Iron -> 8 Iron -> 7 Iron -> 6 Iron and 5 Iron. This is much hard than it looks. Pretend you are aiming at a green that is 30yds by 30yds and try to have the ball within 15 yards of the pin.

### 2.8 — 2024-09-03

Added on/off switch in settings for suggested clubs.

### 2.7 — 2024-09-01

Added images to documentation.

### 2.6 — 2024-08-24

Bug fixes for 2.5 version
