You can sometimes do basic things like transferring photos really slowly, but trying to do things like firmware update is impossible. I mean the entire library even the pictures have nothing to do with your GR camera. I’m an app developer so I know this app does not need the permission to transfer pictures. So they are either 1)extremely incompetent making an app for a camera that’s over $1500 or 2) be there stealing your data. I don’t see any other reason for this. ### 1/5 — Drags down the experience. *2026-07-01, version 1.4.0* The GR is the most convenient camera in production. This app is the most inconvenient and invasive app imaginable given the cameras it’s made for. RICHO, we gave you thousands of dollars for a camera made in China. We didn’t buy it so we could give away personal information over and over again. “Data not linked to you”? In fact, the app is so poorly made that I’m going to return my camera. I’ve used cameras from almost all major brands, and the Ricoh app is the most horrendous one by a wide margin ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Enhances Best Street Photography Cameras *2026-06-19* Ricoh has done a nice job of fixing the bugs in earlier versions of the app. The app easily connects using both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. GR World adds useful functions to the best street photography pocket cameras. GPS tagging of photos is a nice feature. Syncing the camera with the iPhone date and time provides a huge help for photographers on the move globally, that is crossing time zones and the international dateline. Copying photos to the iPhone works fine, but have not done this much. The app appears to be very stable. I encounter two issues: 1) every time i click import images from the app and use that to turn on the camera, it will fail the first time, and work the second time you click it. This bug slows the process down. 2) You can only import in original size files, or XS. I wish I could import a S/M sized JPG, something in between, since the 1.5MP XS files are noticeably grainy even on a small phone screen. ### 4/5 — Great app!
