However, do not attempt to zoom into a video Sermon after you’ve adjusted the playback speed, as it tends to reset to normal. Overall, would recommend this app as a learning resource. ### 3/5 — Please fix bugs *2026-08-18, version 1.7.8* I have enjoyed the GTY app for years and have recommended it to many people however, it seems the updated app has a lot of faults that were not there in the old version. The play all tab that enables you to play a whole series without going back to click on individual sermons is no longer there. Also if you pause a sermon it is difficult to go back to the exact point where you stopped. Could you fix these problems. Furthermore, the topical series does not display all the sermons like before. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I enjoy the sermon archive where I listen based on bible book and chapter. I am constantly going to this part of the app. I wish the app either made the link to this on the top of the first page or made it easier without scrolling. The web version is worse. I have to dig for the sermon archive link using web mobile version. The transcripts are really only usable on the web version. On the app it is on a floating overlay that will close I you touch anywhere off it loosing the scroll position. Then you have to start over and find where you left off. So I end up using the web version more often. I also wish the app maintained the state so when it was opened it would return for instance to the sermon archive. How do you pause the audio or back it up while following with the transcript? You can’t! Groan, you need two devices, one to listen on and the other to read on. This is not designed by a user that uses the app! ### 5/5 — Wonderful App *2026-04-21, version 1.6* When the new/updated app was released, I was devastated that some of the wonderful features had disappeared. I’m so happy to now see my recently listened to sermons in my history and I’m able to pick up right where I left off in the study. Wonderful work to the entire Grace to You team. It just took a little while to work out some kinks, I’m sure. Thank you, sincerely, that you do not peddle the Gospel like so many. I pray this and other resources remain free for all who come in future generations. What a wonderful resource with a wealth of sound doctrine to be mined and digested. Several other reviews mention the same problem. I miss the old app. It was much easier to use and navigate. This app is loaded with resources to learn so much about the Bible. It just crashes sometimes when I listen to a sermon multiple times. I need to listen many times to each sermon to “fully absorb” every word about every verse. ### 3/5 — Difficult to quickly navigate *2026-04-02, version 1.6* I love this app, however it is difficult to locate sermons. I always have to scroll to find the verse. I want to listen to. It would be easier if we can choose our chapters and verses of the book that we want to listen to it once was like that before and it was a lot easier. Then the only way to listen is to close the phone and reopen so you can drag the progress bar back to the beginning, or to find the spot where you left off. Pastor MacArthur is a great teacher but the bugs make it harder to follow his messages. John MacArthur is known as “the great expositor”, so you would assume the app is built to listen to him preach through books of scripture. Wrong. If you type the chapter that you want, to pick up on where you left off, you have to do considerable work to find the next sermon for the next passage. The way that it should work is that you have a spot where you can choose the book, chapter, and then scroll down through the list of sermons from that chapter. That’s a basic idea. Instead you type in “Matthew 8” and the top list of sermons will be some from verse 14, verse 28, verse 5. No order, no flow. If you click on the series box below, it’s like a mystery box. You have no idea what is in those boxes, so you have to pray you get the right one. It’s very sad that this app so poorly reflects one of the greatest men to ever live. Someone is not being respectful of his great legacy and they need to be let go. ### 1/5 — Bring back the old app *2026-02-18, version 1.4* The update is so buggy. It doesn’t keep track of what I’ve listened to, if I close the app and reopen it the sermon I was listening to is gone. It loads so slowly. And it’s difficult to find sermons. I hope this gets fixed or reversed to what it used to be. ### 1/5 — Not a good update *2026-01-19, version 1.3* The update falls short in several ways: 1. Unable to quickly navigate to sermons. 2. Unable to to return to app and listen to sermons currently being played. 3. Unable to share a sermon. 4. Choosing a sermon by scripture includes 1 John when of choosing only the Gospel of John. 5. Transcripts a re not consistently appearing with the sermon. Add sermon numbers back, please, so that chronological sets of sermon series can be easily identified. Less pictures, more of the title. I can’t see the whole title when searching. And the ability to remember what sermon you’re listening to and where you are seems sort of basic. It’s so so frustrating. It’s so much more user friendly! Would you consider making the dates (year) more visible or add back sequence numbers, so that you can see which sermon to listen to next as they were preached? I am hoping though that while scrolling down the transcript to follow along, if you click out of that screen for something else (the audio is still going) and then come back to the screen it will show you where you’d left off previously? Kind of like, if you read the comments of a YouTube video on your phone on the Chrome browser (and not the YouTube app) once you’ve been somewhere else and come back you are on top of all the comments again. But if you read the comments on the app, it will stay where you last left off scrolling. Also (I haven’t done this very recently but in previous versions of the app) I tried adding videos on the playlist (a feature in this app) hoping the next one in order will play automatically so I don’t have to maneuver the screen while driving, but it did not work that way at the time. (Now I stick with browsing by date cuz I enjoy listening to the sermons in the order they were preached) I wonder if you plan to add such features in the future. About listening to the sermons by date, (I randomly started in the middle of 1989 after tracing back from a radio broadcast back to the original message and now working through November 1991 sermons) It would be kind of nice if the drop down would stay at 1991 and not always shoot back up to 2024 — but that might be a tall order I understand, not sure if I’d seen that in any other websites. Overall, just wanted to thank you running this app even though Pastor John MacArthur is no longer with us on this earth to preach fresh sermons or record new openings or interviews for the radio broadcast. Thanks for your stewardship — though I am not able to donate at the moment and feel bad about always, I want to express my sincere thanks for the workers at Grace to You and for donors who give for beneficiaries like me.. I like how the sermon archive is set up. The ONLY thing I don’t like is that when I download the audio it doesn’t do it in sequence. And they don’t play one right after another. I like Falling asleep to his sermons and enjoy hearing it when I wake up in the middle of the night. Or when I am working. I own a business that I work with my hands and taking a break to find a new sermon is kinda rough. Gets my phone all dirty.
