It works well and has great functionality. But how about the ability to batch email student grade reports from the iPad? I used to use the Mac version to do this but the Mac version won’t be updated. The web version introduced a nasty bug that stopped dropping low scores when I batch emailed my student reports. So why not just add this functionality to the iPad version? ### 4/5 — Nice extension to Gradebook *2016-01-02, version 3.2.5* This app is NOT a substitute for having Gradebook on my PC at school, but it saves me time entering assignment grades as I'm correcting at home. I wish it would link with Google Drive because that's what our school uses for shared resources and backups - adding that functionality would make this a 5. ### 4/5 — Good Teaching Utility *2014-10-14, version 3.1.3* I have been using Gradekeeper for at least 5 years now. The current version is very helpful and easy to use. All my grades are right on hand, easily altered if students resubmit work, and easy to display. Recent update makes it even better. Only 4 stars because I would like to see Google Drive support (currently has Dropbox) and it does take a little time (not much) to figure out all of the options. I don’t understand why you can’t open a file from a cloud service. Thanks! ### 2/5 — Too American and not possible to adapt for UK teaching. *2013-07-11, version 2.0* I can see how this might be useful. You can keep track of class attendance and marks. You can even organise your attendance based on a seating plan. It will average the marks for you if you wish. The lingo is very US based (extra credit and such). And here lies the problem. As a secondary teacher in the UK I need a mark book that can handle percentages as well as Key Stage 3 levels. Sometimes I need to just enter effort grades for formative assessments. At the moment I can't seem to adapt this. A pity. You also can't move the desks around on the seating plan. So unless your classroom is laid out in rows it doesn't really work as there isn't the possibility of putting the desks in groups or a seminar square. Give it a try if you teach in an American high school. For the UK I'd say stick with google spreadsheets for the moment. ### 5/5 — Best Grade Book Ever! *2013-04-18, version 2.0* Wow! This is an awesome Grade book for me to use for my Sunday School class. It works fine and is really fast at doing everything! Worth my money!! :) Just wish I could tell my students that they can see their grade online without me showing them. Great App though! ### 5/5 — Nice *2013-04-12, version 2.0* I think this app is excellent. I was using the pc version and recently went to the iPad app just to check it out. I really like it is fully compatible with my pc in terms of transferring. For those who have problems, follow the FAQ section clearly and there really shouldn't be a problem. I think I would continue to set up my iPad on my pc but then transfer it over once I have it all set up I would use the iPad. Reports that can be generated are really helpful as well. iOS app feels a bit like a port but I have no complaints since the description of what it can do and how it looks is accurately advertised. Developer responds quickly to queries, and has said that Dropbox support is the number-one requested feature. This is the only app I use that requires manual iTunes sync. Thankfully, the dev has created an app free of bugs. ### 5/5 — Great App! *2013-01-31, version 2.0* So easy to use...simplified my life. The reports are easy to access and its a great way to keep students and parents informed. ### 3/5 — Gradebook *2012-12-18, version 1.9* I have had the full version for Mac for several years, so when the iPad version came out. I had to get it. Very nice, but I miss some of the functions of the full version: single student absence reports, attendance reports w/ excused absences listed. I too would like something that could go into Dropbox so I could have everything available for the laptop and the iPad. I am trying to use the iPad version for in-class attendance so I won't have to print it out on paper. I am going to try something similar for grade keeping. I agree that the developer responds very quickly. ### 5/5 — Buy this App! *2012-12-07, version 1.9* I have been teaching since I was a TA in grad school and have tried every grading program at one time or another. Gradekeeper is by far the best. It is intuitive to use and feature rich. Best of all, the programmer answers all queries and is quick to update the program once a new version of the OS comes out. ### 4/5 — Convenient but clumsy *2012-11-10, version 1.9* This is a great way to be able to work from home and maintain the grade book . It's not the most intuitive interface but if you work with it and give it time it does become a lot easier to use. I hope future updates will make it function more like the desktop version but for now the portability of the iPad version works for me. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not for me... *2013-08-22, version 2.0* Maybe it's more useful if you use the Gradekeeper program on your desktop, but it did not work for my classes, and I did not appreciate having to pay for the app to find that out. Plus, it was really difficult for me to import my class rosters. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2013-05-16, version 2.0* I love the desktop version. However, this is formatted NOTHING like the desktop version. Can't we get it to work and look more like the grading spreadsheet. The desktop version is simplistic and have been using it for years. I have recommended the desktop version to soooo many colleagues. It is a cumbersome task to transfer grades back and forth through the ipad version and desktop. Besides the ipad version looks and works nothing like the desktop one. New DropBox access made things even easier. Syncs perfectly with the desktop app via Dropbox ... Now able to sync with Dropbox on my iPad - it makes taking attendance a snap. The author is a great guy and will answer any question in a flash. I'm a long time desktop user (I love the simplicity) and to have the mobility to work on the iPad and switch to the desktop version when needed....priceless. I am still exploring all the new possibilities, but I love the fact that individual student's marks can be printed or emailed (I am looking forward to easier communication with parents!). I am still figuring out how to use this app with drop box, but when I do, I am confident that it will become even more useful. My only wish is that I could email or print whole class reports (Maybe with just the current grades? Much like the list that pops down when selecting a student from the class list). I have used this app for years. This is the grade system for you. The ipad Gradekeeper can do everything you need, and when you also have the desk top version, your grades and reporting are under your complete control. ### 5/5 — I LOVE THIS APP *2013-06-10, version 2.0* Gradekeeper for IPAD is very easy to use. It is quick and easy. I take attendance in a snap and grades are done in no time. The parents love the reports. What makes it great is the fact that it is not Internet dependent. My school now requires me to use something else. It is so slow since I always have to wait for it to be saved on the Internet. Gradekeeper has a quick sync and it's done.
