## What is Gradiance?

Gradiance empowers you to design elegant gradient backgrounds that can be utilized as wallpapers for your macOS, iOS, and iPadOS devices. The entire screen becomes your canvas. The app has been meticulously crafted to provide an intuitive user-friendly interface. Its design prioritizes simplicity and compactness, ensuring minimal interference. You can effortlessly conceal the controls with a simple click or tap and adjust the position on the screen.

Creating a gradient is as easy as 1-2-3! Begin by setting the desired number of control points across the width and height of your screen. Gradiance automatically generates evenly spaced points and randomly assigns colors to each one. Then, you can experiment and have fun selecting each control point you wish to modify, alter its color and opacity, and adjust its horizontal and vertical position to achieve visually appealing gradient effects. Finally, when you have a gradient design you are happy with you can save it to a png file (on macOS) or export it to Photos to assign as your wallpaper. The image is automatically optimized for the size and resolution of your screen.

### 1.2 — 2025-09-29

This version features better support for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS 26 (adopting liquid glass throughout the user interface - including frosted liquid glass backgrounds for the welcome and controls as they float over the gradient, added icons for menu items (in macOS), and regular, dark, clear, and tinted icons). Improvements in the controls layout structure for better sizing on all platforms, refinements to control placement in Point Settings section and changing the Options section to focus on the Controls Position (with a new tab icon as well).

### 1.1 — 2025-06-23

This version refines the point settings section of the controls by using a popup menu to select control points instead of a list. This change greatly reduces the amount of space required while providing the same functionality and can even be faster if you need to select points at different ends of the grid as you can do so with far less scrolling. I also squeezed a bit more space out of the interface by moving the color picker for the points up beside the new menu. While this difference might not seem like much on a Mac or iPad with larger screen sizes, it is a pretty dramatic reduction on an iPhone where space is at a premium.

The control points are also now grouped with dividers in the new popup menu based on the grid setup to provide better context for their initial layout (for example, it is now easy to see 3 groups of 4, or 4 groups of 3, etc. and keep track of where the edges are).
