## What is Graft?

Graft keeps sole traders on top of tax while they are out earning.

Miles log themselves. Receipts get read and filed the moment you photograph them. Invoices go out right first time. And your records build up as you work, instead of in a panic in January.

Whatever you do, Graft speaks your trade. A hairdresser files products and chair rent, a courier files parking and tolls, a cleaner files supplies. Pick your trade once and the whole app uses your words.

MAKING TAX DIGITAL FOR INCOME TAX
If your self-employment and property income is over the threshold, HMRC now wants digital records and quarterly updates rather than one return a year. Graft keeps those records as you go and has your quarterly figures ready, so being signed up is not extra work. Direct filing to HMRC opens in the app shortly.

IF YOU ARE ON CIS
Graft tracks every deduction taken off your payments, shows what is likely due back, and builds invoices with the deduction and reverse charge already worked out.

• Snap receipts. Stock, materials, fuel and tools read and filed automatically
• Automatic mileage. Business trips logged in the background at HMRC's rates
• Expense categories in your own trade's words, whatever you do
• What can I claim? The costs your trade usually has that you have not logged
• Your tax position updated as you go, not guessed at year end
• Making Tax Digital records kept as you work, with your quarterly figures ready
• Invoices built for you, CIS-correct where that applies
• A free portal for your accountant, so they get clean numbers

Built for the van, the round and the job, not the desk.

GRAFT PRO SUBSCRIPTION
Graft is free to try for 7 days. Carrying on needs a Graft Pro auto-renewable subscription: £11.99 a month or £119.99 a year, billed to your Apple ID. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period; manage or cancel any time in your Apple ID subscription settings.

Graft is a record-keeping tool. It is not tax advice. Figures are a guide, not a promise; your accountant and HMRC confirm the final position.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.5 — 2026-08-10

Sign in with Apple is fixed. On some iPhones it failed the instant you tapped it, without ever showing Apple's sign-in sheet. If it still cannot complete on your device, Graft now tells you why and takes you straight to email sign-in, instead of asking you to try again.

New accounts also see their estimated position sooner, before being asked for any details, and the privacy and terms pages now open properly.

### 1.1.4 — 2026-08-04

A quieter release. The App Store listing now describes what the app does for every trade rather than just construction, and the app picks a more sensible moment to ask what you think of it.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-08-04

Invoices now work properly whatever your trade.

If you are not on CIS, a new invoice no longer starts with a 20% deduction applied. Invoice lines take your trade's own words too, so a hairdresser bills for treatments and products rather than labour and materials. On CIS, nothing changes: the deduction and reverse charge are still worked out for you.

Sign in with Apple no longer shows an error when you simply back out of the Apple sheet, and genuine sign-in problems are now recorded properly so we can fix them rather than guess.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-08-02

Graft is for every sole trader now, not just construction.

Tell us what you do and the app uses your words. A hairdresser files products and chair rent. A courier files parking and tolls. A cleaner files supplies. Fourteen trades, each with the categories that trade actually has.

• New: What can I claim? The costs your trade usually has that are not in your records yet
• New categories for advertising, accountancy fees, rent and card charges, which had nowhere to go before
• Setting up now starts by asking what you do, so you are not asked about CIS unless it applies to you
• On CIS? Nothing changes. Every deduction is still tracked, and your invoices are still CIS-correct

Connecting a bank or Xero has moved out of the app while we finish that work with accountants.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-07-30

The biggest Graft update yet — built for every self-employed tradesperson, CIS or not.

• Sign in with Apple — one tap, no forms
• Subscribe right in the app
• See your year: monthly earnings, where the money went, and your refund's journey from estimate to accepted
• Log private jobs alongside contractor work
• Chase a missing CIS statement by email in one tap
• Edit any payment or statement
• Notifications for accountant messages, deadlines and refund milestones
• A cleaner look on every screen, plus a quick set-up checklist

Not in CIS? Graft now tracks the tax bill to set aside, payments on account included.
