Grainera is a museum of photographic history. It is a walk through 175 years of how we have made images, from the very first silver plates to the early digital age. Choose any of 43 photographic eras and watch your photo become that moment in history. Each era is a faithful recreation of a real process or device class: the haunting blue-weighted tones of 1850s wet plates, the dreamy dyed-starch grain of the first colour, the milky white border of instant film, the four shades of green from a 1990s toy camera, the cool flash of an early-2000s compact. Every look is rendered natively on your device. A LIVING TIMELINE Spool through history like a film roll. A museum placard names each era and its year, with a short wall-label note on the process behind it. Narrow the timeline by period, colour, or medium to find exactly the wing you want to explore. SHOOT OR IMPORT Use the live camera to frame the world through any era in real time, or bring in a photo from your library. Then step through the decades until you find the look that fits. Emulsion Transfer 1985 — instant-film emulsion lifted onto watercolor paper: torn edges, wrinkles, one of a kind. Night-Vision Video 1998 — infrared camcorder night mode: glowing green, noisy, and slightly eerie. Starting with this version, Grainera sends a small set of fully anonymous usage statistics – for example, which eras get exported most often. This helps us decide which filter eras should join the museum next. What this means in practice: No photos, no photo metadata – your images never leave your iPhone, and all image processing still happens 100 % on-device.
