It means we will not be able to make our lunch appointment before we go to a matinee performance. There must be a better way given the prices charged for this lack of service. Said I should catch the next train but I’m not guaranteed a seat. That I paid for journey and seats are complimentary ### 1/5 — Dreadful service *2023-03-09, version 3.0* Got the train from Eaglescliffe to London at 9.40 this morning , it’s 1415 and I’m still on my way to London. First train terminated at Doncaster due to a shortage of trains, told to get the Hull train which I did, that terminated at Huntingdon due to a windscreen wiper being faulty. If I had driven I would have been at my final destination by now. Warning. Don’t let the train take the strain.. unless of course it’s an LNER which I have always found to be excellent.. ### 1/5 — Utterly terrible *2019-08-06, version 1.1* Impossible to use. Tells me I need to re-register (having just taken my money) but can’t access my ticket. Tells me I need to “activate” ticket, but without telling me how to do this. Will just use East Coast Mainline instead. Grand Central used to be really, really good and personal. Sorry, but buying a ticket is far too complex I will go elsewhere instead. ### 1/5 — Unable to display ticket. *2019-08-01, version 1.1* I bought a ticket on the Grand Central website and opted for E-tickets. I had to get the GC App to do this. On the morning of travel, the App wouldn’t open. As I couldn’t show a ticket, technically, I was travelling without a ticket. Advice was to not book GC - good advice I feel unless the App starts to work as it should. Very poor service. ### 2/5 — Lacking Mordern Features *2026-01-06, version 3.11.0* No E-Tickets, no Apple Pay, having to enter account details manually, autofill on fields doesn’t work Filtering tickets greys out others, doesn’t reduce the list. Looking at later or earlier times takes ages to load. Requires full calendar access to save journey to calendar, this is unnecessary Requests cookies but the app works when rejecting all, why use cookies then? It’s easy to find services and the best fares. Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to cancel my most recent booking and rang the help line. The person I spoke to was friendly and very helpful and arranged a refund straight away.
