At Grand Designs Australia Magazine we believe in the transformative power of good design.  Each issue Editors Peter Maddison and Kate St James scour the countryside to bring you the most stunning designer homes, many of which have not yet been seen on TV, and tell the roller coaster story of how design facilitates lifestyle.  Our homes cover a diversity of styles and budgets; some new builds, some conversions, and some renovations.  Each issue is a also sourcebook of quality design – complete with floor-plans, look guides, designers, contacts and signature products to inspire a rethink of your own home space.  

Following the UK TV show’s huge success, the first television series of Grand Designs Australia launched to wide acclaim from loyal viewers of the UK series.  Grand Designs Australia Magazine is a natural progression from the TV series to the printed format.  Grand Designs Australia Magazine will showcase exciting houses from the Australian and UK TV shows along with projects by Australian homeowners, architects, builders, renovators, owner-builders and designers.

Subscription includes the Grand Designs SourceBook.

This is a free app download. Within the app users can purchase the current issue and back issues.


Subscriptions are also available within the application. A subscription will start from the latest regular issue at the time of purchase.


-The subscription will renew automatically unless cancelled more than 24 hours before the end of the current period. You will be charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period, for the same duration and at the current subscription rate for the product.
-You may turn off the auto-renewal of subscriptions through your Account Settings, however you are not able to cancel the current subscription during its active period.
-Payment will be charged to your iTunes account at confirmation of purchase and any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when a subscription to that publication is purchased.
-If a subscription offers a free trial, at the end of the trial period, you will be charged the full price of the subscription. You may cancel a subscription during its free trial period via the subscription settings on your iTunes account. This must be done 24 hours before the end of the subscription period to avoid being charged.


Users can register for/ login to a pocketmags account in-app. This will protect their issues in the case of a lost device and allow browsing of purchases on multiple platforms. Existing pocketmags users can retrieve their purchases by logging into their account.


We recommend loading the app for the first time in a wi-fi area so that all issue data is retrieved.
If your app will not load past the splash page after a first install or an update, please delete and reinstall the app from the App Store

I enjoy the content but the edition download takes forever and usually fails 2 or 3 times. I will not be renewing and will resume purchasing the paper version.

I just love the design sensibility shown in this magazine... 

We have dipped in and out of this mag constantly for our home makeover.  The sourcebook pages are brimming with ideas and it's good to get the perspective of design writers who are as passionate as we are.  They know the good stuff and will tell you where to get it. 

It's no wonder Australian architects are doing residential design work all over the world - they create spaces that are simultaneously calming and contemporary.  The Grand Designs Show and magazine show a design aesthetic that is liberating and livable.  Excellent.
