## Newest reviews (14 of 35)

### 3/5 — Ok

*2019-08-10, version 12.0.0*

My original review said that I could not download my magazine but I eventually found the restore option.

Not very clear ?

### 2/5 — Would be great if it could go five minutes without crashing

*2015-01-11, version 8.2.4*

Visually stunning but crashes every few pages, rendering it completely unusable. The developer needs to sort it out. Until then avoid!

### 4/5 — Disappearing GD

*2014-01-16*

Love GD mag. Much improved recently. But it no longer shows up on my newsstand?!
If I wish to read an edition I have to go back to GD's app. What is happening?

### 2/5 — Very Bad ! .........

*2013-02-23, version 6.6*

I downloaded the magazine thinking this will be great but took ages to download so started to get annoyed as can imagine...... Finally it downloaded so I clicked on. Nothing came up it won't do anything. Nothing ! I am angry! DO NOT DOWNLOAD !!!!!! ( even if its free .) A waste of my time. Thx !

### 2/5 — Crashes a lot

*2013-02-05, version 6.5*

Crashes every few minutes (can't turn the page). Have to quit, force it closed and reopen. Usability is poor in comparison to other magazine apps out there.

### 4/5 — Sync entire monthly issue

*2012-12-03, version 6.1*

To those who complain about load times; touch the star to the left of the issue in the menu list- syncs entire episode. No more load times.

### 1/5 — Not Free

*2012-10-06, version 6.1*

Takes time to download the free app then you have to pay from 3rd click

### 4/5 — Disappointing

*2012-09-17, version 6.1*

The content is good as with the paper magazine. The iPad version however takes at least 10 seconds to load. The interest to read the magazine is fading quickly in that way. There are much better electronic magazines out there and this one definitely is far from the standard

### 1/5 — Grand designs

*2012-07-01, version 5.1*

This has become a waste of money in a very short time. The first issues were well worthwhile. Now, almost every swipe leads to an advert. Most articles are thinly- disguised sales pitches. The original concept was a highly entertaining and educative free-to-air tv programme. The magazine and the app originally offered something similar.
But these publishers now seem to be living in the past - a world where people paid money to read adverts. Thanks, but I can do that for free elsewhere.
Give me good content with links to relevant suppliers and I will make links to the things that interest me. Or give me free content and I'll accept the adverts ... But I won't read them, just hasten past. That's the way of this technology.

### 1/5 — Don't bother unless you want to pay

*2012-02-12, version 5.1*

As other reviewers say, there is no content here unless you pay. Buy the magazine if you're that keen.

### 2/5 — Rubbish!

*2012-01-20, version 5.1*

Writings blury waste of time!

### 3/5 — iPad yes, but not ideal for iPhone

*2012-01-05, version 5.1*

Some people have not read the description or know what the plus symbol next to Free means. Of course you pay for full issues!!!

I love the magazine, but if you are like me and find a lot of enjoyment looking at the designs then small screens are pretty useless. Suppose this goes for all the newsstand magazines, the larger iPad screen is ideal but not iPhones or iPods. It is for this reason alone that I give it only 3 stars...maybe a bit unfair as the price is ok.

### 1/5 — Ripped off

*2011-12-30, version 5.1*

Don't bother you have to pay to view the whole magazine

### 1/5 — Absolute rubbish!

*2011-12-19, version 5.1*

How is this free? Don't bother downloading, you only get the cover page and contents, none of the actual magazine. :-(
You have to pay for it, so obviously the "free" button is at least misleading.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Very poor and no easy way to cancel subscription

*2017-08-20, version 10.0.1*

Very poor and no obvious way of cancelling subscription

### 1/5 — Design Fault

*2017-01-30, version 10.0.1*

This app is quite jerky when it comes to turning pages and does not flow - annoying with a magazine that puts photos across two pages. However, the most infuriating thing is the non-appearance of the regular supplements that the print editions carry. Other magazines manage to do this perfectly well so I cannot see why Grand Designs cannot provide a digital version of supplements. I have asked, but have been totally ignored. I won't be renewing.

### 1/5 — Unable to read previously bought magazines

*2015-02-22, version 8.2.4*

I had a subscription to this magazine I have just come back from a working trip abroad to see I can no longer access the editions that came with my subscription because I don't have a current subscription.

### 1/5 — Total CON!

*2015-01-04*

I had what I thought purchased 30+ issues, only to find when THEY changed the format my so called subscription was canceled and now I can not retrieve and previously purchased issues. They expect me to pay again.

### 1/5 — Don't buy, does not work!

*2013-01-31, version 6.5*

I had subscribed to Grand Design, first edition downloaded ok - that was the first and last time! It will not download any new editions, stuck in perpetual "restore in progress" now. Do not subscribe to this magazine!

### 1/5 — Unstable and poor content.

*2013-01-19, version 6.5*

Crashes regularly, very slow to load even with wifi and following advice of others on here and the majority of free pages are adverts, can't see enough to decide if it's worth buying the full version. I'll be going back to paper although that's difficult to find as not many places have it.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2013-01-19, version 6.5*

The magazine itself and its content is amazing. The app however leaves a lot to be desired... It gets stuck on the page you try to resize and you have no option but to shut down the app and restart it. They should do something about it ASAP.

### 1/5 — Great content but shocking execution

*2012-11-24, version 6.1*

The superb content is spoilt by the appalling time it takes to render each page. I can turn a paper page in the blink of an eye - I thought technology was supposed to offer advantages but the 20 seconds it takes to render each page is tedious and unacceptable. Subscription now cancelled. Great shame.

### 1/5 — Grand designs junk

*2012-10-13, version 6.1*

This is a disgusting app. The publishers should be ashamed to put such garbage on App Store. Apple should also be ashamed for shameful quality control. The app freezes, gets stuck on pages when you resize, it's almost as if they just uploaded a PDF and said that will do let's charge for it. Content is good its just a very bad app.

### 1/5 — Not free

*2012-10-08*

The only pages free are the first fell.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Omg

*2013-09-10, version 7.2*

Absolutely fan savvy

### 5/5 — Great app

*2013-03-03, version 6.6*

I found this to be a great magazine app. It took me a while to work out that you could sync back issues (star button to download for offline use) but after that it was perfect. Bear in mind if you save back issues it will take up space on your iPad. Love the active links like page buttons and website.

### 5/5 — Ground design

*2013-02-25, version 6.6*

Very Good.

### 5/5 — :)

*2012-01-17, version 5.1*

Good stuff!

### 5/5 — Amazing mag, great app

*2011-12-23, version 5.1*

So pleased I downloaded the app of this brilliant mag... They feature such gorgeous houses and it's a really brilliant read. Love the links to website, plus other pages within the magazine.

### 5/5 — Great App at Great Prices

*2011-12-18, version 5.1*

Love the TV show, always have so this is great content. Massive kudos also goes to the publishers for the pricing. Most magazine apps charge you more or less the cover price which reflects printing costs which of course they are not incurring with the electronic version. Here the cover price would be around $5 but they are charging less than half that which is very good and very enlightened......well done.

### 5/5 — yeah,it's cool !

*2011-12-17, version 5.1*

I love grand designs tv shows! It's fantastic!

### 5/5 — Mr

*2011-12-12, version 5.1*

Best app ever cool

### 5/5 — Been waiting for this!

*2011-12-03, version 5.1*

So pleased this is on iPad. Great magazine and fantastic app!

### 5/5 — Grand Designs

*2011-11-30, version 5.1*

Totally fabulous. The quality of the imagery is amazing. So handy to have live web links from all websites in the editorial and the ads too. Also live phone numbers. Great to see the stunning houses on the iPad - I'm a GD fan and this totally delivers.
