## What is GraphCalc 84?

A full graphing calculator with the layout and feel of a classic handheld — built for iPhone and iPad. Plot up to 9 equations, run TI-style programs, solve systems, fit regressions. No ads, no subscriptions, no internet required.

GraphCalc 84 is the classic graphing calculator, rebuilt for your phone — complete, faithful, and fast. If you know the TI-84, your muscle memory works on day one.

Graph everything. Function, parametric, polar, and sequence modes with nine equation slots, trace, tables (Auto or Ask), zoom — including ZoomStat — and full window control. Find zeros, minima, maxima, intersections, derivatives, and integrals right from the CALC menu.

Statistics, complete. Every hypothesis test and confidence interval — Z, T, 2-sample, proportions, χ², χ²-GOF, F, LinRegTTest, ANOVA — plus 1-Var/2-Var Stats and 13 regression models with TI-accurate quartiles. Visualize with scatter, xyLine, histograms, box-and-whisker, and normal probability plots, and shade distribution areas right on the graph.

Real fractions with ►Frac/►Dec and mixed-number display. Number bases from binary to hex with bitwise operators.

Your AI tutor (new in 1.7). Long-press any answer — or any error — for a clear step-by-step explanation. Ask for worked steps when a problem is beyond the built-in solver. Have your graphs described in plain language, from intercepts to asymptotes, computed by the calculator and narrated by AI. All AI features are optional: bring your own Anthropic API key, keep it securely on your device, and send nothing until you choose to. Without a key, GraphCalc 84 remains complete and fully offline.

Exact where you want it (new in 2.0). Switch ANSWERS mode to Auto and results stay mathematically exact — fractions, simplified radicals, multiples of π — with ►Dec one press away. Four symbolic commands bring real algebra: simplify, expand, factor with exact roots, and derivatives. Prefer decimals? Everything stays exactly as it was until you opt in.

Programmable. Write and run TI-BASIC programs — control flow, input/output, and the complete DRAW command set, down to reading pixels with pxl-Test(.

Beyond the original. A physical-units engine with dimensional analysis. Math Snap: point your camera at a problem, or write it by hand. A hub of 22 built-in apps — solvers, periodic table, physics constants, curve fitting, date math, and more. Twelve accessibility-tested themes, with a free web editor to design your own.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0 — 2026-07-22

What's New in 2.0 — Exact answers

The biggest engine upgrade in GraphCalc 84's history: your calculator can now do math the way your textbook does.

Exact mode. Flip MODE → ANSWERS to Auto and answers stay exact: 1/3 + 1/6 is 1/2, not 0.4999999. √(8) simplifies to 2√(2). π stays π — so 2π/3 displays as 2π/3, ready for the unit circle. Prefer decimals? Leave ANSWERS on Approximate and nothing changes; or press ►Dec on any exact answer to see its decimal.

Real algebra. Four new MATH commands work symbolically:

simplify( and expand( — combine like terms, multiply out products: (X+1)² becomes X² + 2X + 1.
factor( — with exact roots, including irrational ones: X² − 2 factors into (X − √(2))(X + √(2)). Cubics and beyond factor through rational roots.
d( — the derivative, exactly: d(X³ − 2X² + X − 7) is 3X² − 4X + 1.
Results come back as expressions you can copy, re-enter, and build on.

Built on bedrock. Every exact computation is verified digit-for-digit — anything the exact engine can't represent perfectly falls back to your familiar decimal answer rather than pretending. No wrong answers, no surprises.

From real statistics to a finished machine, an AI tutor, and now exact math — thank you for making GraphCalc 84 part of how you learn.

### 1.7 — 2026-07-21

What's New in 1.7 — Meet your AI tutor

Your calculator can now explain itself.

Explain this. Long-press any calculation in your history — an arithmetic slip, a regression readout, even an error message — and get a clear, step-by-step explanation of what happened and why. Errors are often the most valuable ones: it will tell you why the expression failed and how to fix it.

Step-by-step, smarter. The Step-by-Step tool still solves the classics instantly, offline, and free. But when a problem is beyond its built-in rules, a new "Ask AI for steps" option picks up right where it left off — numbered steps, one line of working at a time, finishing with the answer.

Describe this graph. A new CALC menu option analyzes whatever you've graphed — intercepts, zeros, maxima and minima, even likely asymptotes — computed by the calculator itself, then narrated in plain language. The analysis appears instantly and works without AI; the narration brings it to life.

On your terms. AI features are optional and use your own Anthropic API key (added once in Settings, stored securely on your device). Nothing is sent anywhere until you say so, nothing is stored, and without a key the calculator remains exactly the complete, fully offline TI-84 experience it's always been.

### 1.6 — 2026-07-20

What's New in 1.6 - This update completes the classic calculator experience, corner to corner.

Fractions that work. Press ►Frac and 0.75 becomes 3/4 — for real this time. Convert back with ►Dec, and flip between improper and mixed form with n/d↔Un/d. Fraction answers stay exact through recall and storage.

Think in hex. Switch MODE to Bin, Oct, or Hex and the calculator follows: type literals like 0hFF or 0b1010, see results in your base, and use and/or/xor as true bitwise operators. (Your stored programs are unaffected — they run identically in every mode.)

Draw on the graph. The DRAW menu is live: Line, Circle, Tangent, Shade, DrawF, DrawInv, Text, points and pixels — from the menu or inside your TI-BASIC programs, which can even read pixels back with pxl-Test( in a loop.

The little things. RCL (2nd+STO) recalls any variable's value straight into your expression. TBL SET (2nd+WINDOW) configures your table, including Ask mode for entering your own X values. And Select( lets you carve a subset out of any scatter plot, right on the graph.

Thanks for the reviews and feature requests — they decide what we build next.

### 1.5 — 2026-07-19

What's New in 1.5 — Statistics, for real

This is our biggest update yet: the entire statistics workflow now works end to end, just like the real TI-84.

Run every stat test. All 17 hypothesis tests and confidence intervals are here — Z-Test, T-Test, 2-sample tests, proportion tests, χ²-Test, χ²-GOF, 2-SampFTest, LinRegTTest, and one-way ANOVA — with both Data and Stats input forms and TI-faithful results screens.

Fit any model. The STAT ▸ CALC menu now computes for real: 1-Var and 2-Var Stats plus all 13 regression models, including Med-Med and QuartReg. Results store to RegEQ and the statistics variables, recallable right from the home screen — and a fitted equation can drop straight into Y= for graphing.

See your data. STAT PLOTS have arrived: scatter, xyLine, histograms, box-and-whisker (regular and modified), and normal probability plots, with three plot slots, a 2nd+Y= setup screen, and ZoomStat to frame your data perfectly. Distribution shading (ShadeNorm, Shade_t, Shadeχ², ShadeF) draws areas under the curve right on the graph.

Under the hood: TI-accurate quartiles, frequency-list support throughout, and hundreds of new automated tests checked against TI-84 worked examples on both iPhone and iPad.

If GraphCalc 84 helps you in class, a rating or review genuinely helps us keep building.

### 1.4 — 2026-05-21
