They will decline charges out of nowhere and customer service times are limited. Customer service reps aren’t very friendly or helpful. ### 3/5 — Ok but not great *2024-09-25* Cons: Grasshopper is not connected to Zelle so that limits the way my clients can pay me. The app gives an error almost every time I open it that it cannot display all my account info. To fix it, I just have to tap the error notification and it goes away but it is really weird and annoying. Pros: I like the high-ish interest rate for a basic checking account and transferring to and from other bank accounts and Venmo/PayPal is seamless. ### 4/5 — Long money holds *2024-07-17* Grasshopper offers a collection of features that not many other banks do. Automated book keeping through auto books integration, high yield checking account (1.5% currently) great customer service, invoicing, and lending options such as SBA. Unfortunately, the amount of time it takes deposited funds to clear is a bit lengthy (About a week). I also had a problem when initially applying where my application got “canceled in error” twice. Also, when transferring money from my personal bank account, I was notified in app that if I login to my personal bank with my credentials via plaid, I would have instant access to the transferred money. However, a transfer hold was still put on it and it won’t be available for a week. ### 4/5 — A lot of potential *2024-06-13* Grasshopper offers a collection of features that not many other banks do. (E.g. there’s no tools tab to access auto books) I also had a problem when initially applying where my application got “canceled in error” twice. However, a transfer hold was still put on it and it won’t be available for a week. ### 4/5 — Great for small business *2024-04-17* The bank is exceptional, they have great customer service, an easy to navigate online dashboard, and great benefits & incentives for small businesses. Would be a 5 star review if not for the app, the app could use a facelift and better functionality. Overall, I recommend Grasshopper to all of my clients at Purple Moose Consulting who are in the start up to small business phase of their journey! ### 3/5 — Works fine but limited visibility. *2024-02-06* Functional and generally does what I need it to do. The main complaint I have is that the description of the transactions is often obscure and limited making it difficult to identify what transactions are and who they’re for. This is especially frustrating with connected accounts that I have transferred money from many times yet still takes a week or more to clear. I have the free business checking that offers a 1% cash back for maintained balances of $10,000 or more. It’s is user friendly. The Chris complaint is the amount of time it takes for deposited funds to be available. It takes around a week or more to be honest. Go elsewhere for better benefits ### 1/5 — Disappointing onboarding *2023-04-25* I went through the trouble of trying to setup an account with grasshopper for my new business. The application was not approved and when I inquired why they told me that they couldn’t tell me why my account was denied “for security reasons”, but that I could apply as many times as I wanted. Don’t waste your time with them. ### 2/5 — Poor Client Services *2026-05-20* I don’t feel confident working with Grasshopper Bank. I initially contacted client services regarding an account error that needed correction, as well as a request for a bank letter. I was advised that the turnaround time would be approximately 24 hours, however it has now been 9 days without resolution. Additionally, the representative I spoke with did not submit the ticket or send the email she offered, which required me to call back and repeat the entire process. Unfortunately, my follow-up interactions have consisted largely of scripted responses rather than meaningful updates or progress toward resolving a simple issue. ### 2/5 — Inconvenient + Slow *2023-11-15* It’s one problem after another. Right now this apps review is not showing the text I am typing. Ridiculous and frustrating in both this and multiple banking issues ### 2/5 — Check Deposits Often Rejected *2023-09-27* This is very frustrating since it takes a day to acknowledge the deposit and then another day for the funds to be available after approval. Not one deposit rejection has been valid, it just results in a longer time for me getting access to the funds. ### 2/5 — For small operations *2023-09-14* Generally very nice and helpful people. Do not expect to be handling a lot of checks and deposits by way of checks are quite limited. You’re likely to run to into limits every month and that will not be nice if you’re running a business. They will take several WEEKS to cash checks. Once again you can’t Run any kind of business that way. They are good for a bank account in name only or maybe segregate some Funds from your real bank account. ### 2/5 — Horribly long holds and bad accounting *2023-08-14* Every time I make a deposit I get a notification it’s going to be on hold. Waiting for the funds to clear takes a couple weeks. So far the past two times I’ve done so there’s been large account errors in my account prior to the deposit. This time there was a recent -$4800 taken out. I’ll send an in app message and they fix it but this is pretty ridiculous. Love that there isn’t a cost for incoming wires nor ACH and outgoing wires is only $10! Heads up though that bounced wires are $45 each time it bounced which I learned the hard way lol also love the dual approval feature!
