## What is Gravity?

LEARN LANGUAGES THE FAST WAY - THROUGH VIDEOS!

(Now with Mandarin Chinese support!)

◆ Learn Japanese and Mandarin Chinese through the content you already love.
◆ Gravity is an immersion-first language app that turns real videos and music into personalized learning. Doomscroll short native clips, sing along in Karaoke Mode, or pick something from a hand-curated library of native videos, each one transcribed word by word and levelled for learners.
◆ Whether you're into anime, J-pop, C-dramas, music, or YouTube creators, Gravity helps you build real language skills through context instead of generic textbook lessons.

WHY CHOOSE GRAVITY?

→ Doomscroll to fluency: Moments turns scrolling into learning with a feed of short clips from native content.
→ Curated video library: native videos across anime, music, entertainment, creators, and more, levelled from complete beginner to advanced.
→ Word-synced transcripts: follow along word by word as the audio plays, with an English translation for every line that you can show or hide.
→ Karaoke Mode: follow the lyrics of songs you love, understand every line, and pick up vocabulary through music.
→ Tap to learn: tap any word for its reading, meaning, and an AI explanation, then save it in one tap.
→ Context-based flashcards: every saved word keeps the moment it came from, so you can replay the original clip while you review.
→ Smart spaced repetition: reviews are scheduled so each word comes back right before you'd forget it.
→ Practice right after watching: review the words you just saved as soon as you finish a video.
→ Daily word goals and reminders: stay consistent without overwhelming study sessions.

BUILT FOR EACH LANGUAGE

Japanese
→ Furigana, romaji, or no reading aids. Your choice.
→ Pitch accent graphs and dictionary meanings on every card.
→ Anime, J-pop, podcasts, streams, and more, levelled from Pre-JLPT to N1.

Mandarin Chinese
→ Pinyin with tone marks, or turn it off.
→ Simplified characters, with traditional forms shown alongside.
→ C-dramas, music, and more, levelled from Pre-HSK to HSK 6.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

◆ Real vocabulary and phrases, the way native speakers actually use them.
◆ Listening and reading skills through authentic videos, songs, and clips.
◆ Words from the shows, music, and creators you already watch.
◆ Language you'll actually hear, not just textbook examples.

WHO IT'S FOR

→ Anime, J-pop, C-drama, and music fans who want to learn from what they already love.
→ Learners who already spend hours watching videos and scrolling online.
→ Travelers, international students, and people living or working abroad.
→ Busy learners who want immersion to fit naturally into their day.
→ Anyone tired of repetitive textbook lessons and overwhelming flashcard decks.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Choose Japanese or Mandarin Chinese and your level.
2. Watch a video, scroll Moments, or sing along with a song.
3. Tap unfamiliar words to see what they mean and save them.
4. Gravity turns your saved words into flashcards, each linked to its original moment.
5. Review a few minutes a day and watch your known words grow.

LEARN THROUGH WHAT YOU LOVE

Doomscroll in the language you're learning. Watch videos. Sing your favorite songs.

Gravity turns the content you already want to watch into something you can actually learn from.

### 5/5 — Great for Chinese

*2026-10-23*

I am learning mandarin and this is such a great way to get consistent practice

### 4/5 — Bonne appli avec une marge de progression

*2026-10-21*

### 5/5 — One day in and it’s amazing

*2026-10-20*

I think immediately after downloading i realized it’s the best Japanese learning app on the market right now.

Only complaints are that I want more content! 😫 May I suggest ヒカキン or ポッキー? I loved the one horror stream that was featured on the app but would love to see more stream content.

Flashcard system is great and user friendly, only issue is sometimes the pronunciation is off but as long as you have the pitch accent and the reading on the back of the flashcard it’s pretty easy to figure out.

Love it so far!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the amazing review! ❤️ Our very next update will bring a fresh wave of videos and improved transcripts, and we'll make sure to add the creators you suggested! We also just released a brand-new voice system today that should address the pronunciation issues you mentioned. Thank you for supporting Gravity!

### 2/5 — Videos

*2026-10-19*

Currently only a few videos work for me. I consistently get video unavailable message. App seems cool though if it works consistently

**Developer response:** Hi there! We're sorry to hear you're having trouble accessing videos! Video availability can sometimes be affected by VPNs, ad blockers, or regional restrictions. Could you please reach out to us at support@learngravity.com? We'd love to investigate what's happening and help get things working for you! :)

### 2/5 — Like always

*2026-10-19*

Genuinely liked the app at first because it was able to watch a video. But like always turns out the app isn’t free. I get trying to make money but really? I have to pay for everything? You might as well make my pay to even download the app it’s literally unnecessary. The only thing free is the dictionary and the dictionary saved me from giving it a one star because the dictionary is actually good but literally can’t do anything else.

**Developer response:** Hi there! We're sorry to hear about your frustration. While subscriptions help us keep Gravity running and improving, we never want pricing to stand in the way of learning. We're always exploring ways to make Gravity more accessible and would love to hear your thoughts! Please reach out to support@learngravity.com so we can make things right :)

### 4/5 — 良いアプリ

*2026-10-14*

とっても使いやすい

### 4/5 — Good but need some improvement

*2026-10-13*

The idea and function is really good but there are some mistakes in the subtitle. And it's quite difficult in returning the video, like in the short clip, if i want to rewatch the previous one, it's keep going forward while i go back

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thank you for using Gravity and sharing your feedback! Our team is working hard to improve subtitle accuracy, and you can expect much better, freshly updated subtitles very soon! We're also aware of the issue with going back to previous clips, and a fix is coming in an upcoming update. Thank you for your patience! :)

### 1/5 — Request

*2026-10-12*

Give me money back, I didn’t even use the this app.

**Developer response:** Hi there, we're really sorry about the unexpected charge. We understand how frustrating this must be. Unfortunately, all App Store refunds are handled directly by Apple. You can submit a refund request at https://reportaproblem.apple.com, and they should be able to help resolve this for you!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-10-10*

Please add dakuon, handakuon and yōon to the kana learning section.

For the live translation in videos: please add an option so that when a sentence ends, it doesn't jump straight to the next one, but lets you repeat it instead. Sometimes it's still too fast for me, even at 0.5x speed.

This app has a lot of potential thank you I am looking forward to subscribe!

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thank you so much for your kind words and suggestions! We're planning to add these improvements based on your feedback in an upcoming update, including more kana practice and the option to repeat sentences. Thanks for helping us make Gravity better! :)

### 5/5 — Keen to see where it goes!

*2026-10-06*

I’ve just finished the free trial and am thinking of continuing on. The app has been a good way to expose myself to new content I wouldn’t normally come across when just YouTubing “N5 Japanese listening”. The app is clean and visually nice to use. Some features I hope to see in the future would be:
- improved captions so that words are captured in their context, sometimes verbs or words are split into two when in forms like て so creating flashcards
- an option when watching a video to go card by card and tap to play, so it’s easier to repeat a card over when shadowing and working on pronunciation
- when searching words in the dictionary to be able to add to my flashcards collection

Keen to see where this app goes, recommend trying it out!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback and support! ❤️ We're really glad you're enjoying Gravity! Adding words directly from the dictionary to flashcards is coming very soon, and we're working on improving the shadowing experience. We'll also add your transcript suggestions to our to-do list, as we're constantly working to make them better. Thanks for helping us improve Gravity!
