### 4/5 — Hidden gem

*2025-11-07*

I’m already in a doctoral program for clinical psychology and am using these as a tool to prepare for the EPPP board licensing exam. Very thorough and does a good job highlighting any knowledge deficit areas in pertinent areas of psychological science. My only criticism is that it’s a bit buggy and doesn’t seem to be maintained well by the company that took over its ownership.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2017-12-08*

Great format, very few glitches. I used it to study for the test and did well, and continue to use it to keep up and practice!

### 5/5 — Highly recommend

*2017-10-05*

I emailed last week that the content needed to be updated to include DSM-V material, and today it was. I appreciate they actually listened! Definitely worth the $20. So many cards. So much practice. The key is to be honest with yourself about how well you actually know the answer.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2017-08-01*

Highly recommend

### 5/5 — Recommend it

*2017-07-18*

Great study tool for the psych GRE for when you're on the go, or just trying to switch things up. Definitely recommend it, and I'm definitely buying the full version.

### 5/5 — Good prep

*2017-06-06, version 3.20190819*

Like the app. Started early prepping for gre.

### 5/5 — Great

*2017-04-30, version 3.20190819*

Great app, super helpful

### 5/5 — Really helps!

*2017-03-27*

This app is the best that I can find and is even better than the psychology subject test practice books you find.

### 4/5 — Good, but needs DSM-5 update

*2017-03-06, version 3.20190819*

The selection of material seems extensive, in that I'm seeing a significant amount of information that I haven't encountered in my first three years of undergraduate studies. I'm also getting a nice refresher on information that I had deemed ancillary in my studies, but which I can now see would make great GRE questions.

I've seen questions about the DSM-IV multi-axis system, but not anything specific to the latest version, the DSM-5. But that may not devalue the app significantly, as it doesn't seem to cover diagnostic criteria.

My only other suggestion, and the reason that I don't give it 5 stars, is that the format doesn't match the GRE subject test format. The app requires a recall strategy in that it presents a question and you have to remember the details of the answer, wherein the actual GRE is multiple choice, requiring a recognition strategy.

The app's recall strategy may likely lead to greater overall long-term learning, but it requires greater time and effort on the front end. It would be great if the app gave you the option of both recall and multiple-choice study formats.

Overall, I'm enjoying using the app and expect that it will significantly improve my GRE Psychology subject score. It's definitely easier than going through handwritten notes for 20 different psychology courses.

### 4/5 — Good App!

*2017-02-01, version 3.20190819*

Would give it 5 stars if it was more flexible. I would like to download one deck at a time rather than pay the full price to unlock all decks. Otherwise, it's great!

### 4/5 — Great method for studying

*2017-01-27*

I'm studying for a different psych test but this was a great tool for refreshing my memory. Once I was honest with myself about how well I knew each question, the repetition was so helpful!

### 5/5 — great app for students

*2017-01-18*

This app helps me to keep up what I have learned in class. It is a very user friendly app. I have had fun using it too. Keep up the good work guys!

### 5/5 — Challenging

*2017-01-01, version 3.20190819*

It's fun to see how much I've remembered over the years.

### 4/5 — Good practice

*2016-11-25, version 3.20190819*

So far, so good. I hope this will help me with my GRE.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bought the Psych gre for access to the decks didnt get it

*2020-08-22, version 3.20180228*

Title says it. Paid the 20$ to access the other decks and the decks did not unlock.

### 1/5 — Another APP making you pay for everything

*2020-05-30, version 3.20180228*

You only have access to one module, history. All other modules you need to pay for.

### 1/5 — Fake reviews

*2017-07-09, version 3.20190819*

A significant number of the reviews for this app appear to be fake. Check all the reviews for Nov 12.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2015-04-16, version 2.20141128*

Crashes every time I click anything.

### 1/5 — Not worth the hidden in-app cost

*2014-10-17, version 2.20140919*

Pretty sure that I paid $15 for the full deck of flash cards. They are now locked (except for three subject decks) and require an in-app purchase of $24.99!
I am taking the GRE Subject test next week and need these cards as I don't have time for an alternative. Scummy...

### 1/5 — Won't let me log in

*2013-09-08, version 2.20130319*

I paid for this app yesterday and it was great until customer support changed my email for me. Now I can't log in and I wasted $15 for an app I can't use. This is insane and I'm seriously frustrated. This is a lot of money for an app, but if I could use it, I'd be giving it 5 stars. Customer support has been really slow getting back to me and this is valuable study time I wouldn't be wasting if I had just gotten the book. I'm very disappointed with brainscapes app structure. Why not just have a login button?!?! I either want this app to work or I want my money back.

### 2/5 — Helpful, but full of errors

*2018-09-15, version 3.20180228*

This is a great addition to your materials, but beware of mistakes in the answers!

### 3/5 — Great but buggy

*2025-10-07, version 3.20180228*

A lot of info here that is very helpful, but I hate how when I exit out of a deck of cards, the app freezes and I have to close it.

### 3/5 — Add a multiple choice test option please!

*2016-02-28, version 2.20141128*

I am enjoying the app thus far and my only concern is that I just wish instead of asking if we knew the answer or not it was set up how standardized tests are and gave the four options that we choose from.

### 3/5 — Content Needs Updating

*2015-08-26, version 2.20141128*

For the price, the content should be updated to reflect information from the DSM-5, which will be on the GRE subject test. I think this app is great and really helpful, but it definitely needs to be updated!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Solid

*2025-05-14, version 3.20180228*

Very good study resource for the GRE exam.

### 5/5 — 750 on the Psychology GRE

*2023-03-22*

I highly recommend this resource for preparing for the Psychology GRE. I scored a 750 by studying these flashcards and taking practice tests. I get bored easily just reading prep books, so I found these flashcards to be much more effective for me and hope they will be for you too! Definitely worth the money to upgrade so that you can tailor your studying to target your weaker areas. So glad I found this during my studies. I don’t think I would have scored as highly as I did without it!

### 5/5 — Really helpful

*2021-10-23*

Flash cards have always been my go-to method of learning and these are really convenient and helpful. They’re great for helping me study. I also have attention and executive-functioning related disabilities so studying is not easy for me, but this is so simple and doesn’t require many steps. I just get out my iPad and start flipping through the cards. I really love it.

### 5/5 — Really easy to learn!!

*2020-08-28*

If I had flash card apps like this in 03-06 I would have done way better on college! Excited for my masters!!

### 5/5 — I wish it was non-profit

*2019-10-24, version 3.20180228*

Those who write the exam already pay a large sum for state services, it would be a king gesture to provide the app free of charge. Given, that it is only a cue-card studying method. It would make sense if it was set up in multiple choice format.

Other than that, thank you for taking the time to create the app and input the subject test information!

### 5/5 — Refresh Your Psychology Knowledge

*2019-10-13*

An I site Gul review of psychological history. I’ll tell you more as the journey procedes.

### 5/5 — Thank you!

*2019-10-11*

This made studying so much less stressful and I got a great score! (790) Thank you!!!

### 5/5 — Handy

*2018-12-18, version 3.20180228*

Great refresher, quick and easy

### 5/5 — Amazing! So helpful!

*2018-11-03, version 3.20180228*

This app saved my butt. I procrastinated on preparing for the Psych GRE (don’t recommend this!), and this app came to my rescue! This app cuts straight to the chase and dives into the most essential information you’ll need for test day. I tried tackling the prep books, but they have a lot of unnecessary fluff (although the 2016 Kaplan is quite good). Many of the concepts on here appeared on the actual exam and I feel good about my performance. If you’re in a jam, or if you actually made time to study, this is an excellent prep tool. If you learn all the cards and have a decent background in psych, you’ll be in good shape.

### 5/5 — Fantastic! Convenient!

*2018-04-18*

I love how convenient it is to study The flash card while I’m waiting around. The cards are broken down into set that you study 15 at time, the ap automatically has everything in sets and all you have to do is click! Love this ap!
