It recognizes my Gree mini split systems just fine, and then asks for access to everything: all of your Bluetooth devices, discovery of other devices on the network, and your location. I wouldn’t allow it to have my precise location, and it didn’t let me proceed to automatic connection. I don’t know if that would change if I switched to precise location or if it’s just broken, but I’m not inspired with enough confidence to find out which is true. I attempted to use the manual connection method, and when I clicked on “Network Name” to choose the correct SSID, the app did not open a list of network names that were within range of my phone, but instead opened the “Apps” menu in my settings. It is clearly programmed incorrectly. ### 1/5 — Bad firmware kills wifi *2026-08-11, version 1.25.4* Recent firmware update July 2026 bricks the wifi unit. Emailed Gree a month ago, and again last week. No response. Then tried NCE who distribute. They’ve said GREE are aware of the bug but no fix in site. Only option was: Get a totally new wifi unit for the AC, installed and still unable to connect back to AC unit. I’ve tried 5 different networks, 3 different iPhones, two GREE app accounts, two physical wifi hardware and 5+ hours of trying. I build websites for a living, so no slouch when it comes to tech. I’ll pay anyone $200 if they can connect our AC to the app. Anyone. If anyone would ask me should I buy a Gree Wi-Fi air-conditioner? I would say do not do not buy a Gree Wi-Fi air-conditioner because you don’t get anything out of it but problems and headaches. The weirdest thing is that the Wi-Fi connection between the airco and the Wi-Fi is very stable. It functions perfectly it simply just the connection to the app that fails.
