Essentially the game is extremely fun and I would say fairly close to being balanced, however with most free games such as clash of clans for example, you have the ability to spend money to improve your experience. (Big shocker it’s how the studio makes money). With that being said, if you’re not willing to use mommies credit card or throw your wallet (such as myself not being retired and having a wife and kid to take care of) it can be rather annoying to spend time on something just for it to be taken away by a dude who threw down 200$ at the beginning of a server. I’ve been in very good groups prior and made it pretty far, I’ve never seen the amount of gold spending that I’ve seen recently on this game. Maybe the normal and casual playerbase for this game is gone and that leaves only the weirdos in their mothers basements or retired guys trying to pass their time but if it had a feature where one world had zero gold allowed or something this game would be 5/5 stars. Great game still and definitely recommend trying it out, just don’t expect to get very far if you aren’t throwing down that cheddar. ### 2/5 — Can’t get ahead *2020-05-11, version 2.213.2* The game is a good game and a lot of fun to play. The problem is every day I can’t get ahead. Today I was attacked by a force of 16,000 to my defense force of 59 and I lost another city. I’m through being a feeding ground for other players. I quit. If you make a Grepolis Lite for the casual player let me know. ### 2/5 — Meh *2020-05-01, version 2.212.0* The poor: At startup, it forces iPad services to display, and then I must dismiss it, so poor time of startup. Then, the initial note to the user goes away with the title page, so can not be read. Within the game, getting materials OUT of “Store” (vs using them) is not understandable - I still can’t figure it out. Other aspects could also use a pop up help display. As a side note, I also tried Elvanar, also 2 star meh. However, I do give FOE thumbs up - so I figure that these might have been early releases by the company - so I am not “down” on the co itself. The good: The game is interesting to me (take that as you will)! But will prob stop playing shortly (and continue with FOE). ### 3/5 — Game is not for everyone. *2020-01-29, version 2.205.2* I have been playing this game on and off for years. It’s fun, but the game only caters to experienced players and not new players. It’s hard for new players to even learn and get experience, because they will get all of their cities taken before they can even max out farm. ### 5/5 — Love THIS GAME!!!! But be prepared to get your time taken over by this game *2019-08-28, version 2.195.0* Great game been playing since 2012 and have won 2 different worlds. This is a game you can play without spending money. You just have to learn quickly and use your resources wisely.... there is a ton of internet help out there to get you started and I hope y’all enjoy the have as I have. I do spend money but only when I play from a pc. If I’m only gaming from my phone I do not spend $ at all. There are so many extra features when you log on from a pc that the phone app doesn’t have 😟. Better $ packages and events are the two thinks app players don’t get that prevents me from spending on the app. All that said if your looking to spend time playing a game this one will take all your free time. In the beginning gold was a little more rare occurrence yes but that doesn’t have too much of an affect of you can actually play the game. I’ve never put a dime in this game and have led alliances to the end game, players who absolutely were dumping there wallets into the game. To me it’s not necessary and yes the game gets to a certain point where you kinda have to just throw your hands up and start over but that’s the point of it. I’ve invested years into a world just for it to be taken. And I took a break and got right back into it. It’s a great game to pass time and also a super Immersive experience if you want it to be.(plus if you invite players you get a lot of gold). I don’t spend money so it can cause a slower growth and at times you become a target. That is part of the fun for me. Biggest issue is I realize this is a game to play mostly on the computer, but since can use mobile need to create a better version for the mobile app. Some things can’t be done on mobile or as easily. Do love the game! ### 3/5 — Sound *2019-06-08, version 2.189.0* I'd give it 4 stars but every time I get into the app, I have to turn the sound off which I do not like. It should remember that I turn the sound off. Also the app makes it a little difficult to see certain things, like attacks. On my iPhone XR, I cant just touch the big red X that pops up when i'm being attacked. I have to go to the Command menu and find the attack that way. It’s barely even a game anymore, now all you have to do is give them more money than anyone else and you automatically win. If you don’t have a ton of money to throw away don’t download this because your only going to lose to the guy with the biggest bank account. It’s unfortunate because it used to be a fairly balanced game before, now it’s literally “give us money and you win”. The last few worlds I played on were just the same 30 people destroying everyone else’s cities, so I gave up because unless you spend a ton of money for the screen to say you win, your gonna lose ### 1/5 — Very P2W on Domination and WW servers *2023-06-23* I play this game… earned a crown in WW, but the P2W golding in this game is ridiculous. Some players will apparently spend hundreds, thousands or tens of thousands of dollars, and if you haven’t encountered 10-20+ full back to back nukes with the hero revived, and army fully replenished each attack from the same city, or cities in a short time from a single player, then you know nothing about the hardcore gold abuse in this game The most dangerous players and guilds are those with the hardcore golders with a ton of cities, usually like 3x-10x+ more cities than the average F2P player, and during certain events is where they can abuse their gold to amass hundreds of OLU and Myth unit tokens, and whatnot depending on the event. They and their guild will claim whole islands, absurd attacks The hardcore gold abuse is disgusting. Would be interesting if there were F2P servers, no instant building troops, instant buildings, insta researches, buying resources with gold, no reviving heroes despite killing that hero like 10+ times, etc. The game can be very tiring if you are on the frontlies, alarms going off if you want yo survive ### 1/5 — Pay to win *2022-11-29, version 2.275.2* I’ve played this game off and on since 2012. Before the app, before pretty much everything. Heck, I’ve played this game so long that we used to use Skype as our external game chat. I’m coming off a multi-year break and trying out revolt worlds to work more with my married/family life. Innogames…. You’ve gone too far. The gold abuse is disgusting. The game used to be balanced, but it has fully moved to a pay to win. The events are a nightmare, people can just buy mythic nukes over and over again. I tried out a faster revolt world Milos on the en server. Players had 10 cities leaving beginner protection with full LS nukes. On top of that Innogames sold them +30% naval strength tokens for Black Friday… it used to be balanced Innogames. But you’ve gotten greedy. There is no excuse, there is no explanation. You know what you’ve done and that’s why Grepolis has failed to keep a player like myself. One who has played since 2012, failed to make me love the game like I used to. I’ll be leaving. But I’ll also check back in a year to see if Innogames has done anything about their pungent greed. ### 1/5 — Not bad but… *2022-10-20, version 2.273.2* It’s a decent game on the surface but whoever has the biggest bank account very quickly gets to the top and it’s Impossible to keep up unless your willing to drop a lot of money on the game. Don’t play it unless your willing to throw away a huge amount of money. This used to be a lot of fun before the devs became too money hungry to balance their game ### 1/5 — Unfair Gameplay *2022-05-07, version 2.260.0* Innogames doesn’t post how complete truth of how the end-game works or starts. This allows the manipulation by single players to delay, almost indefinitely, how long servers last. When players literally state “we plan to win by attrition”, Innogames allows the very few to ruin the game for the many. This game is full of people who would rather ruin it for everyone else to “win”, using insider knowledge. It raises ethics questions for me if developers and moderators use their knowledge to influence and play with others to win in unfair ways. ### 1/5 — Where the virgins go *2022-04-27, version 2.260.0* What could be a great game is instead a circle jerk of losers spending real money to “conquer” new players and there is nothing in place to prevent this. Beginner protection lasts a week and even if you operate at max efficiency to make your city as defensively powerful as possible, within 24 hours you will be attacked a dozen times by players with 8 cities and alliances with 40 people. No matter what you do, new players are fed to the virgins and then promptly leave, which is why the game is as dead as it is. Save yourself a week of work being erased and find literally anything else to do ### 1/5 — Alarms / Bugs *2020-08-01, version 2.218.0* The app is very limited compared to the browser, which makes sense. However when the most important feature most players use the app for doesn’t work or partially works, it puts a big disappointment for the app users. More specifically the alarms. I understand there’s a way to glitch the alarms by sending multiple attacks. However the alarms need to be worked on and be more efficient. The system you guys have for alarms for app is still the same since 2015 which is terrible. Work on this and I promise this game will keep growing. ### 1/5 — Trash, coming from a Veteran *2020-06-12, version 2.215.0* This game is dead, and is controlled by multiple factions of people who have played for years. There isn’t anything stopping a new player from being conquered by other alliances and all of their hard work shut out. There isn’t anything you can do to prevent your city from coming under attack and controlled by alliances who just simply want the island that you were spawned on. Pure trash, there should have been something that the developers could have done to make it new and returning player friendly. Complete garbage ### 1/5 — Grepolis Greed has ruined the game *2019-08-25, version 2.195.0* This game use to be really fun until they started having events all the time. Now like other games it’s how much money you spend to be successful. You use to utilize skill to take opponents cities. Now because of the events, people only take inactive cities. I’ve played this off and on for around 10-15 years, basically since one of the first world’s ever. I like the game. There are a lot of gold users and pay to play is somewhat in action but in general it’s still really good and I’ll probably come back again in the future. Of course they have ways to make money longer build times but gotta support the developers some how right? And this game is more alliance based than all the modern ones out there that look better on the surface. It’s a great game. But can be intense. Night protection can really help on the sleep front. So choose one of those worlds if you like your sleep uninterrupted. A real strategic game with many dimensions... but yeah, cant ignore. Please, do yourself a favor and get this game. The mobile app is definitely worse than the browser, though. The browser game has a lot more features.
