It looks very crowded. It takes several minutes to load up each time, on all my devices. I used to like to just quickly open it to jot down a few thoughts throughout the day but really dont do that as much anymore. ### 4/5 — My experience with Grid *2024-10-29, version 3.7.2* I've been using this app for years and finally decided to subscribe for a week. In my experience I'm really enjoying it. It's super adaptable. I use it for my bullet journal and short notes for my studies. The way it can search by title and categorize everything by subject makes it helpful. If I had a couple of recommendations for developer, I think it would be awesome to have more options to customize the app's appearance, like adding different colors and fonts. Also, a highlighting feature would be so nice Overall, I’m really satisfied with it. ### 1/5 — Permanent data loss *2024-10-27* Good to use and wonderful user interface but permanent data loss made all of this useless. Grid diary has already updated to latest version too. ### 2/5 — bring back the search feature *2024-09-26, version 3.7.1* search function disappeared and can’t find specific entries as my memory is bad so i use this app to keep track of my life and memories the search feature disappearing is a horrible decision and makes the app unusable at this point without the search feature. please bring the search feature back !!! i loved using this app as it lets me be creative but the new changes make the app worse than it needs to be. ### 4/5 — Good update *2024-09-24, version 3.7.1* Enjoyed the classic version and now think the update is an improvement. Not sure I understand the purpose of what use I can make of something called Tags but I only use one journal with only one template so probably not relevant. The one thing that would be better for me is to see the working page make more effective use of what looks like a lot of space. I prefer to see all my journal entries on one page but each grid cuts off the information after 5 lines. The information is still there of course but just doesn’t show in that view but the amount of what looks like unused available space is a bit frustrating. Update After A Few Months Still liking the app but will follow with interest the paid version as the pricing at $19 annually seems considerably higher than what’s generally found with other apps. Another Update They took away the painful subscription marketing that preceded access to our data. It was just way too much when compared to other apps and is now simply easily found within the app instead of force feeding the user. Given the comparatively very high pricing I’m a bit doubtful there’ll be many takers though. ### 1/5 — Ongoing sync issues *2024-09-13* Bought the original app that was suddenly not longer supported so I had to buy the subscription on top of that and for many many months now the sync between devices still does not work. The support could not fix it and responses got lesser and lesser and for a few months now I don’t even get an answer back. It’s really a shame because this app is so beautifully designed. But you don’t get what you pay for and I really wish the team would get that handled. Update: now a few years into the problem still no response. I tried to delete the account, and fix the sync issue by creating a new account but the backup did not work. Wrote the support again in hopes that they will help me recocer years of diary entries… **Developer response:** Hi! We're sorry about the inconvenience before. Thanks so much! ### 5/5 — My new favorite app. *2024-08-22* I have been looking for an app where I can create a few of my own journal prompts for everyday (it’s too much to write down everyday). This app is perfect. The visual is perfect. So much improvement from the last app in terms of functions. As a college student, I really appreciate how many functions the free version offers. I LOVE the daily, weekly, yearly options. This app is perfect. When following the “delete account” prompt in the app, it redirects you to another page that prompts you to type a response and gives an error “something went wrong”. I open a ticket and the AI bot indicates someone will get back to me in several days. Several days go by and still no responses. The AI chatbot often indicates “Someone will be online later today”, but no response yet, despite several requests sent by me. Today (Wednesday) the chatbot now says “someone will be online on Sunday”. Highly customizable, intuitive design, great prompts if you don’t have your own, good workflow. It’s everything I want in a journaling and self care app — it’s customizable, but not overwhelmingly. I love that I can add photos easily, and use quick tags. Firstly, for some context, I began journalling in 2018 at boarding school. When I came home in 2019 I really enjoyed looking back at how I was thinking and what I was experiencing. I wanted to digitize everything. I didn't digitize it using this app for complicated and unncessary-to-explain reasons, but I revelled in the thought of having a digital journal going forward, something that was made for journalling and being able to search through it. In 2022 I found this app. I'm still working on the habit where I write in it every day, but today I logged in after not using it for a few weeks and perused through my memories that popped up and played with the search feature. I absolutely LOVE this app, it was everything I was searching for and I'm eternally grateful for it. I'm happy to have been supporting the developers through the subscription and every feature is just perfect. It has more features than I could've imagined! I could never have come up with those journal prompts on my own. I love having a daily, weekly, monthly, and even yearly template so I can look back on any aspect I want. I wrote this review because I hope to encourage the developers to keep up the good work — I intend to use this as my daily journal for years to come! ### 5/5 — Finally am able to journal every day *2024-11-13, version 3.7.3* I felt compelled to write this review as I was looking and the app doesn’t have too many recent good reviews. I can’t understand why not! I have always wanted to do a daily journal but have either found it too difficult to think of what to write, or thought of it as yet another “to do” that loomed over me which I would generally avoid doing. I have ADHD and suffer from depression and anxiety, all of which would be improved by journaling, but also make it more difficult to do! The reasons I think this app is perfect for me are: - I do not feel the need to fill in all the grids, one is enough to satisfy my “daily input” so it doesn’t feel like a big chore - having prompts gives me a starting point to jump into writing. I often find that it is much easier to move into introspection from here. - I love that you can change to prompts to something more relevant for yourself - you can add photos and images (this is very good for me as I take so many photos) - the text formatting options are quick and convenient to use - you can view the entries in a few different ways, for example on a timeline, from a calendar -it’s simple and clean visually, not distracting I should note I am using the free version and am finding it perfect for my needs. I am not entirely sure what additional functionality you get with a paid subscription, but I would definitely consider it if that were made more clear.
