I’ve have had this app for nearly 4 years come this September, I can honestly say I’m super glad I got introduced to aac and this app. I was give a choice of apps to choose from and I chose this app because it was the less overwhelming one out of the lot! There’s lots of styles of grid sets and of course naturally I had to look at them all! I’m even having a go at making my own, there’s lots of community support through Facebook and YouTube videos of how to edit the grids to make them more personal. I’ve always had speech issues as a child but was never introduced to aac not sure if it was because I never went to a SEND school or my teachers just had one way of teaching “you need to say it ( the name of the item I wanted) if you want it” kind of attitude. (Yes I actually got told that when I was in primary school) I was recently told I have a speech disorder called dysarthria, it all finally made sense to why I really struggle with ‘mouth words’, I’m super grateful for smartbox as I no longer struggle to get the muscles in my mouth to cooperate with each other or to try and get enough air inside my lungs to get the sounds out loud enough.
