## What is Gridiron GM?

You are the general manager. Seventeen games, fifty-three players, one salary cap and an owner who reads the standings.

• A real salary cap — signing bonuses, proration, dead money, restructures, post-June-1 designations and the franchise tag. Cut a player and you pay for it for years.
• A seven-round draft with fog. Every prospect is a range, not a number, and the range only narrows if you spend the season scouting.
• Play-by-play simulation. Every yard lands on a named player's stat line, and the season leaderboard looks like a real one.
• Coordinators own the scheme. Lose your offensive coordinator to a head coaching job and every player's fit changes with him.
• Players who want things. Money, snaps, a ring, the spotlight. Ignore them and they hold out.
• Owner goals, a job security meter, and a coaching carousel that will sack you — and clubs that will hire you when it does.

Free to play, with optional rewarded adverts. No timers, no energy, no interruptions, and nothing you cannot earn by running the club well.

Fictional clubs, players and coaches. Not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any professional football league or team.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 2.0.1 — 2026-09-08

A maintenance release, and a big one under the hood.

Saves no longer fail quietly. They are compressed now, and if a save ever does fail you are told rather than losing the run.

Penalties that wipe out a play no longer keep that play's statistics. Fixing that turned up a second problem it had been hiding, so the run game has been recalibrated: yards per carry, completion rates and sack numbers all sit closer to the real thing.

The trade market is a market. The other 31 clubs now trade with each other, so the league moves without you. Three ways of squeezing the trade computer are closed: contracts, positional need and future picks are all priced properly.

The money holds up over a long career. Club revenue rises with the salary cap, so clubs no longer run themselves broke over a decade and then find they cannot afford to hire a coach.

Practice squads clear out. Players on them used to get a year older forever and never leave.

Two storylines that were listed but never actually ran are now in the game: the MVP race, and facing a player you moved on. And when a club great retires, you get the chance to talk him out of it.

### 2.0 — 2026-09-07

A big one. Storylines that open telling you what will decide them and pay off weeks later. A full coaching staff beyond your coordinators, on the same ladder that poaches your best hires. A three week training camp: pick what it's for, back a man in a position battle, then a real cutdown day. A league desk showing what the other 31 clubs are doing every week, not just your own. Compensatory picks and restricted free agency when the market takes more than it gives. Contract incentives, so you can pay for what a player does instead of only who he is. Pro days and interviews that can turn up a steal the consensus board missed, or expose a bust before you draft him. A real trade deadline that actually changes the market as it nears.

New at the desk: Commissioner's Desk, four house rules for a harder, more honest career if you want one. Hidden ratings, no trades, a hard cap, and a shorter leash from the owner. Every rule applies to the other 31 clubs as hard as it applies to you.
