### 1/5 — Total junk and useless

*2026-08-13*

Totally useless and a waste of

**Developer response:** Hey, I am very sorry to hear your feedback. It looks like you did not even have enough time to finish writing "time" in your review! I am a solo developer and all feedback is incredibly valuable to help me improve the app. I would love some more context on exactly what is useless?

I like to think that learning hands on practical skills is not useless. Having life saving emergency tools and systems is not useless. BUT again I am all ears. Anyone can go google how to make a fire etc but I am trying to build a system that helps you actually do and and prove that you can! Plus get the feedback of others to improve and build a community.

I would love to know what you would suggest that would make this app useful in your opinion! Hoping you have a wonderful day.

### 1/5 — Another pay subscription

*2026-08-12*

Seems like a great concept but… 9.99$ a month… so if I do it with my family 40$ a month… you may want to relook at your subscription prices.

**Developer response:** So sorry I missed the mark here. Was the 1 star rating simply due to the price? I would be happy to take a look if it would improve your review. If you also had feedback on the app itself I would love to know what you thought or how I could improve and add more value to Gridless. I do offer all of the emergency tools and protocols for free which hopefully can be helpful for anyone! But I do spend a lot of time and money developing this app and do my best to make it as useful as possible. What sort of price do you think would be reasonable?

I am constantly evolving and improving the app based on your feedback so I hope to hear back from you! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, would just hope for some more details next time!

### 1/5 — Subscription based🤣

Every thing you need to survive except the knowledge that you’re phone will probably be useless by the time you need this kind of information. Buy some books and save yourself from this joke.

**Developer response:** Hey, I appreciate the directness! You actually raise a great point — and it's one we thought a lot about when building Gridless. That's exactly why the app works completely offline. Once you download the content, you don't need signal, Wi-Fi, or even cell service. Your phone's battery will outlast most emergency situations, especially in airplane mode.

We'd never suggest replacing a good survival library — books are awesome. But having 600+ searchable articles in your pocket that work without internet is a pretty solid backup. Think of it like having a field manual that weighs nothing and fits next to your compass.

Either way, I respect the opinion and I hope you stay prepared out there — whether that's with books, Gridless, or both! If there is anything I can do to earn a better review, please contact me at support@hawknesthammocks.ca

Thanks again!

### 3/5 — It’s ok

*2026-03-27*

How does the app expect us to do a subscription if the grid n money goes away makes no sense

**Developer response:** Great question! That's actually exactly why Gridless works offline — once you download the content, it's yours to access anytime, no internet or cell service needed. The idea is to learn and prepare now so you're ready if the grid ever does go down. Think of the subscription as investing in knowledge you'll have forever, even without power or Wi-Fi. Hope that helps clarify — and thanks for trying the app!

### 5/5 — Great tool to have!

*2026-04-13*

I’ve used this app a bunch of times now on weekend trips and it has been a lot of fun to sit around the fire and do the quizzes and games with my friends. Ive learned a lot about so many different things like plants and water quality. Definitely would recommend!

**Developer response:** Love hearing this! Quizzes around the campfire with friends is honestly one of my favorite ways people use the app that's exactly the vibe I was going for. Added some sing along campfire songs as well if that is something you are in to! Glad you're picking up real skills along the way too. More quiz content and campfire games coming soon. Thanks for the recommendation and enjoy the next trip!

### 5/5 — Great offline survival app!

*2026-04-11*

I love this app! Especially for being so newly developed; I feel like it’s got almost everything in one place. I do a lot of back country hiking, camping and ski touring, and have read so many books on back country survival, yet it’s easy to forget the small details. Having a library of resources that are accessible without needing service is huge, and honestly for the price, I find it outweighs how much I’ve spent in the past on other literature. If I’m going to be paying a subscription for my inreach, I feel like having this on the side to make sure I’m best prepped in a pinch is well worth it. I’d strongly recommend checking it out

**Developer response:** This honestly made my day, thank you! You nailed exactly why I built Gridless. I'm a backcountry guy myself and kept running into the same problem: you read the books, take the courses, but when you're out there the details slip. Having everything offline in your pocket just makes sense. More content and tools coming soon! If there's anything specific you'd want for ski touring or backcountry, hit me at support@hawknesthammocks.ca. Stoked to have you on board!
