Their support is above average - the only way I can see to improve it would be to have US-based staff, but then they’d also need support in all other nationalities, which would be unreasonable to expect. I should note, I used my grilleye a lot when I first bought it, but due to life I stopped grilling for the last couple years. So my notification complaint (below) may be resolved now. I’ll try to remember to update my review once I’ve had a chance to test it out again. Their support was great in my opinion. When I emailed them about a pairing issue, they had me set up a video call with their support. They also sent several follow up emails because I never got back to them, due to being incredibly busy. I just got off the video call, which was awesome (aside from having to schedule it super early because their support was based in France). They helped me fix my issue, which also fixed my one complaint that I had with my grilleye forever ago. Before, it was always stuck in Celsius, but they’ve fixed it with an update so now it stays in Fahrenheit as desired. My only gripe: I noticed previously that the app had some issues yelling at me when it got to the specified temperature unless I had the app open and my phone unlocked, but (a) that was a long time ago, I haven’t used it in a while - it may be fixed now - and (b) I may not have allowed notifications, which are probably required for that functionality to work - I usually don’t give my apps notification privileges because the constant pop ups from most apps piss me off. ### 4/5 — Graph issues *2021-06-20, version 3.1* Graphing dosent work and the app says the firmware is up to date… it’s annoying…. The unit is solid and the probes are seriously accurate Fix the firmware please!! ### 2/5 — Eigentlich super aber.... *2021-02-21, version 3.1* Das Gerät ist prinzipiell spitze. Allerdings wie bei anderen auch immernoch Probleme. Habe Firmware 1.131 auf dem Gerät aber der temperaturverlauf wird nicht geladen. Der Timer beendet sich immer wieder selbst. Also alles in allem noch einiges an Software Arbeit zu erledigen. ### 4/5 — Temp probe cloud support *2021-02-03, version 3.1* Working pretty well! ### 1/5 — Benachrichtigen unzuverlässig / unbrauchbar für Long Jobs *2021-02-01, version 3.1* Software buggy, Alarmierung funktioniert nicht bzw nach Zufallsprinzip, Support ratlos und reagiert mittlerweile gar nicht mehr. Benachrichtigen funktionieren nur wenn die App im Vordergrund läuft und das iPhone Display an ist - und auch nur beim ersten Alarm (unabhängig von der konfigurierten Cooldown Time). Danach herrscht bei allen Folgealarmen Stille. AppleWatch Benachrichtigen funktionieren fast nie. Support hat bestätigt dass die Konfiguration passt und das Gerät defekt sei. Nach 2h Remote Support Session empfahl der App Entwickler das Gerät austauschen zu lassen. Die Ursache liegt aber bei der App, da auch das neue GrillEye Pro Plus mit aktueller Firmware die selben Fehler zeigt. Der Support reagiert nun gar nicht mehr, ignoriert alle Emails und behebt auch keine Bugs. Absolut nicht geeignet für Long Jobs oder um nachts die Gaszufuhr über die Garraumtemperatur zu beobachten. Ich habe viele Geräte und Apps getestet. Das hier war leider das enttäuschendste, vermutlich weil die Erwartungen höher waren als beim 0815 China Produkt, die sind aber fast alle zuverlässiger. ### 4/5 — Great customer service. *2021-01-22, version 3.1* While I had a little trouble with the software once, customer service was persistent and solved my problem for me. I’d give the customer service high marks. ### 1/5 — Horrible app, crashes non stop. *2021-01-13, version 3.1* I’ve done everything to try and make this work, but it constantly crashes. I did the method that was offered to someone where they uninstalled, rebooted, updated, and still the exact same problem. The minute I click the app open, it crashes. It has worked a handful of times, but more often than not, it crashes.Don’t know what else to do but use it as an expensive non-Wi-Fi or Bluetooth temperature probe, same as my five dollar LCD meter that I bought from good will. They share the exact same results. ### 2/5 — Decent - But Buggy *2021-01-05* The app works as described, so overall it does what it needs to do. However, the graphs only work sporadically and other times don’t work at all. Also, when the probe reaches temperature it continues to give you alarms over and over again even after dismissing them. So these issues are quite annoying and hinder me from giving it a high rating. It does keep Wi-Fi connection and seems to track the temperatures pretty well. Graphs still don’t work at all. I don’t recommend the thermometer or the update. ### 4/5 — Much improvement in app and support *2020-11-30* So it was thanksgiving day. I was having issues connecting to the cloud. I went into support and it actually offered a chat. Not only this but the technical support person Chris sent me a link to get on line and do a web session where he could see the phone and app and unit and what everything was doing. Turns out it was not connecting to the internet because of Amazon’s failure last week. Hours later it just came up. But Chris was patient and helpful. I do believe the application has come very far from the problems I have had in the past. It still has some corks with the graphs and still has some from getting disconnect messages after you have closed out which require you to remove the app and go through a process. All in all it’s come a far way and has gotten much better and their support was very good and very responsive and continues to me. I know they do care. The product is a great idea and when it works it works well for me. The magnet could stand to be a little stronger so it sticks to the grill. The notifications on disconnect could use some work. The graphs still seem slow at times or as you get through the cook on longer cooks. I don’t see this with other products. Hopefully they will keep making improvements. The user interface is clunky. The temperature readings are unreliable. And the device continuously disconnects from the app, despite multiple iOS updates and app updates. The entire experience has been frustrating. ### 1/5 — App ist voller Bugs, Hardware unzuverlässig, Kundendienst reagiert nicht *2024-12-25, version 3.1* Dem Titel gibt es leider nicht viel hinzuzufügen. Das Thermometer hängt sich häufig auf, reagiert dann nicht mehr auf Temperaturänderungen bzw. aktualisiert die Temperaturen nicht mehr. Dann hilft nur noch ein Hardreset, indem man den Einschaltknopf gedrückt hält, was von unterwegs nicht möglich ist. Auch lässt sich das Gerät teilweise gar nicht mehr abschalten, ohne daraufhin in einen Loop zu verfallen, in dem es sich ständig von selbst wieder anschaltet. Die Bluetooth-Verbindung reicht auch bei direktem Sichtkontakt keine fünf Meter. Die WLAN-Verbindung ist trotz hervorragender Netzwerkqualität extrem unzuverlässig und auch bei bestehender WLAN-Verbindung besteht oft kein Kontakt zur Cloud. Die Cloud-Kurven zeigen teilweise absurde Höchstwerte von 70.000 Grad, womit die Kurve nutzlos wird, weil die tatsächliche Temperaturentwicklung im Vergleich nicht mehr sichtbar ist. Die App zeigt teilweise nur noch einen Fühler an und ignoriert sämtliche anderen. Und der Kundendienst schweigt zu allem. Absoluter Müll ### 1/5 — Great hardware, worst software ever *2023-03-19, version 3.1* I’ve had my grilleye pro for about two plus years and it’s been a battle ever since purchase. Either the Wi-Fi doesn’t work (constantly disconnects), or the probes don’t show on the app, but they show on the hardware, or I get random disconnected alarms even when I’m not using the device. This device is barely usable and I’m about to return it. Update: thanks for your comments developer. Unfortunately the only way to fix the problem is for you to update the app. It has not been updated in a year! Lowering from 2 to 1 star. Some issues: 1. Drops Bluetooth connection all the time 2. Graphs don’t refresh even after resetting them 3. Temperature reading drops by 30-40 degrees, then refreshes randomly. ### 1/5 — Schlecht programmiert *2021-02-07, version 3.1* Ich benutze das Thermometer nun seit fast einem Jahr. Es verliert ständig die Verbindung zum WiFi Router. Die grafische Temperaturkurve hat erst 2x funktioniert, sonst habe ich nur eine Sanduhr. Auch werden mir noch Nachrichten angezeigt dass das Essen fertig ist, obwohl ich die App geschlossen und das Thermometer ausgeschaltet ist. Alles in allem, schlecht programmiert für so viel Geld. It connects to phone via Bluetooth and WiFi so I can walk around house and not be concerned about loosing Bluetooth connection. I use 4 probes so I can monitor the temperature for each steak during grilling. I can leave my phone on the charger and monitor temperatures with my Apple Watch as I walk around! The only weird thing is that the Apple Watch app shows temperature in Fahrenheit but shows a “C” next to the temperature denoting Celsius. I just ignore the C because the temperature reading is obviously Fahrenheit. If you are a serious bbq or meat/fish smoker then you have to have it. Pros: Accurate thermometers Stable and strong wifi with an incredible and fully functional app (has also Bluetooth if you ever need it) App is great and also provides you with all data and notifications you need and historic graphs as well Predefined and custom target temperature templates for all kinds of bbq which are according to USDA guidelines (extremely helpful) Long lasting battery Up to 8 thermometers (probe sensors) can connect simultaneously so you can monitor several meats and the temperature of your grill Handy notifications to your Apple Watch and very practical watch app Very nice led display with high contrast so sunny days will not be a problem Extremely convenient that the device has a strong magnet to attach it to any non hot surface of your bbq plus it has a 360 rotating body!!! One last thing: they offer a great tech support!!! When I contacted them they were polite and gave instant solution!!! Best tech support ever! Cons: The device comes with only 2 sensors and you have to buy extra sensors which are a bit expensive ( I got 3 extra sensors). However the initial device with the 2 probes is very reasonably priced. No usb power adapter is provided but only the cable but this is not actually an issue as we all have several adaptors from so many devices we use USB cable is very short and if you need to charge it while you use it you need an extension but with that long lasting battery this will not be needed If you want to be a serious pitmaster this is what you need! ### 5/5 — Excellent customer service! *2021-07-12* I’m into bbq and grilling for a while and the last 2 years I’ve been using GrillEye pro pretty much every single time with no problems! For the meats and the grates temp. Recently my device wouldn’t take a charge (or at least I wasn’t doing right) so I contacted customer support. They responded to my questions with the solution in LESS than 24h and now everything back to normal. Excellent product, very reliable in a very reasonable price and excellent customer support! Christos Vassilaras hat mir sehr professionell geholfen. Auch wenn die Sprachbarriere schwierig war(mein semioptimales Englisch🙈), hat er sich Zeit genommen und alles in Ruhe erklärt. I think the starting firmware was 1.115 and I’m on latest now, 1.124(?) or something like that. 1. I expected update issues being so old, there were none. In fact, i did multiple updates in succession to get to latest. Zero issues. 2. App looks awesome. You can even export your temp data. That’s unexpected, but really cool. I’ll definitely use that. 3.
