I actually liked the old school 8-direction controls. The problem I have with the game is that I paid to remove all ads but it still played ads nearly every time for the double coins bonus after a run. I just deleted it. ### 4/5 — Sometimes the rip off is better *2024-09-13, version 0.30* Grimnight heroes is a 2d survival rogue like where you select one hero arch type and try to survive hordes of horror movie monsters. Let there be no confusion: this is a full blown rip off of vampire survivors. But where VS gets caught up in its complicated system of unlocks, power ups, and meta story elements, Grimnight heroes is a more straight forward experience that gets the player exactly where they wanna be as fast as possible: killing evil demons that lurk in the night. I found the balance of this game to be significantly better than VS as well, seeing a more enjoyable experience for both beginners and seasoned players. It's a blast to pay, ads are intrusive whatsoever and the ad-free version is only 0.99 Absolutely worth a download! Just be mindful that this handles a lot more old school and also has a much slower pace than Survivors. It does stand on its own though. I'm making my way through the Insane mode atm while I watch/listen to a podcast! You can definitely feel the work and passion put into the game, from what I assume is a very small team. I've seen one of them interacting with players on forums in 2022, and they were so nice and engaging. They really valued players direct feedback and went in and made changes based on that. I saw it hasn't been updated in a year I think, unless I'm mistaken. A lot like vampire survivor. Only comparing it with that cos I know it's well known. But anyway this game grimnight heroes is a lot of fun and definitely worth the $1 to unlock the full game. I'm just not satisfied with the attack direction. It's only 8 direction attacking. It's a bit annoying trying to aim attacks with only 8 directions. This game is controller compatible so I don't see why there can't be all direction 360 attacking. Just add that and this game will be perfect. There's all direction movement which is great. Just needs all direction attack now. I guess they made the weappn system more balanced, but i also wish the drops don't disappear after some time passes. Still a good time waster and the price was reasonable to support a dev gamer who probably enjoys playing their own game. I would make the combos more transparent and give more options to expand the VS playstyle. YES they block you from going anywhere and you get repeated hits (that applies to bosses from and after min 7) -Some same type of enemies has more health than the others It’s a disappointment, because I enjoyed it at first till I encountered this. Not one star deserving either. Edit: Developers are lying, and they didn’t answer my question and mixed up my words with somebody’s else. **Developer response:** All issues you mentioned are fixed in the latest update! It’s frustrating to get 10 minutes in and realize there’s no way you can win with what you’re given. I know it’s 99p but paying for something you should get is beyond a joke.
