## What is Grinta Karaoke PRO?

M-Live has created an app that turns your iPad into a complete karaoke station, capable of playing MIDI* (by connecting an iPad compatible external sound module) files with text, MP3 with text, and the popular format MP3+G, with realtime transpose and time shifting function.
With Grinta Karaoke PRO your iPad becomes a constant companion for both professional performances and pleasant moments of leisure with family and friends.

Grinta Karaoke has a digital store built right into the app: SongService.it, which offers you immediate access to thousands backing tracks in both MIDI and MP3 formats with karaoke lyrics.

Grinta Karaoke PRO has 5 main sections:

• KARAOKE - Follow the text of the song that is playing, shown in full screen and highlighted in time with the music.

• LIBRARY - View the list of imported songs and create custom playlists.

• EDITING - Edit and fine tune all the parameters of each track of the MIDI files (Instrument, Velocity, Transpose, Reverb, Chorus, and more).

• MIXER - Set the levels of the tracks of the MIDI files in real-time, remixing your favorite songs to your liking.

• CHORDS - Show the chords of the song in 4 different modes: Piano, Guitar, Text and Live Keys.

Each section can be switched to full screen or half screen, thus leaving space for the text of the song you are playing.

And the backing tracks?

You can import from your personal library all the backing tracks you want, Grinta Karaoke PRO is able to play MIDI, MP3 and MP3+G files from your computer. So if you have an archive of backing tracks resident on your computer you can sync Grinta Karaoke PRO via iTunes and the entire repertoire will be transferred from the computer to your iPad.

*NOTE: To play MIDI files, iPad must be connected to an iPad compatible external sound module via the Camera Connection Kit and a USB cable. MP3 and MP3+G files can be both played directly from iPad or using a compatible external sound module.

I’ve been using this app for five years now flawlessly at my shows for backing tracks! Simple to make set lists and use! I haven’t found anything out there like it yet!

Version 3.4.2 was superb. Version 3.4.3 (this version) plays tracks but crash closes the instant you tap to open a playlist. Effectively this version is completely useless to anyone.

I bought this to while away the time during lockdowns etc and loaded a bunch of my own Kara files on. Everything works fine, it’s not a flash professional desk, but a nice easy to use Kara app for home.

What a pile of junk. After they get their money then they dump on me time to play more money if you want our songs. We been blocked at using our own songs for their garbage. Not worth two cents....

I bought grinta because it says it plays midi files and MP3’s with lyrics but will only display lyrics with embedded files. Will not play files with .txt or .rtf files and you can’t import lyrics either. 

When you have 1000’s of files without embedded lyrics, it’s pretty useless... 

When contacted the developer, they said there is no plan to display .txt or .rtf files in the future.

If you’re looking for a playback app which will display these files, this is NOT the app..

We have been looking for a suitable iPad app to reduce the amount of kit we take on live gigs for backing track playback that supports synchronised lyrics and key changes.

Grinta Karaoke Pro is almost perfect in this regards except we found that after importing our extensive library of MP3+G tracks, a lot of the tracks have long silent introductions which are problematic in a live situation.   Our previous application, KJams running on a Mac Book Pro would automatically detect the lead in silence or allow a manual start point to be set and skip right to the start of the music.  Grinta support have been extremely helpful but unfortunately have no plans to support this feature anytime soon.  To get around this we have spent many many hours manually editing the MP3 files, regenerating the Lyrics into LRC files and merging this into the MP3 file.  

However we now have everything prepared including the playlists and did our first live gig entirely with Grinta Karaoke Pro last night, albeit with the laptop on standby!   All went very smoothly being able to quickly move through the track lists and playlists with ease.

Grinta have been very responsive when emailing them for assistance and advice and therefore I highly recommend this app.  They have also promised to fix minor bugs etc in a future release.   However, that auto silence detection or manual start point setting would make this app perfect.

Unfortunately, after 6 emails to support I am unable to renew my subscription although I have attached a copy of my paid ITunes invoice along with each message. I have not received any correspondence from support or the developer. Up until 6 days ago I was using the application a minimum of 3 times per week while performing at senior citizen and VA Hospital events. This has been very disappointing and frustrating. My next step is contacting ITunes problem resolution services. Any suggestions?
