## What is Grit Method?

When my kids were young, I started writing down the values I wanted to instill in them. Halfway through, something obvious hit me: they were going to learn those values best by seeing them in me.

So I stopped writing about who I wanted them to be, and started writing about what I had to do.

The answer was four daily intentions:
1. Do hard things — because grit is a practice, not a personality trait.
2. Avoid traps — because what you say no to shapes you as much as what you say yes to.
3. Be grateful — because what we choose to focus on becomes how we feel.
4. Help others — because grit spent on the people around you compounds.

I came up with this six years ago. It didn’t become a daily practice until I built this app.

That gap, between knowing what to do and actually doing it, is where most habit advice falls apart.

Specificity is what closes it. “Lose weight” is not a commitment. “Walk after lunch” is something you either did, or didn’t, before your head hits the pillow.

You check them off through the day, in the app or on a home screen widget. Over time, the streak grid shows you what you actually did, color-coded by category. There’s no penalty for missing a day. Just an honest record of the days you followed through, and the days you didn’t.

You don’t change by writing down what kind of person you want to be. You change by doing four small things today, and then again tomorrow.

Grit Method requires a subscription. There are monthly and annual subscriptions available and some plans include free trials. Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings.

### 5/5 — Exemplary habit tracker

*2026-06-30*

I’ve tried every single habit tracker, read dozens of books about psychology, behaviour change and habit building, and thought deeply about this stuff as it pertains to how my own brain works.

The developer of this app has done a truly marvellous job of implementing a lot of what works without it feeling heavy or tracking a chore. Bravo!

### 5/5 — Grit has made life feel safer

*2026-06-15*

Grit is more than just an app for creating great habits. It’s an affirmative that you CAN feel good about yourself and your life. Love this app!

### 5/5 — Well made app, cancelled subscription

*2026-06-14*

This is a very well made app. Its value is mostly in the onboarding and how well it manages to get you to start a trial.

This is the first one I have subscribed to that has a hard paywall after trial, and I think it is very justified.

I canceled my free trial since after using it for 2-3 days I felt, I’m not fit for an app / process like this.

But if others find it useful, it certainly is worth it .

### 1/5 — Another Paid Habit Tracker. Why???

*2026-06-08*

Another habit tracker amongst hundreds that requires a subscription to even use without any proposed value over a free one. Another slop app someone wants to make easy money off of without providing a solution to anything.

Hard pass!!!

### 5/5 — It just works

*2026-06-06*

I’m not sure exactly what it is, but there’s something about the way the app was designed that clicks. It helps me stay on track without being too heavy handed.

### 5/5 — Thoughtful app for a thoughtful life

*2026-06-04*

A really well thought out app that helps you clarify what's important to yourself without being too preachy or emotionally heavy. Much more than just a todo list!

### 5/5 — Love where this is taking me

*2026-06-04*

Building focus and not procrastinating is something I am constantly working on and this app feels like something that can help me build better habits to achieve that goal. I like the focus on accountability with notifications and sharing with friends.
