I know that this is happening in every dating app but you know hope always dies in the end! ### 4/5 — More Features Need To Be Standard *2020-12-07, version 1.4.4* Been using the app for a few days now and it’s pretty good! Love the verification feature, chat window functions perfectly, and Lubo from admin was super welcoming and helpful when I was getting set up. However, like the title says, more features need to be standard. With the free version I can’t see who viewed me, or favorited me, or more than 50 nearby profiles—who for some reason are NOT listed from closest to farthest. Other than that, it’s a good time! ### 3/5 — Is anybody home? *2020-01-14, version 1.3.5* Downloaded the app in hopes to find some sexy “grizzly” bears, but seems to me there’s no traffic on the app. Not sure if its just my area, but when I get on there’s nobody here. I’ve even got on & used the online only filter & its like only about 30 guys IF THAT. I live in Dallas its hard to believe that only 30 guys are actively searching. Lol plus of the given profiles, majority have very little to NO profile information. On a better note The handkerchief colors was a cute addition to app life, but REALLY you have to go to Wikipedia to decipher what the colors are if you dont know them by heart? Wouldn’t it make sense to have what the mean on the app so people are more driven to use them? But they need to implement a better way to detect fake and scammer users! Talking to people miles away should be a Premium. This way I can probably stop getting contacted by 10-15 fake men (All ridiculously handsome; yes the scammers are so stupid they only use super handsome pics they steal from people on Facebook and Instagram and it is so easy to detect). I was even once contacted by this Instagram personality! They dont even know some of these pics are from famous people. So sad! ### 3/5 — Could be better. *2019-02-28, version 1.3.4* I don’t normally write reviews but I have to say this app is not what you would expect. There is no way of telling what guys are near you... at all. You literally have to go to their profile to see but even then that could be wrong. I get sooooooo many messages from fake profiles that I don’t know who is real or who is fake. Dudes that are 6000 miles away wanting to be your sugar daddy. I generally thought that everyone had to verify themselves but I guess not anymore. To be honest i had high hopes for this app and I have yet to meet anyone on this app. Been on this app for a year now and somewhat still have high hopes for this app. It isn’t all bad though, I love the design of it and the functionality of it. That’s literally about it though. Download at your own discretion but be warned of the fake profiles. **Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. We are trying to eliminate the scammers but its really hard to control. It would be very helpful if you could report them. Tap on his profile and then hit the icon in the upper left corner that says “Report”. You can either pick one of the provided reasons of the report, or write one yourself. You can also filter out non-verified profiles in filters. ### 1/5 — Don’t bother! *2019-01-24, version 1.3.4* **Edit** If I could give 0 stars I would. Don’t waste your time with this app. More scams then genuine people that actually interact with you. I gave it a week or so to test out the waters. But I can honestly say that I was not impressed by the person whom choose to flock to this site. I downloaded another app at the same time to see which would be more responsive. The other app was and I wasn’t asked for my bank information, credit card verification, and what cell service provider I used, like I was on this app. I tried to message one of the admins to know they need to deal with these issues. They basically brushed me aside. So do yourself a great service and don’t even bother with this app. You have better things to do than to waste time. But overall, Customer service 1/10 User Interactions 3/10 Design and layout 9/10 ### 2/5 — Decent *2018-11-22, version 1.3.3* Having used it a bit more, I decided to review it in greater detail, but just to be clear, I seriously doubt the credibility of any 5 star review on here and instead suspect most of them are merely trying to inflate the actual rating of this app. Issues: Very limited features without premium. - Can’t see who viewed you, which comes standard on several competitors’ apps like GROWLr and Scruff. (You’ll get an annoying notification that someone viewed you but can’t tell who) - Most search parameters are locked. (Can only adjust age and distance) - Far too many fake profiles. Beware “Sugar Daddies”. (Not as bad as Grindr, but the fake profiles get annoying.) - The grid of nearby is not even sorted by distance. (This is a standard feature across all similar apps....) -If a premium member contacts you, their message will always appear “unread” unless you respond. (In other words, to get rid of the little badge notification of a new message, you’ll have to either respond to the fake sugar daddy profile, or delete them as they come.) Pros: - The UI looks fresh and unique. - Did notice new people nearby I hadn’t seen on the other apps I use. Summary: Overall a decent attempt, but the longevity of the app will depend upon how effectively the developers can remove the fake profiles as well as easing up on “premium” features that come standard on all other competitors. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. The app interface has a simple look and feel - it’s very obvious to a new user which icons access which area. I’ll be trying out the premium features to see how they work, and will update this review with my feedback. ### 1/5 — Recently deleted *2018-10-15, version 1.3.3* It’s rare that I feel so poorly about an app or product that I feel the need to review it. I encountered nothing but people trying to scam me on this app. ‘I’m stationed in Pakistan, am a Marine, and have no money, please give me your credit card number.’ Pakistan was a 100 miles from me one day and 8000 the next. The app would show someone to be 30 miles away, but they would be in San Francisco, CA. I’m in Austin, TX. I also think it’s dumb also that you can’t see who’s viewed your profile unless you pay for premium services. There are other apps, with more people on them, that deliver more for free.. I will continue to use those apps. Thanks, but no thanks. 👎🏼👎🏼 ### 5/5 — Grizzly *2018-09-30, version 1.3.3* The first thing you notice when opening the app, is the clean interface incorporating just the right ergonomics with clean design elements throughout each section. There is a logical approach to completing the initial sign-in, then populating your profile with images that represent you and your life along with your personal info and basic stats. I live in a large metro area, so I did expect a good representation of the handsome men in our community with a true diverse representation of the demographics of the place I call home. Gotta pay .. want to do a basic search ? Gotta pay .. I can’t even give it a proper trial to see if it might work for me .. no wonder it’s failing to reach people .. I’m seriously shocked at how out of touch these app creators are with some dating apps.. I’m not expecting free, but at least a fair trial to see if the app works for me .. and I live in a big city .. ### 1/5 — Nothing but spam accounts *2022-03-10, version 1.6.2* This app is horrible, I downloaded the app and setup my account easily? It was easy to use but over a matter of minutes I had forty messages from accounts with the same name and profile picture sending me links to outside dating sites that try to steal your credit card information. No matter how many times you report them and block them they keep coming. I rated this app a one star because of the companies lack of control over account verification and user safety. Fix the app. I will never download anything from this developer again. ### 1/5 — Aggravating and incomplete. *2021-04-19, version 1.5.0* This app insists on notifying you (with a sound and a red badge on the app icon) not just of new messages but also whenever anyone so much as glances at your profile, even when that view is not available to you. Also, apparently messages can’t be deleted unless you block someone, so there’s no way to keep the inbox tidy. And it’s full of spammers — how about requiring that ALL profiles get verified? I kept reporting “tinyurl” link spam but still got the same spam over and over. I contacted an admin who had offered me a free trial of premium but never got a response (and from other low-star reviews it appears that they’re trading premium for five-star reviews, which is super-slimy). The rights they reserve in the fine print to use your images in ANY way they want are also hideous (despite repeated promises that this is changing, it never has). Don’t waste your time on this app! **Developer response:** Hello, we are really sorry for that, we are trying to change the documents as quickly as possible, cuz we´re not using the pictures of our users anywhere! ### 1/5 — A sea of scammers and bots *2020-08-12, version 1.4.4* I’ve used all the dating apps, some better than others, but this one is absolute garbage. If you want to have your phone blowing up nonstop with messages from blatantly fake accounts trying wanting to chat on kik or hangouts to try to steal your personal information, this is the app for you. As soon as you click on the profile pic for one of these scammers the app gives you an error message that there is no registered email address associated with the account. Support staff claim they’re “working on a system to eliminate the bots,” but clearly the platform is compromised and their security has been seriously breached. I’ve had it for a week and have reported an average of 23 fake accounts every day since. If you’ve never used it, don’t. If you have it on your device, delete it. **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for the review. We are working really hard every day to go through our database and remove all fake accounts. Minimizing the number of scam accounts in our app is our #1 concern. We are currently testing a mechanism to recognize and block scammers automatically. If you see a scammer account, you can help us by reporting it - tap on his profile and then hit the icon in the upper left corner and choose “Report”. ### 1/5 — Too many bots, but yall probably knew that *2020-04-18, version 1.4.1* This app had potential to be good, im not gonna lie about that. But at this point, i’ve lost track of gow many profiles i’ve had to report. 9/10 times, the profiles that slide in my dms are either bots that send me links to fishy websites or they’re people claiming to be sugar daddies when in reality, they just want to scam you. At this point, i can easily point out the fakes. They either have really low quality profile pics, single/2 letter names, or they claim they’re looking for an “honest and loyal sugar baby that they want to spoil with a weekly allowance of $____”. I’m done. Periodt. ### 1/5 — Not worth the download. *2019-07-31, version 1.3.5* This app isn’t anything to get excited about. There is a bare minimum of what you can do with a basic membership, meaning you can set the age and distance for filtering who you see. Everything else, you have to upgrade to a premium membership for. Also, you’d think that the administrators would weed out dead profiles and scam/catfish profiles, but you’d be wrong. You keep getting messages from people looking for “long term relationships”, and either they’re after your personal information, or they’re trolling catfish that can’t take ‘no thanks’ for an answer. Overall, a disappointment. I tried this app again after a few months, just to see how/if it had changed, and it hasn’t. Don’t waste your time getting this app, no matter what the 5star reviews say. You’ll get better results on apps like GROWLr and Scruff, and you’ll be a lot happier. **Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. Instead I’ve found it’s about as bad as it can get. For the last week I’ve been unable to log into the app. A “We’re sorry. Some of the features are unavailable due to the maintenance.” error appears and then nothing. Killing the app starts the process again. Even the “web app” doesn’t work. All you get is a spinning wheel. An email to their “support” address has gone unanswered or even acknowledged. Don’t waste your money. I’m glad I only purchased one month and then immediately suspended my subscription renewal. ### 1/5 — Horrible site *2019-04-20, version 1.3.4* Here goes my first review ever. But after a few days checking out grizzly, i deleted the app. The site was so horrid that I decided that it would be my first review. Within minutes of My first log in, I received over 20 messages out of 22 that were fake or scammers. After a few days, that number multiplied like crazy. Wow! I’d never even heard of the Hangout app until most of the fake profiles demanded I download to continue our conversations. Lol. Fortunately, I knew better and said no thanks to joining that app. STAY AWAY from Grizzly. It is a horrible site. Well unless u are into scammers and fake profiles. I would say that about 75% of the profiles are fake...which is disturbing to say the least. The pics of course, are too good to be true. Sadly, you get an email telling you that someone is interested in talking to you, and after a few greetings you realize that they are looking for a “long term relationship” which in reality translates to a Visa!!! Remember guys, the US government prohibits their military personnel to disclose their location, so when someone tells you that they are in a Peace Keeping Mission somewhere in the Middle East, it’s completely FAKE. Also, pay attention to the GPS location please. It seems that most profiles originate from the same places...which should be a red flag! The face does not match the age...another red flag! This App is a huge disappointment and a set back to all us as it represents an insult to our way of life and a complete and total advantage of who we are as a community! PLEASE BEWARE!!!! ### 1/5 — Great way to get scammed *2019-02-02, version 1.3.4* *** Edit I'm also like 90% sure the developers ARE the fake profiles. I'm reporting app to Apple for removal. Totally unsafe app**** Seriously I don’t know how this app has more than one star. There is no protection from fake and spoofed profiles. Users in west Africa and other fraud ridden countries are spoofing geo locations and claiming to be military service members who “just want someone to love” and all they ask is for you to switch to google hangouts or WhatsApp then say they need money iTunes gift cards or steam gift cards. Do not be so naive as to fall for this crap. Come on developers get it under control. Especially if you expect people to subscribe to your premium. I like the look of the app, the simplicity to its interface but mostly the way that profiles are set up. None of us have time to waste and finding what I want to know is easy and streamlined. So far I’m not having the issues like with Taimi and I’m getting matches for people who are across the country. I really hope one thing Grizzly understands is how important it is to not make the location part of this a pay to play tact. I must say, I am pleased so far with it. I like that their are some different guys on here than the usual bear apps. Unlike some on here, I haven’t yet gotten inundated with scammers so the admin must be doing a good job of filtering f them out. To all the complainers I say, get over it guys...this is the internet, there will be scammers out there. Just be smart and don’t give anyone your personal info!
