Today I was making my list and I had added several items (it took me a while to get it) and then later I remembered something I forgot and was goi g to add it to the list I made I found out that my whole list was empty so now I have to start over from the beginning ### 3/5 — Need to tally prices during a trip *2024-01-08, version 4.0.17* My old grocery store app is no longer available in the App Store, so I had to find a new one. This one comes close to my favorite old one, but there’s no reason to add prices for items if it’s not going to tally what you’re spending as you go. When I click off items, it should total at the bottom so that I can track how much I’m spending as I go. Just making the item disappear doesn’t really accomplish much. Please add this feature! ### 2/5 — Too complicated *2023-12-16, version 4.0.17* You shouldn’t have to type in the item and then hit done at the bottom because if you hit done at the top, the item doesn’t get added to your list. Then when you do type in the item and hit done at the bottom, you have to hit done also at the top in order to go in and put the quantity. This is just too complicated. It should not be this way. ### 2/5 — Takes 1 minute to load categories *2023-09-11, version 4.0.17* Twicular needs to check their servers supporting this app. It used to work great, but now it takes 1 minute per item for the app to formulate what aisle/section the item belongs (for instance, milk would be in dairy). It would be nice if it gave a total for each grocery list so I can better budget. Being able to add in prices is a plus! But give me a running total please. Not any more. Now it doesn’t update the items I try to add. They are just trying to get you to pay for It. I’ve used it for years without paying. It’s a great app, and I’m still using it. But I will not pay them a monthly fee to make a list. I’m annoyed at this change and will continue to search for an alternative. Before this recent update, it was pretty good - not perfect but very functional and useful. Now with the update, features that were free are no longer and things just don’t work properly. I bit the bullet and paid for it but I still cannot get my ‘custom aisles’ to show up - only the ones that I had before the upgrade. And, when I add an item via a list and go to choose the aisle to put it in, my aisles are all scrambled, not in the order of my ONLY store that I shop at. I sent a msg through the app to ask about these things and it was never answered. Very disappointed & will be looking for something better! ### 2/5 — Shame *2022-07-02, version 4.0.8* What on the world happened to this app. Used to work great, but recent updates to refresh the ui were a complete fail. Looks good, but sync stinks and adding items to list is now hit or miss. Such a shame. ### 1/5 — When Good Apps Go Bad *2022-06-11, version 4.0.6* I’ve used Grocery Pal for 4 years. Today I uninstalled it. A new update requires you to make an account and subscribe to their premium features to make more than one list. Plus, it crashes constantly. There are way too many competitors for them to pull this. Devs, you’re going to fail because of this. I hope it’s was worth it. ### 1/5 — Destroyed: a great useful app. *2022-06-10, version 4.0.6* I agree with all the other recent reviews. This very helpful and useful app has been destroyed with this update and switch to monthly paid subscription. Since I can’t even open the app today (crashes on load), I’ve deleted it. If I had been able to use the premium version for a trial period, I might have bought it but the non-paid version is so bad I won’t even consider it. Bye-bye. ### 1/5 — Nope *2022-06-09, version 4.0.3* Used to be a good app. With the latest update they screwed up an easy app to use and it so convoluted that it’s not worth using anymore. The prices never update and neither does the total cart price. Time to move on. Why do programmers always screw things up? ### 1/5 — Latest Changes Make App Unusable For Me *2022-06-09, version 4.0.3* This has been my go to app for purchases for a long time. I have hundreds of item listed, purchased, and then checked as completed. My shopping usually includes any recent additions as well as outstanding items providing me a clean list of what is needed. The new version shows EVERYTHING. So, I am at Meijers and need 5 items. The new version makes me scroll through screens of checked off items to find the select few. And no, there is NOT a hide completed items - or if there is that toggle is well hidden. Ray Kroc, the man who made McDonald’s a global brand, once said it is cheaper to keep an existing customer than get a new one. It’s a shame Grocery Pal hasn’t learned that lesson. I have been using this app for years and will now have to find a new one. 😭😭😭 ### 1/5 — Complete garbage *2022-06-08, version 4.0.2* Used and loved this app for years, and it went from absolute best to absolute worst after the latest update. Want to do something as basic as create a new list? Nope, need a premium account. Accidentally deleted a list and want to recover it? Can’t do that either, need a premium account. Want to share your list with your family to split up shopping? You guessed it, premium amount required. To top it off, one of my lists was mysteriously wiped out after the forced update with no way to recover it without being forced to pay for a premium account. Basically, if you want to be able to do anything useful with this app, you’ll be required to pay $2/month. Might as well just use my native list app ### 1/5 — FIX THE APP!!!!!!!!!!! *2023-04-18, version 4.0.17* I pay the premium monthly subscription fee for this app. It frequently does not allow my list sharer to see the list. The items are often wrong and cannot be recovered. This results in incorrect grocery purchases. Today I logged out to try to fix the problem and now cannot log back in. I cannot recover my password because it says there is a server error. Meanwhile, I am paying for this app every month. Then about two weeks ago I accidentally deleted a list and I asked support about getting the list back. They told me in order to get my list back I had to sign up for premium which I did not want to do. So I got frustrated finally agreed to the premium and when I downloaded it and went back into my list the list that I wanted back did not come back and they had also lost all my favorites and saved items. I just can’t believe it happened. Now they require you to get a Premium upgrade. And not just a one time purchase. Their cost is $1.99 per month. I have no doubt that the information I provide forms data that is harvested and sold to grocery chains, brokers and manufacturers / producers. But, recently this app was redesigned and it reduced the feature set in the free version and created a pay version which still is a fairly basic feature set. The free version isn’t really free … you provide critical data which is sold to a variety of clients some of which I described above. One of the things I really didn’t appreciate in this new version was the constraint of allowing only 50 items in the history. In any case, there is nothing in this app that compels me to pay for it and, with the constraints now imposed on the free version, I don’t see myself continuing with it either. My only complaint is the row spacing in the latest version - too much wasted screen and too much scrolling. I always found what I needed at any grocery store with this app. I still have my grocery list in the app, I will not remove it. I hope to get back to using in the next year or two. I enjoyed shopping with my list in this app every time. All we wanted was a simple grocery list in the Cloud that we could both access when going to the store, we didn’t need the advanced features. This List gives us that. Having a grocery list that allows me to include the price of my items, compare prices and add coupons is more than handy. This app has saved me time and money! It saves my items from previous shopping trips and I can add the items back to my list w/ just a few taps. I can arrange my list to match the layout of the stores I shop and add/customize any aisle or category that I choose. It allows multiple lists, it saves data both of multiple grocery stores and of prices, it is not too complicated to use and still has lots of features. The two negatives I have seen so far are 1) when in the back of a grocery store I cannot always connect to the network and then the list freezes or blanks because it cannot sync, 2) the items on my favorites list do not update with price, quantity, or other data changes. Overall, this is a fantastic app and I am so glad that I have started using it. ### 5/5 — Best List App ever!!! *2016-10-02* The title says it all. It's by far the best list app I have ever used! It's VERY easy to use and actually fun. If you want to get a particular item in a certain flavor or scent it allows you to actually SCAN the product you need so the list has the EXACT item. It's way awesome and saves a ton of time. Not just that but it also has your ads for the stores in your area so u can see what's on sale and where. If you shop Walmart you know that they price match as well as other stores do. This app makes everything be in one spot making shopping fun and easy.
