I use it many times a day for personal and work related in-person interactions in order to understand what’s being said. As a person who also suffers from visual impairments, it would be extremely helpful if the text size could be changed by the user allowing for larger text options. The greyed out text (while it is showing words or sentences being processed) is also unnecessarily hard to see. Don’t fade that processing text. I have contacted the Microsoft Accessibility Team regarding these issues numerous times since the release of the app. I would think that these fixes would be easy to implement by the developers, and would benefit many. Finally, eliminate the foul language censor or make it optional. This is discriminatory for those with hearing impairments. Curiously space-hungry though - after transcribing a few conversations the app's size grew enormously, and I couldn't find any way to trim it back down short of uninstalling and reinstalling it. So it might need some bug-fixes for what data it stores on-device. But otherwise a delightful new tool! ### 5/5 — Fantastic app *2021-12-19, version 21.10.1* Fabulous application. It is fast, faster than Google’s live transcribe app. But maybe because there are fewer users? Translation is very good. At least on part with Live Transcribe which I use as benchmark. I have compared numerous transcribe app and as such checking critically. I am using the iPhone 13 and the mic is super sensitive so group transcribe picks up a lot of speech. Even from a couple of yards away easily. Hoping for bigger fonts and landscape mode also and possible option for white text on black background. Thank you Microsoft! ### 5/5 — Just started experimenting *2021-09-04, version 21.6.2* So far I’m very impressed with this app. It was “cool” that I mirrored my “conversation” on to a large display. Just had trouble with the small font on the screen. I actually tested this app with the PGA Championship (Sep 4). Which means this could be used for movies or any broadcast that doesn’t have Closed Caption. So I’m slowly thinking of ways this app would help with my father in laws degrading hearing. Thanks for your work and providing it for free to the rest of us. ### 4/5 — In the same room? During COVID? Every meeting for the last year, and for months to come, is virtual. The text font also cannot be increased or made large. If you are in close proximity with another user it gets confused who is speaking. Adds punctuation at odd times and transcripts have time stamps that can’t be removed. Not ready for prime time much like all AI speech to text. ### 3/5 — Still very early in the design *2021-03-08, version 20.10.2* There are several features it needs to succeed. It needs a mute button else a cough or side conversation gets turned into text. It needs a way to for a user to correct a poor translation. However, it contains a morality option that disadvantages us by masking profanity. We are just as human as you are, and we do not need to be as protected. Questions: How to change font size and font color? How to stop this app from connecting to my Cochlear implant device? The way it automatically inserts punctuation is good, not always accurate but never wrong. The Group Translate does not have English to English. I used it alot!! It’s great tool for me. Please!!! ### 5/5 — The best captioning tool *2023-10-01* I have been using many different captioning tools to compensate my severe hearing loss. I always come back to this one from Microsoft. The ability to pick speech from noisy places or even from say 10 meters away is unbeatable. It’s clearly on a higher level compared to competitive captioning apps. An example is using it in the car. As driver to see this captioning working and picking up the speech from others behind me regardless of environmental noise is amazing. I would love to see one day Microsoft releasing captioning glasses. It would be a big winner. Glasses that are only for captioning, no cameras etc. The technology is all there. Now a matter of putting it together. ### 5/5 — Great, but a question *2023-03-03* This works better than any other voice transcription app that I have tried. It is the only one that picks up the voices of others that are not directly by my iPhone. However, I noticed that while using the app, the volume of my hearing aid and cochlear implant is reduced.
