## What is GROW?

GROW is a project created by Naomi (12) and Elise (10). We have been working on GROW for two years and submitted to the National Invention Convention in 2024 and 2025.  GROW offers kids three different journals, a Growth Mindset Quiz, Daily Check-Ins, and interactive Chatbot all focused on helping kids develop a Growth Mindset.

Students taught the Growth Mindset are more resilient, do better in school and feel happier!

We identified the problem that many kids have mental health needs for which they do not receive enough help. There are 50 million kids in the US aged 6-17, and the rate of kids feeling depressed increased by 40% between 2009 and 2019.  There are only 75,000 school counselors in the US, leaving each counselor responsible for the care of over 700 kids. There is not enough mental health help for everyone who needs it.  Not everyone has access to or can afford to hire a private counselor.  Most teachers and parents do not have mental health training and often have other responsibilities.  


Creating GROW was a complex journey starting with initial designs that we tested and refined many times based on feedback from friends, counselors, teachers, and experts.
