### 2/5 — Great until you hit a glitch

*2026-04-29*

I have used gryphon since the covid pandemic. The hardware works great. The app is glitchy and not user friendly. Since the company started crowdfunding, I have noticed a huge downgrade in service. You can’t call and speak to anyone, you always have to leave a voice mail. The chat feature rarely gets responded to in a timely manner and when it does, they just assume you’re waiting on the chat page for hours to get a response. Emailing customer support is hit or miss. If you respond to their initial response, you can wait 24 hours or longer to get a follow up response. So an issue drags on for days, sometimes weeks at a time. I’ve been locked out of the app after an update since yesterday. I’ve left voicemails, sent emails and reached out via chat. It’s 7 pm and I’m still waiting on a response to my last email that was sent yesterday at 9 pm. I called them at 10:18 am est (the number on the app states they are open 9am-9pm est), received a message stating they were not open and left a message. Still no response. If I currently didn’t have a router and 3 mesh routers I would trash it all and explore other options.

### 3/5 — Very Good, But…

*2026-03-02*

Overall good app with strong parental controls and mesh management, but it really needs some fixes and power‑user options.

The most urgent issue is the **random sign‑outs**, which are very annoying and should be permanently fixed, along with the frequent “request timed out” errors and occasional slow responses in the UI. The app should also let us change settings per mesh node instead of globally — for example, schedule WiFi off for just one satellite, turn off the LED on only one unit, and run a speed test per individual mesh device. More technical data on the main dashboard would be very helpful, such as gateway latency, a live speed/throughput graph per router, and an option to enforce WPA3‑only for better security.

For advanced users, it would be amazing to have built‑in OpenVPN profile support so the whole home can use VPN without needing a separate VPN router and dealing with double/triple NAT. There should also be an option to disable NAT or switch a Gryphon from router mode to bridge mode for cleaner integration with existing networks. All these advanced options could sit under an “Expert Mode” section with a clear warning, plus there should be a way to swap the main router (promote another node to primary) using a cloud or offline backup, so we don’t have to rebuild everything from scratch if the main unit fails.

If these issues are fixed and features added, Gryphon Connect would go from “good” to a top‑tier solution for both families and advanced users.

### 2/5 — The App Needs Serious Improvement

*2026-02-18*

We have been using Gryphon for a few years and I had really hoped by now we would see some improvement in the functionality. We have had to completely remove restrictions at times for devices to be usable, and at times the app won’t work and we cannot remove the limits so the devices are just not functional. Our devices will often switch over from their assigned profiles and move to another, more restricted one and then the device itself cannot be found to be switched back. Our work devices have had this happen which makes work very difficult. At times, I think it’d be easier to just toss the Gryphon in the trash along with all the devices and go to the library.

I hate to be harsh because this has so much potential, but the app makes it nearly impossible to use at times and can cause far more stress than it’s worth.

### 3/5 — Stop.signing.me.out

*2026-01-26, version 05.0003.40*

I think they went overboard with security. Every week I need to sign in again. Also, fetching the data is slooow. Great concept for the router though

### 2/5 — Initial Use is Disappointing

*2025-12-23, version 05.0003.40*

I bought this hoping to monitor web browsing on my network, as it promised. The app is not intuitive and rarely works. Requests time out more than they work. The interface is confusing and they push network attack defense more than regular parental controls. iTunes and my bank app are blocked with no way for me to unblock them, for example.

### 3/5 — Love it but buggy

*2025-11-07, version 05.0003.40*

I love the Gryphon router but the app is buggy. It is still worth it though!

Sometimes I have to try more than once to do something simple like add bonus time to a user. Today, my premium subscription expired. I cannot get it to renew. Gryphon is making it impossible for me to pay them! 😂

### 2/5 — Really bad app

*2025-10-18, version 05.0003.40*

This app is the worst app that I have ever used. It is extremely slow and it times out constantly on top of that as much as I love the parental controls on the Griffin guardian it is constantly rebooting. I don’t know if the app is causing it. I don’t know if the device is causing it, but it is so slow and there are so many rebootif this company would get their act together and improve the functionality of the app itself and the glitches it would be one of the best routers I have ever encountered.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t save changes very well

*2025-08-04, version 05.0003.40*

The app keeps lagging and says I should try again later, but it says that every time I try to change anything about the devices or the profiles. It’s been like that for over 1 month now and I have no problems with any other app..

### 1/5 — Logout problem is back, basic features now cost extra

*2025-05-26, version 05.0003.40*

Edit 5/26/25 the basic features of the router that we already paid for is now a subscription model costing $5/mo or $50/yr. This device worked ok at the beginning but more breaches of contract. I cannot recommend this router anymore.

The app works but when one user is logged in and another user logs in it logs the first user out without warning. They had this problem a while back then fixed it but the bug is back. It is important to have both parents’ devices logged in to the app at the same time PLEASE fix this again (edit, this has been years with no fix)

### 2/5 — Not As Expected

*2025-03-23, version 05.0003.40*

At first this was viewed as a true delight. Control of my security on MY device without having to go through unsecured internet to reach security settings. But I can't use my own VPN & Ports are opened or closed by Gryphon granting permission. Homebound (parental control app) was used by hacker. I am no longer delighted.

### 3/5 — iPhone 16

*2025-02-15, version 05.0003.40*

I have been having trouble with the app since I upgraded to the iPhone 16. I can’t see my network status at all. App worked great on my old phone but is completely unusable now.

### 3/5 — Keeps getting worse

*2025-02-10, version 05.0003.40*

I’ve had the Gryphon
Guardian mesh router for several years. It used to work OK, but now it doesn’t accurately reflect the online status of the repeaters, both when initially reinstalling them into the network or after they are part of the network. It used to be possible to see the strength of the Wi-Fi signal they were emitting, but now that information is unavailable it seems. The app also does not show all the devices which are connected to the network. For reference, I use an iPhone and a MacBook Pro.

### 1/5 — Awful!

*2024-12-28, version 05.0003.40*

Don’t waste your time or your money. The app is a headache all in its self. It’s delayed with tons of bugs. And I have random unknown devices popping up. I find it kind of funny that you have to subscribe to have any safety features for malware . Are these unknown devices popping up actually them trying to scare me into buying their subscription?

### 2/5 — Updates make it a hassle to use

*2024-09-11, version 05.0003.40*

I used to use this app all the time.

Suddenly I’m logged out multiple times per day. Getting logged back in constantly with one-time passcode to email and another minute waiting for sync.

It’s not user friendly anymore.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Slow

*2026-07-09, version 05.0003.55*

Slow to work. Will block stuff but half the time the internet is so slow or won’t work that it makes keeping minors connected challenging. Anything I try to do in the app to make changes and improve the function the app says request timed out or unable to complete request.

### 1/5 — Non existent technical support

*2026-05-22, version 05.0003.55*

I can not even begin to count the hours I have wasted trying to troubleshoot the multiple bugs and glitches on this app. It is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to get a person on the phone when you need to. The level of support you get on chat is awful. The router itself works but the buggy and clunky app, with absolutely no support, negates any positives. Save yourself the headache and avoid gryphon.

### 1/5 — App no longer being updated

*2026-02-04, version 05.0003.40*

Help! The last app update was over 1 year ago. This creates a real problem. The only way to manage the routers is via the app, but now the app times out and is unable to consistently sync settings between app and routers.

### 1/5 — Extremely Difficult To Connect

*2026-01-23, version 05.0003.40*

Used to be a good router for parental control but now the app is always difficult to connect to the router. It keeps turning and turning with messages indicating it’s fetching the router data. Even it’s connected, it’s hard to suspend devices or resume the connection

### 1/5 — Awful app - Every action times out

*2026-01-08, version 05.0003.40*

I switched to Gryphon from Eero for a single feature. Unfortunately the Gryphon app is absolute garbage. Literally every action times out and you have to restart the app and try again. And again and again. For every single action. Adding a schedule? Time out. Trying to manage a URL? Time out. Try to suspend? Time out.

I canceled my premium subscription. I regret buying the Gryphon routers. I’m likely to go back to using Eero.

### 1/5 — Used to be…

*2026-01-04, version 05.0003.40*

Used to be a great app, that would help you navigate how much time the kids spend on the Internet. I am wondering if there are too many people on the platform now.

I love how you can easily set up individual profiles for people and limit the time that they’re on the Internet in the settings and add reward time if necessary. All of these features are amazing.

Unfortunately, the last couple of months every time I make a change, it doesn’t show in the app, but before I know it, the change went through and my kids had more time than I thought. I am a fan of limiting how much time my kids are on the internet.

Also, for whatever reason at least once a week when I go to sign into the app, I am logged out and have to go through a two-step process to get logged back in.

My fear is when I call customer service. They’re gonna want me to reset the whole Internet and re-add all the devices, which is a pain in the side.

I will begin to look for other options.

### 1/5 — What happened???

*2025-12-09, version 05.0003.40*

We used to LOVE gryphon! Something happened recently. It's now a pain!

### 1/5 — Glitchy and stopped working

*2025-11-24, version 05.0003.40*

Worked well first 3 months and has since been glitchy since. Half the time it’s not working, the other half can’t save settings or gets timed out when trying to make changes. So frustrating. And its also not exactly user friendly to setup

### 1/5 — Can’t set ages

*2025-10-26, version 05.0003.40*

The app is broken so you can’t select ages except middle school. And it says it will send a request for secondary admin account but nothing shows up in email or in the primary app. Very buggy.

### 1/5 — Poor instructions

*2025-10-19, version 05.0003.40*

Says to download app and follow instructions. Only has a login screen. No sign-up. Chat does not respond. So far, zero stars if I could.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great product for all families

*2026-05-19, version 05.0003.55*

I have been struggling with managing all the devices and things we need to filter for our kids who end up finding all the work arounds. Gryphon router has been able to do it all including our TV (firestick). And I can shut down the internet at night very easily so our kids can’t sneak screen which happens! I was having difficulty with initial set up because I didn’t realize my old router needed to stay in place because it was a bundle with my modem. Bryan - Gryphon Customer support was great and walked me through it all and the troubleshooting. Thank you Bryan!

### 5/5 — Meh

*2026-05-12, version 05.0003.55*

Meh

### 5/5 — Outstanding product and customer support

*2026-02-18, version 05.0003.40*

We have had Gryphon for two years and are very pleased with its performance and ease of managing multiple users. The one time we needed some assistance, customer support was flawless and followed up to ensure the issue was resolved. Great product and team.

### 5/5 — Great product and customer service

*2026-02-11, version 05.0003.40*

I have been using the product for many years now and has this in multiple places. It works well. The customer service support is excellent.

### 5/5 — Worth it

*2025-06-17*

I know that Gryphon has had some negative reviews on account of the app being buggy, which it is, let’s be honest. But here’s why you should get the Gryphon. 1) great support 2) protect your family 3) it’s the best choice for router-level protection.
I just finished getting help from JP, a tech support representative who helped me solve the bug THAT NIGHT. Gryphon has always provided help, and I’ve had it for years. I know solving bugs and issues is a challenge, but this is our family we are talking about here. With Gryphon we have router-level protection on every device that uses our wi-fi. It’s not the same as Circle or Bark, which are very nice, but not routers. Please keep up the good fight for your family and go with Gryphon!

### 5/5 — Great home Internet control

*2024-09-15*

I am a cyber security engineer and this is hands down the best router for protecting your kids online. Many router promise protection and yet they have huge holes. Gryphon doesn’t have these gaps and is very comprehensive. Their support is great as well. Highly recommend

### 5/5 — App works as advertised

*2024-05-08, version 05.0003.39*

I setup the system as per the directions. The app is working great and serves the intended purpose. We are very happy with it.

### 5/5 — Gryphon

*2023-10-11*

After using the Gryphon Wi-Fi 5 routers and their Wi-Fi 6 AX routers and software for years with nothing but excellent results and barely a hiccup, we had to switch our home router to that of Ring Alarm Pro and that’s where Wi-Fi that worked turned into something that’s suppose to protect your family but can’t tell you what sites or apps it’s blocking because even though you paid for it, you’re still the product. Gryphon doesn’t have and endless junk store that needs to be turned over before the next cargo ship from China delivers our next batch of outsourced and off shored items whether the factory has nets to catch their suicidal employees , or not. Those things cost money and you should put your money with a company that values your privacy, and safety, and at least provides you with some information whereas with other systems you’d be left guessing. While it may not be perfect and that may lead to more customer service inquiries and questions, the support team at Gryphon was always willing able to assist tracking down whatever the issue may be and following up to see if it resolved. Unfortunately, bigger isn’t always better as companies perspectives and goals are different. You should choose wisely as your home router is truelly the gateway to all of your information, data, files, photos, etc. Sign up for the newsletter and don’t let others marketing shinanigans get in the way of using this underdog companies equipment and software at front of your internet.

### 5/5 — Great router,app needs work

*2023-02-10, version 05.0001.57*

I love, love, love this router. I am in control and know who is using the internet and for what. The app is a little buggy. It will freeze and not allow settings to be changed. Deleting and downloading a new app doesn’t fix it. Resetting the router is required. This has happened twice in the last week and it is time consuming to start over with all the settings. Nevertheless, this is the best router I have ever used and it is money well spent.

### 5/5 — Easy, Safety, Updates regularly

*2023-01-20, version 05.0001.57*

I’ve used these routers for a few years now, added extra stations and I’ve been happy with how they continue to provide updates for everything. I’ve used other parental control routers that died out in a year.
