ER wait plus the drive

About
Guardia adds the drive to the wait, and sorts on the total.
Every emergency room in Quebec publishes its occupancy rate. None of them answers the eleven-o'clock-at-night question: which one puts you in front of a doctor soonest, drive included.
THE DRIVE PLUS THE WAIT
Apple Maps gives the driving time to the ten nearest emergency rooms. Guardia adds an estimated wait and sorts on the sum. You can also sort by distance, or keep only your favourites. Without location the app still works: the wait alone, filtered by region.
THE WAIT IS AN ESTIMATE, AND THE APP SAYS SO
Quebec publishes stretcher occupancy, not waiting time. The estimate starts from the average time spent in the waiting room the day before, adjusted for current load, bounded between half and double, and never under fifteen minutes. It is presented as a Guardia estimate, never as an official figure. Every screen shows how old the data is.
WHAT AN EMERGENCY ROOM'S PAGE SHOWS
Functional and occupied stretchers, occupancy rate, people waiting to be seen, patients past 24 and past 48 hours, the previous day's average lengths of stay, a three-hour trend, a 24-hour curve, and the average profile for this weekday.
911 AND 811 COME FIRST
A banner at the top of every screen offers 911 and Info-Santé 811. Guardia gives no medical advice and does no triage: it reads public numbers and adds a driving time.
WIDGET AND SIRI
"My ERs" shows the estimated wait at your favourites, in two sizes. Siri reads up to three, and always closes with the reminder to call 911 in case of immediate danger.
OFFLINE, WITH NO SURPRISES
With no signal, Guardia shows the last state it received, with its age, and estimates the drive. Up-to-date waits need a connection.
WHAT LEAVES THE APP
Three questions to our relay, carrying no location, no device identifier and no account. Apple Maps receives your starting point to compute the route. Location is asked for once and is used only while the app is open. The relay keeps no logs.
120 emergency rooms, 16 health regions. Two open datasets from Quebec's health ministry, both CC BY 4.0, re-read every fifteen minutes. No account, no subscription.
