Hopefully this can be improved. When that happens, I will update my review to 5/5 stars. Additionally, the address space used by some of the servers is weird (SC educational orgs?) and causes problems with apps on my device. Windows app is also absolutely awful. ### 2/5 — I want to want it *2025-11-28, version 2.5.1* I’m on a trial plan. I want to see how much is being blocked. And I have put in one app and one domain to be exempted, as they won’t work with a VPN. After first adding the exemptions, that app and domain worked while running the VPN. That’s good. But hours later the exemptions inexplicably no longer work. I’ve tried adding them back in with no success. This is a deal breaker. I was ready to purchase a one year pro subscription, but this one issue has made this decision a non starter. ### 2/5 — Where’s the protection? *2025-11-16, version 2.5.1* I had been using Norton suite. There prices keep going up. Someone told me about Guardian. They had been using it for several years. I thought I would give it a try. After installing, it prompt me to subscribe for a day at 99 cents and being a new user I would get additional 6 days. After buying the one day subscription, I tried searching the internet. Page would not load. Just for Curiosity I turned off the app. The page loaded. Tried another web browser, same thing. I contacted tech support. I would get a response 1-3 days. WTH!!!!!!!! ### 2/5 — Not intuitive or simple *2025-06-14, version 2.5.1* Can’t tell if VPN is actively working. What is wireguard? Yes, I’m new to Guardian. I just want to know if I’m using VPN, but my phone looks to be using wireguard. From what I’ve seen Wireguard is a firewall? I didn’t ask for that. ### 2/5 — Most websites require you to disable so what’s the point. *2025-04-25, version 2.5.1* If most websites you go to detect you’re using VPN and require you to turn it off for them to function, what’s the point of VPN besides the latest tech money grab? ### 2/5 — Not good for bluetooth *2025-03-06, version 2.5.0* I have installed this app to pair smart lamps without the risk of man-in-the-middle attack but I was unable to pair the lamps. ### 2/5 — So VPN you’re all alone *2025-02-15* Either brings you’re device to a crawl or is unable to connect to anything. You’d be better off throwing your phone away and just writing letters to people, would probably even be faster and definitely cheaper than this service. ### 4/5 — Epic failure *2024-11-07, version 2.5.0* Only thing worse than the app is the non-existent support. They spitball solutions without reading the issue. Updated my review. Developer addresses the issue after several emails, getting eero support involved, and many screen captures regarding the issue. Still not sure why my account was deactivated, thus the four stars, but it is fixed now. Should not have taken this much effort. ### 4/5 — Pretty good *2024-06-14, version 2.4.4* Took some trial and error but I think I’ve got it working as I want now. The biggest issue I had was that the VPN would block some apps that I use frequently and I would have to turn the VPN off to access them. I created a separate tunnel for those apps only to realize that you must use the IKEv2 protocol instead of Wireguard to do so. This isn’t optimal because the Wireguard protocol consistently has faster speeds and hopefully there will be an update for this. Otherwise no complaints. ### 3/5 — Needs a widget to show when active *2024-05-14, version 2.4.4* Keeps dropping from the server and I’m a pro customer. Not a good look. With servers over saturated from scaling and not investing at the needed rate drops are inevitable. At the very least offer a Home Screen widget that shows when guardian vpn app is active and connected so that at least customers can easily tell. ### 4/5 — Sometimes unreliable service but great support *2023-12-13, version 2.4.4* Update: Support always responds quickly in order to troubleshoot and solve issues like the one below. ———- I’ve been subscribed for years but in the last couple of months my internet connection stops working every few minutes to every couple of hours or so and I have to ‘reset configuration’ every time to make it work again. And then once you find the button to login via your email account within the app also doesn’t work. To make matters worse, there’s a fake Guardian App “powered by Alarm.com” that I almost gave my credentials to. If they don’t solve this soon, I’ll be cancelling both their subscription and eero’s as well…. ### 1/5 — Attackers easily compromised this and used it against paid subscribers wasted money and trust *2025-12-23, version 2.5.1* So…paid for this app hoping it would defend but it ended up working against us and for rogue developers instead! Allowed some http backdoor. Über die eero App lässt es sich aktivieren, aber das war es auch. Ich kann mich weder unter macOS noch unter iOS mit den eero Plus Login Daten in der Guardian App einloggen. Die iOS App ist darüberhinaus absolut unbrauchbar. Die untere Menüleiste ist nicht nutzbar und wird nicht mal korrekt eingeblendet. Ich bin nur froh nicht dafür gezahlt zu haben. Dieser Service ist selbst kostenlos zu teuer!!! Besonders gefällt mir, dass Guardian nicht nur schützt, sondern auch transparent macht, welche Apps nach Hause telefonieren. That being said I think adding the switch that is on the app to the Apple control center, basically allowing quick access to turn on and off the VPN. This would be a great addition as some apps just don’t work when using a VPN or some apps need a VPN or rather you should use a VPN while using said app. Allowing the quick access would reduce the time of exiting out of an app finding the guardian app and turning on the VPN and then going back to app you wanted to use. ### 5/5 — Problem solved *2024-05-04, version 2.4.4* I downloaded Guardian a few weeks ago and I experienced that the protection turned off automatically and needed to activate it several times. I contacted technical support and was told to switch from the generic transport protocol to WireGuard. Thanks to the professional advised it works now flawless and 3400 tracks have been blocked. Thanks for your support Update: After using Guardian for almost a month I’m seriously considering to stop using this app. It draws the battery, some applications are not open at all unless I temporarily disconnect. This is quite annoying. Some features seem to be only available if to pay for the pro version which is extremely expensive for private use. Also this app doesn’t block advertisements on any website. I did use DNT - Do Not Track which blocks ads automatically and I didn’t have any problems opening websites. ### 5/5 — Problem solved *2024-04-11* I downloaded Guardian a few weeks ago and I experienced that the protection turned off automatically and needed to activate it several times.
