## What is Guide To Tromsø?

Guide to Tromsø — Your Arctic Aurora Companion

Built locally in Tromsø by professional and local aurora guides who track these skies every single night — not a generic weather app, but a tool made by people who actually chase the northern lights for a living.

Whether you're planning your trip or already here, Guide to Tromsø gives you everything you need to catch the aurora and make the most of your stay in Northern Norway.

REAL-TIME AURORA TRACKING
Live Kp-index, Bz (interplanetary magnetic field), solar wind speed, and cloud cover — the same data our guides use to decide where to take guests each night. Get alerts the moment conditions start looking promising.

AURORA SIGHTINGS
See where the northern lights are being spotted right now, shared by fellow aurora hunters across the region and guides. Real reports in real-time.

CURATED LOCATIONS
The best aurora viewing spots used by guides over many years, restaurants, and places to visit in Tromsø — handpicked by locals, not generated by an algorithm.

TOURS & EVENTS
Local tours, events, and experiences from trusted, vetted operators in Northern Norway — book with confidence, straight from people who know the area.

LOCAL AND PROFESSIONAL
Guide to Tromsø isn't built from a distance. It's made by a team based in Tromsø, running real aurora tours, with direct access to the same forecasting data and local knowledge that keeps guests coming back season after season.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.4 — 2026-10-02

- Shared aurora photos now show location and a preview when posting
- Clearer timestamps on older photos (hours/days instead of minutes)
- New "Keep screen on" option in Aurora settings (up to 30 minutes)
- Tapping a shared photo in Activity now reliably opens it on the map
- Smoother, less-clipped photo view in Sightings
- Faster-loading Tours tab
- Smaller bugs and fixes

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-28

Improvements in this version:

- The "best spot" aurora suggestions now show both now and in an hour in one clear box
- More accurate, up-to-date weather data
- Zooming to the right spot on the map now works for all aurora sighting photos, however you open them
- The map now shows a clear pin at the photo's location
- The list keeps your scroll position when you close a photo, so you don't have to hunt for where you were

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-25

Places has a fresh, map-first design — browse curated spots, filter by category, check opening hours, and preview a place before heading to Maps.

A new "right now" box in Places suggests where to go based on time of day and weather — restaurants at dinner time, viewpoints when it's clear, and more.

Sightings: photos cluster more clearly on the map, open larger, and now show both Bz and Kp readings from the moment they were captured.

Choose Apple Maps or Google Maps for directions on iOS.

Plus a range of smaller fixes and polish across Places, Sightings, and Events.
