So why the one star review? The game keeps crashing. I get a error 1009, which effectively ends the game. ### 3/5 — Cute but shallow *2022-06-04* Adorable art and style, genuine sense of humor, a run can be completed in minutes or you can string them together for hours. But, and I hate to say it, there’s just not enough substance to earn more than a smile. There are a dozen character types to unlock, dozens of pieces of gear to acquire, but under the hood, they’re all just slight variations of the same dynamic. Red stars are physical, blue stars are magical; this character has 7 reds and 5 blues on his cards, that one has 7 blues and 5 reds on hers — oh no, how will I choose? Yes there is some variation among the card sets (not nearly enough) and some characters are slightly better than others. Which means you’ll only ever be using the top two classes you have unlocked, and the rest are just window dressing. Sad, because there are some fun ideas here and the look and feel are enchanting. Also the PC version gets updated faster it seems, since now it has an Ultimate edition that mobile doesn’t have (yet anyways). Overall, I’ll continue playing on PC when I can, but if I’m out’n’about and I’m bored, this is a great game to have on hand (or rather “in” hand! Eh? Eeeeeeh?…. Individual mechanisms are simple, but all together it is a rich little tabletop-style adventure that builds nicely through a series of dungeon/campaigns. The soundtrack Is hysterical, made of short folk songs with thematic lyrics, with unique limericks for each character and win-loss scenario. Not to be missed. ### 5/5 — Comedic gold *2021-05-28, version 1.5* This is one of those rare games that truly hits the sweet spot between irreverent fun and challenging game play. The music, sound and story are hilarious and catchy while still not overpowering the game itself. The game and all DLC should be $10 tops, not $25 on steam ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Guild of Frustrations *2025-07-03, version 1.5* This game made me want to throw my phone off the cruise ship I was playing on. You get stuck with not enough gold to buy the next thing and so you have to earn pennies to get to the next upgrade. So you end up just losing and losing and losing to the same tier 2 or tier 3 quest objective. The game makes on feeble attempts to give you hints on how to adjust your strategy. I don’t want to be guaranteed to win, but i also don’t want to feel stuck or trapped. ### 1/5 — Crashes. *2021-03-30, version 1.5* Was wonderful. No longer maintained. This game puts a level 1 crappy Dungeoneer into a bunch of quests with monsters who massively outrank it, and so you die. You just keep on dying, consistently and boringly. No opportunity to level up, as every time you level up and lose a battle, you die and go back to level one again. It’s boring, repetitive, and just frustrating. DONT BUY IT!!! *2019-05-31* When it isn’t breaking, this is a great game, worth 5.99. IF THEY WOULD JUST FIXED THE GAME BREAKING 1009 Battle card / texture bug. It’s been reported by SO MANY of their customers. And Gambrinous have just ignored it for over a year now. It’s horrific and enough for me to never buy a game from this developer again. I should have read more reviews, trying to get a refund on the App Store is horrible. This is the first review I have ever written, but you must be warned, they have given up on fixIng this broken game so you should give up on buying this. This error is so common that this is basically fraud at this point, they are selling a product knowing that there Is a bug that will ALWAYS crash your game.
