### 4/5 — Chris

*2014-08-23, version 1.7.1*

It is really very good at helping to learn the fret board. Also really helps with site reading. Custom learning mode will really focus you on what you specifically want to learn. Just a bit hard to figure out what to do at first. ( watch the detailed video on the web site helps )

### 2/5 — Pass on this one

*2014-06-01, version 1.7.1*

No instructions, website doesn't display this version that I can see. YouTube demos are the same; those don't show what I have. I'll figure it out eventually but who needs this BS?

### 4/5 — Needs a landscape mode

*2011-09-09*

Had no problems figuring out how to use it unlike the posters below me. It's actually improved my memorization better than any method I've tried. But yeah, since you play guitar horizontally, it should have a proper landscape mode. So 4 and a half stars.

### 4/5 — A little lost

*2011-06-03*

I like the application, but I wish there had been clear directions. I had to figure out what to do and how. Otherwise, looks like it will a be a good tool to help learn the fretboard.

### 4/5 — Worth every penny

*2011-06-01*

It's a cracking app, learning the fretboard is really difficult. The only really constructive app I've found.

### 2/5 — Poor user instructions

*2011-03-30*

Poor user instructions. I contacted Customer Support for help......no response.

### 4/5 — Happy Again

*2011-03-15*

Update 1.0.7 unlocked fretboard. Just the thing for my train commute to work! Thanks for rectifying issue with update 1.0.6

### 4/5 — Mr

*2011-02-20*

Does what it says, good to learn notes on the fretboard and develop basic sight reading. Chords would be a nice addition.

### 4/5 — good

*2011-02-11*

good

### 4/5 — Bonne appli

*2011-02-05*

Permet d'apprendre les notes du manche de guitare, sous la forme d'un jeu de mémoire graduel et efficace.

### 4/5 — A decent self-teaching aid

*2011-01-30*

This does what it says. If you put the time in, it will help you learn the notes on the fret board. A similar app for learning scales would be a good sequel.

### 1/5 — SO SO BAD

*2023-09-23, version 1.7.5*

Did I say SO SO BAD??? Money grabbing kind of app with no options to get your money back, not fair Apple!!! I understand u have trillions but regular people go to work and sweat their asses off to earn those money you steal with this obscenity called app

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2022-09-05*

This is the least intuitive interface I have ever used… and I have designed user interfaces. There are no clear instructions and there is no easy way to start using it. Am I supposed to follow video instructions to learn how to use a $5 app? Even the iPhone itself doesn’t require institutions. Ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Can't see any menus

*2022-08-10*

Doesn't seem to work properly. I’m on the m1 11inch iPad Pro. I can’t see any of the scroll menus or able to customize any options.

I can hear it scrolling and if I just play with it, it will end up on various exercises, but it is all grayed out.

Please fix the menus.

### 1/5 — Good idea... but...

*2012-06-09*

update:
- The chord quiz makes no sense whatsoever. It shows the answer prior to user's attempt (in the case of first inversion it's always the top highlighted note). What's the point? Appears to be a result of the interface's limitation of only making available notes with the little white tabs... pretty silly.
- Tools menu disappears randomly.
- Also, crashes often.
- Was REALLY hoping to find a customizable chord quiz app, but given the state of the basic app here it's impossible to see the point of spending anything for "added features" that aren't likely to be any better.
--------------------------------

Probabaly one of the best BASIC ideas of the available guitar sight reading tools, but flawed, messy, and with many problems.
GOOD:
- Shows whole fretboard, which is important to get a full understanding and feel.
- Can select by keys, individual notes, or complete specific strings (the last is very useful, and lots of apps miss it).
BAD:
- Interface is cluttered and unnatractive.
- When timed exercise option is turned off (which is selected by setting time to "on"?????) the time is still shown. Unnecesary and distracting, especially for younger kids where a "no pressure option" is helpful.
- When notation-to-fretboard is selected, most of the screen is taken up with a huge "string and note" text listing, while the notation is at the bottom right. Defeats the purpose, and is cumbersome because eyes have to jump all over the screen. Notation is the point with this selection, and SHOULD be prominent.
- Custom exercise settings are not saved, must set up each time.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2011-07-02*

I deleted this app within 20 minutes when I realized how useless it is. That bad, I didn't want to leave it on my iPad. Don't be fooled it's a full application. It'll continue to try and sell you more. It's a joke as it is anyway.

### 1/5 — Don't get it

*2011-06-04*

This was really stupid. I'm glad I only wasted a dollar. There are a bunch of way better guitar aps for free.
As previously mentioned there are no instructions, I was hoping to get a fingerboard learning tool but it's just a really lame game with no help how to play. Save your money and keep looking.

### 1/5 — Huge disappointment! Waste of money!

*2011-05-29*

This is nothing more than a test - spot the note on the fretboard. There is nothing creative or inspirational about this app at all. It is simply a reference - and an incredibly simple one at that. Don't waste your money like I did. And it comes at a ridiculous price for what it is. This should be freeware at best.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2011-05-02*

Loaded and tried it. Will not activate changes at select features page. Example will not change from right to left handed. Actually none of the feature buttons would work. Tried the pre set features and it locked up and froze. I want my money back. I rarely pay more tnan .99 for an app, and this is why. Very disappointed.

### 1/5 — Learn all the notes on the fretboard

*2011-04-20*

I've been playing guitar for 40 years and I can honestly say that this app is a waste of money.... It's overly complicated and no fun at all. If you want to learn the notes on the freeboard download a fretboard diagram for nothing! Another £2.99 wasted.

### 1/5 — It should be all strings.

*2010-12-24, version 1.0*

An update will get 5 stars!!!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great

*2025-05-23*

I really like how you can work on a specific area of the fretboard, whichever frets you choose to include.
I get 100% correct but it says 86%? Not sure what that’s about.
Also the game is easily the most fun set to random notes rather than the boring scales it defaults to, and you learn the notes way better than ducks in a row tapping the next box without paying attention.
Well worth the money and works a treat 🎸 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶
Developers pls set the notes default to random as the standard one doesn’t work as well as you don’t have to pay as much attention, eg pressing a, a#, b, c c# etc in a row requires no attention.
Thanks for a top game it really helps out amazingly.

### 5/5 — Nice app

*2012-12-28*

Works well

### 5/5 — Special E

*2011-07-15*

Easy to use and I'm finally learning the notes on the fretboard. 5 minutes a day, that's all it takes. Well worth the small investment!

### 5/5 — Easy Learning

*2011-03-21*

A great easy way to learn the fretboard

### 5/5 — Pretty good for price!

*2011-03-21*

Great app. Does what it says and has ear training. Straight forward and customizable.

### 5/5 — Does what it says

*2011-03-12*

This is a well thought out app that is teaching me the fret board while on vacation from my guitar. The best learning tool that I've yet to encounter for this purpose.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2011-02-25*

Amazing for fretboard memorization

### 5/5 — Good App

*2011-02-09, version 1.0.5*

This is a good aid in learning the freeboard.

### 5/5 — Great practice tool!

*2011-02-03*

It's helping me when I can't practice on the real thing

### 5/5 — Works Nicely!

*2011-01-27, version 1.0.5*

It works the way it's supposed to. I've only been using it for a couple of weeks and it has improved my knowledge of the fretboard greatly. If I could change one thing, I would have the software focus more intently on mistakes and remembering mistakes from one round to the next to improve memory but overall a very nice app!
