I love the scales capability. It would be nice if you were able to print the scales fingering. It would alaso be nice if you can input your own custom scales. ### 5/5 — Great app for learning! *2024-05-20* This app is great for learning music theory and how to play guitar. It has all the chords, scales, arpeggios (including with alternate tunings) you’ll need as a beginner to intermediate player. It also has video lesson that explain techniques as well as the theory. Metronome works great, and it will keep playing in the background so you can look at scales etc. while using the metronome. The only downfall is the tuner. I found that compared to other tuning apps the performance was finicky and unreliable. I would not get this if the tuning function is your reason for purchasing the app, although if I’m being honest you’re best to just skip past any tuning apps and get real tuner. I strongly recommend if you have an electric guitar, buy a chromatic tuning pedal and learn to use that. The donner dt1 pedal works great and is cheap. Snark St-2 clip on tuners are a good beginner option for acoustic. Other than that, this app has everything you need in one place to learn and expand your guitar playing. However, it has some functionality issues that I find annoying: 1. The fretboard has a maximum size and is not scaleable. It would be nice to see a larger fretboard 2. It would be nice to be able hide the tablature and make the window smaller. It uses valueble screen real estate 3) Everytime you switch between scales you get a single "box" and have to select the full scale mode by clicking to see the entire scale. I find this is disruptive when trying to compare/learn scales. I found a website that provides better functionality and is free so after paying for this im not using it. Metronome Volume Adjustment (it's unuseable if trying to practice with, in my case UAD Console. Sure, I can turn down the volume but I also turn down the guitar deeming metronome useless.. 2. Playback BPM Adjustment. The playback of scales (for example) whizzes by so fast, it's hard to verify notes when playing with guitar. I paid for full version and on the fence of requesting refund. Stay tuned... **Developer response:** Hi.  Thanks for the feedback. As already answered by email, the app is designed to work with the default system audio interface. This is due to internal compatibility with IOS devices. If you wish to use a multi channel external interface, you can always adjust the volume of your guitar channel to compensate the overall mix. As for the BPM playback. The intention is just to demonstrate how the pattern scale you selected sounds, just like when you tap in a chord on the chord section. It is not intended to be used for you to follow playing at the same time but we took note of your suggestion. In any case, if you are not satisfied, please feel free to contact Apple customer service and request a refund. I just wish there was an option to see things in musical notation on the staff either intervals and fingering like that offered on the tab. That’s the hard part of reading notation quickly is guidance on fingering when looking at the notes on the staff. I docked a star though. I bought the premium version, it’s dirt cheap, after using the free version for a while. The app crashes upon opening a lot. I couldn’t use it at all yesterday. Today, it’s up. It’s been behaving like this for me for a few weeks now. I’m hoping the dev sees this and can cure the crash debacle. ### 5/5 — Valuable Practice Tool *2025-02-18* I use Guitar Gravitas daily in my guitar practice. I like having every scale I could imagine in one place. The ability to bounce between CAGED, 3 note, and adaptive scales is cool. Not to lose a star, but I run this on my M1 Mac along with Logic Pro. When amp modeling is present, Gravitas won’t tune my guitar. It wants the guitar de-coupled from my Mac via my interface and the tuner works fine then.
