### 2/5 — Why?

*2023-11-26*

It doesn’t even let me in the first lesson it says “This operation could not be completed” it’s so frustrating please fix it.

### 3/5 — Question

*2023-05-25*

I pressed on the log in or join and it took me only to the login but there was no join button or anything. How do I join?

### 3/5 — UI

*2022-07-19, version 3.0*

App buttons and UI are not intuitive or properly sized.

Struggle just to play a video or navigate lessons.

Lessons are great though. App not so much.

### 2/5 — Used to work

*2022-06-25, version 3.0*

Now it crashes upon opening. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Same problem. Content is a 5, app is 0. Jamplay, can you reach out to me to help?

### 1/5 — Embarrassing miss and such opportunity

*2022-02-03, version 3.0*

Where do I begin? Lots of crashing. Click the pdf in the supplemental and it often crashes. Click some pdfs and it says you must have Guitar Pro. The supplemental sticks on the previous lesson. Imagine moving from lesson 5 to 12 and then noticing that the pdfs are still on lesson 5. Bizarre. There is dashboard. There is no playlist. There is no way to manage your practice selections versus what you surfed because it’s all in your progress page. This is super frustrating. Finally, the interactive tab you get on the website is missing from the app. It’s the one feature that separates it from Guitar Tricks. Not on the app. What a miss.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the app. Can you please email support@jamplay.com and let us know which PDF charts are crashing the app? In regards to supplemental files labeled "(gpx)", the Guitar Pro app must be installed in order to open these. If you have Guitar Pro installed and it is still not working, please include that in your email so we can fix that in the next version. Some features on the website that are currently not in the app will be included in future versions of this app - if there are any features not present in the app that you have not already listed here, please also include them in your email. Thank you.

### 2/5 — Uninspiring

*2021-05-29*

The app is uninspiring and the site overall is disappointing. They have lots of teachers, and some good ones, but the method of filming and showing different angles is not perfected and crisp, like on TrueFire. Some lessons drone on about boring irrelevant stuff, while others will go on too long with a teacher playing longer than necessary. I think they are week, too, on teaching songs and getting us playing full songs from start to finish.

### 1/5 — Terrible App Hinders Practice

*2021-02-21, version 2.3*

Going on my second year of the lessons which are great. Unfortunately the credibility of the service as a whole is severely hindered by the app. I’m sure I’m not the only person who uses there phone to access the content. At the time of this review, the app hasn’t been touched in 4 years so nobody is paying any attention to the users of the service. Please, get a current developer to redo this from the ground up.
Things needing attention (in my opinion)
1. Make it so you don’t have to log in every time you open it.
2. Use iPhone native programming language for the tools. They seem to connect to some online tuner or metronome.
3. Organization of lessons is a bit confusing.
4. Video controls are not standard and clunky.

Sorry for this poor review. I do like the lessons, I just don’t look forward to accessing them because of the app.

### 2/5 — Love the Lessons, App Needs Work

*2020-12-26, version 2.3*

I’ve been using JamPlay online for about 6-months and lesson wise, I’m really enjoying it.

However the app is all kinds of inconvenient. There is no remember option when closing the app, so each time you want to start a new session, you have to re-log in. And when I do log in, I try to view my prior lessons, but the app takes me to the upgrade membership section, despite having paid for a year of all content.

The videos themselves are great, but if you’re looking for the app to replace using a web browser, this update will not be it.

### 2/5 — Amazing service, app has a mile to go

*2020-12-19, version 2.3*

The most annoying thing about the app is that it signs you out every time you lock the phone.
The app also does not remember the progress of the lesson or even the progress within the video.

Having said that, the video quality is very high, the instructors are good. So it's a matter of Jamplay getting a good app developed for the great service they have.

### 1/5 — Jamplay site might be good

*2020-12-13*

But the app constantly crashes!! I just bought a full pro membership for 250+ cad and it feels like such a ripp off!! Idk. Fix the app please

### 3/5 — Great content; app needs improvement

*2020-10-10, version 2.3*

First, I mostly use JamPlay on my computer. The content is extensive and great. There are, however, issues with the app that have been complained of for a long time. They have not been addressed. For example, if you leave for even a few minutes, you may be required to sign back in. Once you do, you will have to navigate all the way down to where you left. Also, I haven’t figured out a way to download the supplemental documents so that you have them on your phone to review. It’s easy on the computer. Of course, since you have to relogin and navigate back to where you were, that wouldn’t be as helpful anyway.

I have also had a few problems with the content fitting properly on my iPhone 7+ screen in portrait mode. And I have had some videos refuse to go to landscape mode.

Don’t get me wrong. JamPlay is a great resource and learning tool. Possibly the best on the Internet. It’s just the app that needs improvement. The content is well worth the price. In the meantime, you should use it on a computer if you can.

### 1/5 — Login Difficulties

*2020-05-14*

I can’t login to the app on my phone or on my iPad. I have to go directly to the site which regularly logs me out.

### 2/5 — App is buggy

*2020-04-22*

Content is great, desktop version too. App however crashes intermittently when I look at anything other than video

### 1/5 — Poor quality of the App.

*2020-01-20, version 2.3*

Just ordered a course off these guys from one of my favorite guitarists and was so excited to use their platform on the app to study but this app is garbage. Have to log in every time I open the app and it doesn’t remember my info. Also the aesthetic of the app is very buggy and low budget quality. Bummer I was so excited about their courses but the first course I bought will also be my last because of the frustrating platform. Please consider a massive update.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Cannot play videos

*2024-01-17*

I can’t play any videos. It keeps saying CoreMediaErrorDomain error 12646.

### 1/5 — Can’t access purchased courses. Yowsers.

*2023-07-15*

I’ve bought several courses thinking I could watch them through the app. Apparently not. This app is so clumsy, they’d be better off without an app.

### 1/5 — Not for bass guitar members- doesn’t work

*2023-06-18*

Disappointed. I’ve been logging in online and have only 3 lessons left in my first bass course. This app won’t let me continue. It let’s me play the lessons I’ve already done but if I try to access a new lesson it shows a lock icon and asks me to log in again. Then shows me the list of lessons I’ve already done, I try a new one and it asks me to log in again. Repeat.
I tried going in through the lessons menu and found the only class by the instructor I’ve been learning from, it looks like a different course (lesson titles don’t match the lessons I’ve completed). When I try to play a lesson, it plays the intro ad for the course instead. Worthless.

### 1/5 — Very difficult to navigate and no search function

*2022-07-30, version 3.0*

If you haven’t already started a class on the website or want to see archived live classes, good luck. Your guitar will be compost before you ever get this to work.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2022-07-05, version 3.0*

App opens up fine when not logged in. As soon as I sign in the app tries to load some data and crashes. I tried re-downloading several times. Still the same issue. I’ve tried different connections 5G/WiFi. Still the same issue.

### 1/5 — Can’t open!

*2022-07-04, version 3.0*

Used to work great but I can’t open the latest version

### 1/5 — Recent release crashes

*2022-07-02, version 3.0*

Can’t get the app to open on iPhone. Crashes every time after I log in.

### 1/5 — JamPlay Needs Updating - Not compatible

*2022-06-28, version 3.0*

JamPlay had been great. It is not compatible with the latest iOS updates. It crashes at login.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2022-06-27*

This app keeps crashing what the hell. Please fix!!

### 1/5 — So bad needs updating

*2022-06-26*

So bad. Doesn’t work. Crashes. Needs updating.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very user-friendly app

*2022-01-21, version 3.0*

The JamPlay app is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. The app is nicely made and a big upgrade from what it used to be. Nice work JamPlay staff!

### 5/5 — Honestly really helpful

*2022-01-20, version 3.0*

It’s hard for me to even find the time to practice between work, life, and so on. JamPlay’s app made squeezing helpful lessons in to my very limited free time VERY easy and I’m actually noticing incremental improvements. Bravo!

### 5/5 — A much needed rework

*2022-01-19, version 3.0*

Jamplay has always been great, but the app needed work. The UI is much easier to navigate and all the features work across the JamPlay site as well as the app.

### 5/5 — Huge improvements right off the bat

*2022-01-19, version 3.0*

So great to see so many significant improvements made to the app. Tons of great guitar lessons spanning so many genres and styles — and song lessons too! Such a welcome update!

### 5/5 — Thanks

*2020-05-21, version 2.3*

Since starting with JamPlay four months ago, my confidence in playing the guitar has dramatically increased (Steve Eulberg). I bought an annual membership, and I am really looking forward to seeing how I play then. Really appreciate the lessons and related services!

### 5/5 — Great site. App not good

*2019-09-06, version 2.3*

I really enjoying JamPlay. I had a membership a couple years ago and returned. Wow. The site has really improved. I am so happy I returned. Really digging Tim Stewart’s course: really soulful and musical. HOWEVER THIS APP IS MISERABLE; it keeps locking up and then I have constantly re enter my codes. A real hassle. FIX THE APP PLEASE

### 5/5 — Absolutely Awesome!

*2019-04-07*

Definitely a must-download for new and advanced guitar players alike. I've improved my soloing ability through the fantastically HUGE selection of jam tracks in every style. Do yourself a favor and download!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2018-02-08*

Got this with a purchase from stringsandbeyond, awesome app!
The backing tracks are worth it alone, nevermind excellent lessons.
Thumbs up!!

### 5/5 — Jam-Play

*2015-11-02, version 1.34*

Great program. Helps me tune my guitar. When I took up playing guitar as a new "hobby" I wasn't even able to tune my instrument by ear. Using the tuner was fantastic in helping me learn how to "hear" the right tones.

Using Jam tracks for backing play really made changing chords better each time I tried to practice.

### 5/5 — Must must have

*2015-06-28, version 2.1*

I have been playing for over 35 years and am a decent player. This app has not only improved my playing but has opened a thousand windows. It fits any style of playing. If you don't download you are a fool. Thanks jamplay. Outstanding
