### 2/5 — Good content. Terribly dated app

*2023-06-12*

Video controls on the iOS version are non-existent. Start/Pause. Increase your screen size to fit the iPad screen? Have to close the app to get back to the lesson. TrueFire’s interface is mediocre but runs circles around this interface. No loop or repeat sections, nothing. Surprised it didn’t come with a trial of AOL.

### 3/5 — Good start

*2022-12-10, version 3.3*

The app crashes frequently and is missing features found in other “how to play bass” apps. The instructors, however, are good.

### 4/5 — Very Good

*2021-12-28, version 3.3*

I love the app on the iPad but navigating to where I left off seems like it could use a couple of tweaks. The videos are excellent and the supplemental material works nicely. Keep up the improvements.

### 2/5 — Good potential.

*2020-09-14, version 3.3*

If I could log into my Jamplay account that would be amazing!

### 4/5 — I keep coming back

*2020-01-15, version 3.3*

I've been a member for a few years now and keep renewing. I mostly use their web interface and the content with JamPlay is superb. I'm just starting to use the app for an iPad and it is nice to use the platform away from my desktop computer.

### 2/5 — Probably shouldn’t bother

*2019-09-19, version 3.3*

JamPlay has great content however it’s hard to understand why this app still exists. It hasn’t been updated in two years; the interface is severely outdated and it can’t do simple things like sync your progress with the website. JamPlay’s site works well enough on iPad, so best to just stick with the website. JamPlay should probably just remove this app and stop leading customers astray.

### 3/5 — Navigation Is Lacking

*2019-05-28, version 3.3*

I use an iPad, returning to where I left off is non existent. I have to find my way back to the proper lesson, then guess at where I left off. There doesn’t seem to be a way to sync when not using the app and using the web application.

### 3/5 — Its ok - APP is really average

*2019-01-05, version 3.3*

The videos and instructors are of good quality. The App is really not great. Also missing a bit of structure and progression measurement. I will stick with it for the next year and see how it develops. I believe it has a solid foundation to create a 5 star App.

### 2/5 — Not so good.

*2018-12-22, version 3.3*

Trouble logging in, bad interface, not so good.

### 4/5 — Needs more songs

*2018-02-11, version 3.3*

This is a well made website. Lessons are really helpful

### 5/5 — Good content

*2017-12-09*

Some really useful material for all levels. Well organized and very clearly demonstrated. I think it's good value for the money

### 4/5 — Great for beginners, even old ones

*2017-12-04, version 3.3*

Played at guitar all my life but never took seriously. Now retired, Jamplay has helped me learn a lot in a short time

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It’s really bad

*2021-11-24, version 3.3*

Too many things to list. Just try it, you’ll see. Buggy. Incomplete. Can’t close or minimize or pause a lesson (controls disappear never to be seen again.). Unclear what the next lesson is. Considering cancelling and going with the other big online guitar guys.

Update: under their description, they just notified us that it’s been updated to resolve apple iOS 8. Good to know they got the bugs worked out from the operating system last used in like 2017.

Just to be clear this review is only for the app, not the content which is great.

### 1/5 — Bad web service with even worse app

*2021-10-14, version 3.3*

JamPlay in theory would be great. But the website is clunky and is often down. The app has all those same flaws and adds to them with slow response times and hit-or-miss functionality.

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2021-04-10*

Won’t login, won’t upgrade....don’t waste your time.

### 1/5 — Be wary

*2021-02-20*

These guys are the inheritors of lickoftheday which was a great app. I spent about £50 on videos in that app and then they stopped supporting it and it stopped working - so it ended up being a waste of money.

### 1/5 — Wish there was a zero star option

*2020-11-22, version 3.3*

I downloaded this app with the free trial and was going to delete it it as the app is absolutely horrendous. I was told that an update would be rolled out before the end of the year (this was November 2019). I was convinced enough to pay the year long membership and to put it bluntly I believe I was flat out lied to as it is literally a year later and there is still no update on this abortion of an app. Does it work on the PC? Yes, but even that has quite a few issues. The main reason for this purchase was to use this with my phone or iPad which was why I purchased this in the App Store.
Bottom line do not get suckered in by this until they update this app. Don’t make a $99 mistake like I did.

### 1/5 — No access to toolkits?

*2019-12-23, version 3.3*

I was hopping to use Jamplay on my IPad but this app doesn’t have full access to everything available on the site.

### 1/5 — Can’t log in.

*2019-05-04, version 3.3*

Sorry fellas, but your app needs to be upgraded. I can’t log in and when I click on the support email the app crashes. Please fix it!

### 1/5 — Bad support for iPad safari.

*2018-11-16, version 3.3*

The chord finder does not work on iPad safari or even Chrome. The free app has nothing really to give for a beginner...you will need to upgrade.

### 1/5 — App support is terrible

*2016-04-30, version 3.1*

Following is what I've sent to support over and over without any response at all.

I am having to use the browser supported JamPlay because the app, on my iPad , often has no sound. For everything else on my iPad, sound is FINE! The online browser version is quite different from the app and I am not happy with not being able to use the JamPlay app which is a superior experience and infinitely easier to navigate. Even though everything else on my iPad has sound, I nonetheless did the following things: shutdown and restart, uninstall/reinstall of the app, etc. I called Customer Support who also turned out to be tech support. This woman was in no way tech support and was not friendly. She kept saying over and over that I had the mute on. NO- iPad was not on mute. This is a problem specific to your app. Twice yesterday I got lucky and the app had sound for about 15-20 minutes. And yes, I have high speed internet which is very reliable and averages about 75 Mbps .Please help, I love JamPlay but can't stand using the browser version. BTW, the JamPlay Cust and Tech Support woman told me she could do nothing better and would have to use the online version or ask for a cancellation. She was about as useful as a broken string and had a rattlesnake demeanor. She does not present a good "face" for your company. I am extremely unhappy.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2015-04-19*

Can't watch more than one chapter using the app. Had to watch it using Safari.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great stuff

*2023-01-08, version 3.3*

Like the way jam play lays out the lessons better than their competition .

### 5/5 — Just plain excellent!

*2021-06-14*

The presentation of each lesson is better than any of the other major guitar learning plans. Excellent video coverage of the angles of the instructor.

### 5/5 — Best

*2020-12-29, version 3.3*

This is the best guitar app ever

### 5/5 — I’m learning new techniques

*2019-11-08, version 3.3*

Love the site so far it is well built, it’s a nice concept easy to navigate, learning from JamPlay is fun! For myself I like Bluegrass music and was impressed that I was able to take Bluegrass guitar lesson with JamPlay, they have it all and it’s affordable.

### 5/5 — Really impressed so far.

*2019-01-08*

The content and quality of the lessons look very good, looking forward to getting more pleasure out of my guitar by using this app.

Loaded with good content. Lessons for all levels of players. If you can’t learn here.... play the drums!

### 5/5 — Great for tablets,iPads and PCS

*2018-06-03*

It’s great to have a program I can take with me no matter where I am or which device I have with me at the time.
The range and type of lessons is fantastic no matter what age you are.
This has to be one of the best programs if you are into guitar
