The desktop version of guitar pro is by far my favorite. I have tried 4 different apps and guitar pro is the most intuitive and easy to use for guitar, piano, and even Bb instruments like the alto sax. However, when using this app on an iPad its most unique options, like transcribing for non-concert pitch instruments, are gone. So is the intuitiveness. I was going to upgrade to 8 but my understanding is that the same limitations are on the new version. Oh well, still may favorite desk top writing system. I’ll stick with it until someone comes up with a better mobile version. ### 2/5 — Trash vs Desktop *2026-08-10, version 1.11.5* For anyone without access to a computer at all times who likes to jot down an abundance of ideas, GP iOS consistently falls short. I have had so many great ideas erased just by switching instruments it causes unbelievable frustration. Instead of designing some kind of failsafe feature to preserve notes after switching instruments, this app will automatically erase 2 lowest string notes after switching guitar sounds when using 8 string instruments. I would love to be able to do some simple layering of instruments so I can have a bass and guitar play together, but this isn’t possible in the notepad feature. I find myself trying to use one single staff to harmonize and then separate them later on the computer version. Not sure why this app was designed to be so disappointing in so many ways… Please improve features above and maybe I could provide a better review. ### 4/5 — Been using it for years to keep a note of all my homebrew riffs *2026-07-24, version 1.11.4* Always been good for keeping track of riffs I've noodled out and stuff cause I have a bad memory, could just do with multi instrument arrangement options so I could potentially tab out a whole song with harmonies, bass, maybe some drums etc.. still a great app just missing something small ### 2/5 — Frustrating connection to mysongbook *2026-05-15, version 1.11.4* Great app for learning when mysongbook works, but loses connection and can’t access tabs even though viewing mysongbook account via the app is possible. Frequently shows error that mysongbook account not connected even when logged in. Marked down for this bug, otherwise 5 star app. Even though I’ve bought score on mysongbook on my mac GP Pro8, the iPad app asks me to buy it again. Won’t sync the score. iPad MSB account shows I’ve bought the song and asks me to buy it again. Why? ### 2/5 — Déçu *2026-05-13* Je pensais pouvoir lire mes pistes audio ajoutées avec Gp8 mais ce n’est hélas pas le cas. Sans cette fonction l’appli dans mon cas ne sert à rien. A part ça c’est correct, mais ce décalage entre gp8 et l’appli est incompréhensible… ### 2/5 — Lackluster Compared to Desktop Application *2026-05-08, version 1.11.4* I use guitar pro 8 on my computer almost every day when practicing. I've used the mobile app maybe 5 times. I wouldn't recommend the mobile app unless you absolutely need to write tabs in a life or death situation. Even if you don't own a computer, I'd recommend other options first. The midi audio quality is alright. It's almost like 8 bit sounds, which is kinda cool, but terrible compared to the desktop application. I'm not expecting modern sounding midi guitar from the mobile app, so it's not really my biggest complaint though. It's more that the articulations such as palm muting, slides, and bends can be bad. Writing tabs on the app is abysmal. I've done it once to remember something, but it was almost not worth it. You cannot add an audio file to the tabs like you can on desktop. So if you have jam tracks that you'd like to sync up to the tabs, you won't be doing that on mobile. Adding this feature would sort of negate my complaint about the audio. If I could sync an audio file to the tabs, I would just mute the tabs and only play the audio. ### 4/5 — Decent but missing Files integration *2026-04-06, version 1.11.4* If you live in the Guitar Pro universe, you can use its browser and open all your files. However, if you’re a normal musician, you have PDFs, audio files, video files, PNGs sent from someone without a clue, and more. Because of this, using something like the native Files app is a better solution to manage your music. However, Arobas does not let the Files app set .gp* files to always open with Guitar Pro, so you tap a file to open it, then you have to share it with the app. Clicking “view info” on a file gives you no options to set, say, an older .gp3 file, to Guitar Pro as a default app. Because they’re likely trying to push their own format with their own mid file browser, they ignore this, making this a more difficult app to use for musicians on the go - or those that just like to practice with an iPad instead of a computer. Please update this. It is, otherwise, a wonderful app for on-the-go and for practice, but this annoyance makes me want to print every Guitar Pro file to a PDF and use that instead. ### 3/5 — Recent Bug? *2026-03-22, version 1.11.3* I think it WAS a great app, but as of the last update, you can no longer select bars, copy and paste in Notepad. Notepad was a crude way to write and edit some ideas, and as musical phrases repeat quite often, copying and pasting was very useful. Besides, notepad wouldn’t allow you to use repeat notation. Anyways, fine, I get it. They don’t want this app (which was 14.99) to compete with their 70 dollar desktop version. But dear god, I’ve never seen an app that actually removes functionality. I was told via email they would fix this bug in the next update, but the updates are like 9 months apart when I looked at the history. By all means they should just move to a subscription model. I’d pay 5 bucks a month to have this app if they beefed up the functionality somewhat(or at least don’t delete basic things like copy and paste) and there’s your 60 bucks a year! But I don’t know why they have so little interest in the iOS version, and I really don’t understand why they are removing features. Don’t they get that musicians moving around find it very helpful to have an iPad handy on the go rather than a desktop. That the haven’t fixed this most recent obvious bug (or did it deliberately) is awful. ### 4/5 — Предложение *2026-03-08* Пожалуйста, могли бы в добавить функцию автоматической постановки тактовой черты, в зависимости от длительности нот, и подсказку что общая длительность нот не соответствует такту. I was so excited I added GP to my iPad. Unfortunately, my iPad experience was completely opposite. The mobile version of GP falls so far short of the Mac app… It’s pretty much useless. I am going to continue using GP on my Mac. It’s a great tool. But, it certainly lacks in portability. Here’s hoping this gets fixed soon. Для нормальной отработки соло приложение непригодно. Почему скорость можно менять только с шагом в 10%? Для гитариста это гигантский скачок, убивающий весь смысл постепенного наращивания темпа. И очень обидно, что до сих пор не добавили автоматическое увеличение скорости (speed trainer) при зацикливании фрагмента. You can’t edit music with this app, so it’s only a reader. However, you can only now get guitar tabs (overwhelmingly made for free by other users) by going through one or more paywalls. Considering that most of the tabs are incorrect (which was fine when they were free), that’s ridiculous. Я подключаю гитару к планшету, и через irig к наушникам, и дико не удобно, так как GarageBand не работает в фоне, а хочется как бы и звук слышать и партитуру видеть; 2.
